Sometimes the archived reviews are all that exist. Besides that, there have been times when the archived reviews along with more recent ones helped provide useful info.

Every bit of information, including archived reviews, helps.

REPLY TO #1 - Drooler :
What drooler said. Archived reviews can be helpful.
And sometimes reviews can be entertaining as well.
It helps to see what other PU members think of a site.
As for general impressions, specific ideas, etc.

I like to read the older reviews to see if the site has changed any. Some sites have been up for a long time and still offer the same old crap.

I'll only second what Drooler and lk2fireone have written.

Always. Especially when they are the only reviews available (same as Drooler).
And I like the idea of archiving old reviews because it's a caution to the reader that the review may be out of date.

Occasionally, but I go more from having seen previews that make me want to join the site than from reviews, though with the number of sites no longer updating, it's probably a wise move to check out reviews before doing more than a 1-month join to any site that doesn't have dated updates these days.
