I love Turner Classic Movies and need that on my channels. Other than that, I only watch news and little else (other than porn).

I could live without television, but wouldn't want to. I used to watch a lot of college football, but have realized I can follow the game on my phone and not have to sit and yell at the television. I admittedly like Duck Dynasty and watch it on DVR. Which explains most of my television watching habits. I'm from a family that didn't talk during dinner. So I'll turn on the television and watch something while eating. Then my wife and I will watch a series at night, usually Netflix or Amazon Prime, we're deep into Walking Dead now.

I can't pick just one channel because I can find something worth watching on about every channel. Not every day and nothing that is remotely close to reality TV.

For many years, I mainly stopped watching TV.
Then, about 3 years ago, I started watching TV again.
Mainly cable channels for movies, channels like HBO and Showtime and Cinemax, where I can watch movies without commercials.
I just don't have the patience to sit through commercials to watch a movie.
As for news, it's so depressing, I don't watch it:
This random shooting, that random shooting.
And politics is depressing as well, a bunch of wealthy bastards looking to make even more money.
A bunch of liars, etc.

I have a hard time watching TV these days because everything is so contrived. The newer US comedies are pretty dumb and the serious stuff is easy to guess the formula or keep a move or two ahead of the plot (or cops). So if I have to watch TV, I'll watch BBC America, which, believe it or not, has a few unique shows on it that either follow a different formula or put the US in a less nationalistic perspective. Even the comedy is sometimes better (Graham Norton is probably the best talk show on TV because of the multi-guest dialog and because the actor-guests often get drunk!) ..or I will watch stuff on.....the Sci-Fi channel. If I am going to throw all reality out the window to watch some stupid american show where they don't know not to walk down dark, occupied alleys or how to use cell phones, then I may as well throw all reality out the window and watch something where everybody is in space or far in the future. Hard to say "That's dumb" to a sci-fi show since it is all 100% fake to begin with.

Lots of good tv being made these days, in my opinion, and I really like being able to watch shows when I want on my PC or laptop. As far as live TV goes, I probably watch more FS1 for MMA shows than anything else.
