pat362 (0) I'm Canadian and this isn't a real thing in Canada but even if it was. I would not bother because I'm not a fan of huge crowds and even less so when it is populated by a percentage of crazy people. That said I'm not opposed to online shopping.

Drooler (Disabled) When in comes to marketing gimmicks like "Black Friday," it's worth asking who's taking advantage of whom.

The media is run by corporations that tell people when to do their discount shopping, and some folks just run like a herd of sheep to the stores, at which point the sheep turn into something rather less docile.

I think the whole thing is really ugly, in more ways than one. Count me out every time.

lk2fireone (0) A few years ago I stood in line at a Target store to buy a hard drive at a discounted price.
I waited hours to get inside the store.
Then waited more hours to get to the electronics section.
Where the hard drives were sold out (limited quantities available).

Never again!

I might buy a few items online if I find something I want at a discounted price.
But Black Friday is more of a marketing gimmick than anything else.

There might be bargains out there, but I don't have the time or energy to find the ones I want. Or need.

I'm with Drooler on this one. I worked in retail long enough to know that Black Friday is not when store prices are lowest. It is when the store companies want you to shop. Now, if you have kids and need to get the latest toys and are worried they will sell out, OK, go for it. But items for adults will be cheaper later. I do about 97% of my shopping on-line and have not been in a mall in several months. If I visit one before Christmas, it will be after 9:00 at night when the mall is open but most people are at home.
