It is pretty sad really, and it's funny to hear national sports talk radio or tv shows dog on the division. I just hope the D'backs make it to the playoffs, because their pitching is good enough to get them somewhere. Getting in is going to be the problem though.

The avatar can be pretty much any picture you want - the restrictions are listed pretty plainly, but I'll repeat them here:

File Formats: .gif, .jpg, or .png
Max. File Size: 15 Kilobytes
Min. Dimensions: 50 x 50 pixels
Max. Dimensions: 100 x 100 pixels
NO Hardcore Content: Boobs are ok, genitals are not.
NO Illegal Content: no child porn, bestiality and other illegal material.
NO Animated Avatars: considered too distracting
Warning: Copyrighted material may be removed if requested by the copyright holder.

In the case of the file format, I personally used a .png file so I could have a transparent background that wouldn't clash with the two possible background colors (white and the normal beige-ish color. Gif can also do transparent backgrounds, but can only support 256 colors, as opposed to 24-bit color capable with .png and .jpg. JPEG (.jpg) cannot support transparent backgrounds.

The content of the avatar can be just about anything - most people have gathered an image or compilation of images via Google Images. If you are worried about Copyright issues, try some of the free stock images sites - my favorite is stock.xchng out of Hungary. Or you could just photograph or draw your own. Thanks, toadsith, I went to stock.xchng but they want way too many personal details before they let you look at the pictures, so that one is out. I'm going to have a look through my personal pix and see if I can use something from there. Or, better yet, maybe I'll try the Google Images way.

You can browse stock.xchng without logging in, you just can't get the full resolution images without it. However, since our avatars can only be 100 x 100 pixels max, that shouldn't be a problem. "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!"

I agree. The attraction of PU over other similar sites is that there is a good level of intelligence and common sense here. Now the question is, how do we elevate the abysmal intellectual vacuum in our various governments?

Zippy the Pinhead was one of my favorite strips. I'll never forget the one in which he told his teacher that "A computer virus ate my homework." I don't know why, but that one was especially funny. That was in the early '90's.

I actually saw someone once on a subway car who was just about the spitting image of Zippy. Even smiled like him. Freaked me out. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

I agree and, because I enjoy well done porn, am a consumer of internet porn and am interested in the economics of the business, I really like the quality of this site and the discussions. I have found some terrific sites and avoided lousy sites because of PU and have learned a lot of fascinating stuff.

TBP has been my "go to" site for checking out porn sites for quite a while now, but the addition of Porn Users to TBP has made it much, much better.

I just used the easy tags buttons at the top of the profile editing section (and any other full reply boxes, quick replies at the bottom don't have the buttons).

For example, a link to this post might look like this (without the extra spaces):

[ link = https://www.pornusers.com/forum/forum_thr...ad.html?threadid=102 ] [ b ] Your Avatar [ / b ] [ / link ]

Remove all those extra spaces and you'll have working code - Porn Users uses a neutered variant of standard BB code. "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!"

Ah, the way the tags work is such:

First you have an opening tag, after this tag all following text will be modified by whatever behavior this tag describes, be it bold, italic, large font, or even link text. So, that is where start, with the opening tag:

[ link = URL ]

The "URL" is replaced with wherever you want to send the browser, be it "http://www.google.com/"; or whatever. Of course, I'm adding extra spaces in there so the website won't make the BB Code active.

Next thing you want to do is to add the text you want other users to click on to follow the link. You could use the traditional:

Click Here

Since you don't want the entire rest of the document to be a link, you need to tell the computer where the link ends, that is, you need a closing tag. In the case of linking, that would be this:

[ / link ]

All together our Google link example would look like this:

Click Here

And the code behind it looks like this:

[ link = http://www.google.com/ ] Click Here [ / link ]


The sweet thing about the Easy Tags is that all you need to do is select the text you want to modify and then click the Easy Tag and the website types in the BB code for you. In the case of the Link Text you still need to add the URL, but it saves remembering all the BB Code tags. "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!"

lol - Tom Servo rocks. Btw, it looks like there are a few bugs in your new links.

On the Tom Servo link, you added the URL after the "URL Here" text that is supposed to be replaced, so the Porn Users server got all confused (I fixed it in the above quote). In the "Your Avatar" link , it looks like you replaced the "Here" but not the "URL ", so again the server is confused, and again with "2008 PU Forum Awards" the address starts with "url" so I'm guessing not all of the "URL Here" was deleted again.

The trick is that after the "link=" everything should be the address until that "]". So for the "Your Avatar" link, you should put this inside the brackets:

link=https://www.pornusers.com/forum/forum_thr...&showPost=82#_82

and then the text you want people to click:

"Your Avatar"

and then the closing tag:

[/ link] (remove that space between the "/" and the "link")

It's good for an avitar can have a connection with the username, but this is not a hsrd and fast rule. One of the funiest avitars I saw was on Girls Out West, where a user calling himself 'Fanicer" had an avitar of an old genleman toad with a cane.

In my case, a picture of a ram's scrotum would be the ideal pic. But I think it might be a bit crass, given this site's rules. So I decided on a ram's head. My previous avitar was a cross-looking black pig, and I guess I could have change my name to 'crosspig"

I like my avitars to be funny. And that presetned a problem. Ram's faces tend not to be very expressive, so I added a comical grin to my ram's head.

I'm still decideg whether to go mack to the pig, and use the name "crosspig"

I actually liked your old avatar better (although I do like your new one, too!). Yes, he was a rather intimidating looking pig, but he really looked like someone you wouldn't want to mess with. I mean, a pig like that must have a hell of a scrotum (no I don't want to see it, just the thought is enough!) Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb. - Batman
