The Porn Laws On Location?????? Thinking n Trying 2 start a web site. Does anyone no the laws about as to where porn can be filmed. Let me explain . Ive signed up 2 at least 50 Sites almost all the porn ive seen iz filmed in Florida or California. My buddy said that U cant film porn in alot of states. Also said it had 2 be filmed n only like 3 states. Question 1 Does anyone no the laws about filming and starting a WebSite? Basically Can i record porn in virgina to start a website? Does anyone no also where to get like the contract between Porn stars and who ever is paying them. Or iz it something that a lawyer wud write up?? Please if anyone nose if i can start a web site in va. As in record some of virginia beachs finest raw talent As in exclusive material. Iz this possible or iz it more to this than meats the eye??? A webmaster forum would be a more appropriate place for this type of discussion. But this one time, I'll see if I can help point you in the right direction. First off, you really need to contact a lawyer before moving ahead with your project. You'll need to make sure you cover your ass with regards to model releases, 2257 record keeping, etc. Also note, getting content is only one part (the easiest part, actually) of having a successful adult site. Be ready to work very long hours for quite a while before you see any return on your investment of money or time. Technically, if you're shooting hardcore in the US, you'll need to be in CA ... southern CA to be more exact. That's the only place it's been tested in the courts. Otherwise, you open yourself up to pandering / pimping charges if you arrange sex for money. As far as shooting porn in Va Bch ... I wish you luck. Remember if you're shooting girls from the beach you may find the same problems as the Girls-Gone-Wild bunch. As it happens, I shot softcore stuff in that area about 10 years ago. Don't know about now but back then, the papers were funny about what kind of ad (for models) you could run. You may also find some zoning issues since much of Va Bch politics was (is?) heavily influenced by the CBN group. But again, talk to a lawyer who's familiar with the adult web before you go too far down that path. PS. BTW, if you open ANY adult site, you'll no longer be eligible to have a PornUsers User account. This is and admirable venture for sure. A few years ago I looked into doing this with some investors. When we bought a key porn site name ( still own it but is inoperable for years just a name no porn site) years ago. I agree with Khan on this the shooting and even the website and getting a Good deal on a server isn't the hardest part. Its getting all the legal ducks in a row. There are many variables, even if you know of a person running a website from VA, they may have or been exempt due to some grandfather clause in a law. Its important to realize that yearly over the last 10 year the INTERNET has been popular, states are learning about regulating and applying laws. So the case of opening a site needs to be current on laws and regulations in its operations. I live in the northwest and this was a impossibility, we even tried leasing a server elsewhere and still no luck. Now its not possible by any means. What many do is shoot where they shouldn't be. And thats gonna leads to trouble. I have heard of several low end studios up in Seattle doing just this and reselling to areas that are legal. Making a dangerous situation legally get them in hot water. I have about 15 (non porn) sites I run and even running these is time consuming to say the least. So would be a 24/7 job for awhile. There are a lot of things I love about Virginia, but their big ol' list of sex laws definitely isn't one of them. Technically intercourse between anyone who is not married is still on the books as a misdemeanor, though this was found to be unconstitutional a few years back. Regarding porn though -- defined as "obscene" -- it is also illegal: here and here. You might possibly be able to shoot in Virginia if there was no way to prove the material was ever actually captured there, but this would be a big legal risk. VA is just not the place for making porn (well, neither is most of the US as you mentioned), and the laws are pretty Draconian to say the least. Thanks Khan you have helped me a great deal.But hearing this was a big let down. Only because n the back of my mind for the last couple years I ben thinking that i can makee it in the porn industry with a small website. Ive ben looking at porn for 15yrs. Internet porn for bout 7yrs. Downloading for only about 4yrs. Anyway Ive always had a way of making some extra money off of selling porn weather it b when i started with VHSz then of corse DVDz. Yea i had a budddy who worked n a adult dvd store. I wud go in there n get arond 25 DVDz N i wud give him like a hundred bucks. Hey this was also 5or6 years ago so that was a pretty killer deal back then. But now you cant give dvdz away.I wud do that like twice a week for several months so u can imagine my collection grew very fast. I was making copies of em n selling em 5 bucks each or 3 for ten. N even when i wud go to work i wud carry a book full of dvdz with me and a portable dvd player to show the buyer that they were legite. N im a good salesman i wud spot my next custermer from across the parkin lot. Anyhow ive even sold a couple of good friendz external hard drives for like i told em buy the hard drive give me a couple hundred bucks n return il give you a few hundred gigz off high def porn most a my collection iz softcore maserbation n high def. N their aint to much left out there for me to get off the web so whats next for the kidd who nose. In i no u got a lot of post to read so i wont keep boring u with my whatever u wana call it. Yo whats up Cybertoad. Ive ben reading a lot of replys and forums for da last couple months. N yes ive seen quite a few of yours and you sound like some one i wud get along with. as in you sound cool like me. Yea it sounds like its more to it then i thought. Hey they told me im only sapose to use my right hand n arm 4 transfers. u no from my bed to my wheelchair transfers. They said if i break what theve put in my arms then we wud back ware we startyed at least with da rght are. Its missing a big piece of bone sapose to hace another surgery on it. Its weird cuz it hurts like a beotch. I no i make no sense but hey wud u if u ben threw what ive been threw. proly not either. ive fell like twice since i ben home from da hospital. If it's strictly softcore, you may still be able to move ahead. As far as your other questions, if you'll do a Google search on "adult webmaster resource" I'm sure you'll find several sites that can help. If I might add ... I'm a bit concerned that you mention that you bootlegged DVD's and are selling hard drives full of porn you've downloaded. Both are illegal activities, of course. Not only is it copyright infringement but you've also put yourself in the postilion of distributing porn without proof of age for the models. You may want to rethink these activities as I'm guessing the last thing a person in your condition needs is some huge fines and/or jail time. My big concern is that those who find it easy to rationalize illegal activities don't generally add much to the online porn industry. When they don't see money coming in quickly, they often turn to the "dark side" and we end up with yet another creep stealing content and ripping off surfers. We have more than our share of creeps in this industry so you'll understand if I'm not anxious to see their numbers grow. So, by all means, consult with a lawyer and see what your options are. But, if you're not the type who's going to be willing to wait until you've built a web business to (legally) earn some returns, then please do us all a favor and take up another vocation. Sorry if this sounds harsh but I've been helping new webmasters for well over a decade now and unfortunately, have seen more than my fair share go to the dark side. Yep I again agree with Khan here ( whats wrong with me lol ) Just kidding. But seriously, over the years I have had huge free access through friends toi get this stuff for free. While honestly I took a few freebies, i knew that it would not be good if I kept it up sharing my stuff and getting it, but that was many years ago about the time I was looking at the new possible site and thought about sneaking some of my collection in it . Way before the law looked at the net. But I ended up not doing the site and doing the right thing. Bootlegging is still popular on limewire and others and its not a good idea to share or get used porn, many .mov files are tagged ( read news groups ) by the industry to sell the ips to Adult owners so they can track what you download from them and what you share illegally. I have heard its only the largest sites for now, hustler , playboy etc. But be careful what you get it may come attached. My own sites, Hmmm for those of you that are judgemental do not read farther, cause I do not want to hear it. I run several free sites , one is a Christian based site where it helps you adjust AA with the Bible, and I even went to theology school. NO....this is not a conflcit for me, and if you think being a member here at PU is a sin screw you the reader because I do not care if you think this is cool or not to mix it. I look at it this way, My God gave me this ability and if hes not happy with what we do ( if you beleive in God ) then you / I can deal with that youselves and him if needed, ( I do not need to I already talk with him about it), I have and I am ok with my life , better then ok and I have a great relationship wth my higher power. And I am honest with him about how I deal and feel in my life. Other sites are a free in all nature, so to answer the question everything I do is free for ppl. I run and own a airport website. I would be a little more careful about saying those sort of things online, here or anywhere for that matter. People being sued for downloading music (whether or not they did is irrelevant) literally every day. The average settlement is $3000. By merely mentioning that you did, previously or otherwise, can draw unwanted attention to yourself. I would hate to see you end up getting sued over it, or have this site condemned because people are discussing it here. The guy who made DVD-Decrypter had his site taken away and every move he makes on the internet, including instant messages, is recorded and reviewed. He has no privacy now! Odd are you wont get caught , but you also could. Would I like free porn sure, but I wouldnt do it because A: it does hurt and raises prices and B: its just not cool. These porn stars are already abused in this system at times, many getting $250- 750 and thats it a shoot if their lucky. Only top names make the big buck, its just like hollywood ppl B actors get B pay. So anyone that bootlegs think about what it cost to make them and you may think twice of bootlegging. Industrial strength spell checker...I like that RagingB. He is right though, I have a hard time talking people seriously who misspell everything. You certainly can not do any legal paperwork for a website not spelling correctly. Typos have a tendency of making documents invalid. You mouth (keyboard) can get you in a lot of trouble. Here is an example; a man said he was LOOKING for child porn, he did not say he had, his posting saying he was looking counted. The First Amendment does not apply here and he is now serving five years. Also, like I previously said, you do not want to expose yourself to anything like copying movies and such. What you at home that is less than legal is your business, just dont advertise it, especially on the internet. Would you go to a police station and say that you beat your girlfriend with your metal cased keyboard. Of course not, because guilty or not they are going to arrest you. Copying stuff for personal use has drawn $3000 dollar settlements. And, they do not have to prove that you did it because they are filing in a civil court. Basically you get served on Monday and you are required to appear in court 3000 miles away Tuesday morning. Since you obviously can not show up you lose by default and you must pay $3000. If you decide to show up it will end up costing over $60,000 to fight based on people who have already. Now you also mention selling to friends. Whether it is true or not is irrelevant. Now they press charges of copyright infringement. In this case you are 10,000% fucked. You might be able to deal with $3000, but this commands $175,000 per offense in recent cases. One disk is one offense, a single file on the hard drive is one offense. It would not take much here for you to be in more debt than the USA considering how many files can fit on a single hard drive. I am not making any of this up, and yes it is meant to scare you into keeping your mouth shut about these sort of things. Honestly I am surprised PU did not simply delete the post just to keep clear of anything. As for you question to Khan. One brick is not much and it can not do much, but enough bricks make a wall, even more and you have a house. The point is that while one might not matter, enough ones together eventually add up and suddenly the whole industry is corrupt and I am living off the porn I have collected and can get no more new stuff. I am fearful of this and thus I have been hoarding. It is not paranoia if it actually happens! :) Besides, porn sites are practically a steal if you compare the price and amount of content to a DVD or a magazine on the newsstand. So by all means, show your buddies a video or two, show them the site, and have them at least pay for their own membership. "There is no such thing as a free lunch." Some of us have a little less time to read everything on here so if it easy to read it is more likely to be read. When you are typing and you see all those red squiggly lines under 98% of your post, we see the exact same thing! You say you are bored at 4 Am and have nothing to do.
