Should PU add a thread labelled RIP for good porn sites that have bit the dust?

I just noticed that JustTeens site has died.
Or maybe I noticed it earlier, but am at an age where I tend to forget things.
Anyway, the site had a lot of nice photosets of very attractive models.
Are those photosets now lost to us if we haven't download them to our hard drives?

If so, seems like a waste of assets that should have value.
I mean, some of the photos were worth looking at.

Just my thoughts. But I'm assuming that porn is still have a hard time recovering from the financial downturn that started several years ago. Maybe the tube sites are partially to blame. Or other factors. Whatever. I am a porn user, not in the industry, so have a very limited access to details about the porn industry.

Maybe PU could retain a thread on some of our favorite sites that have died.

I think this is a great idea. Nothing is more frustrating than when you visit a site, finally determined to join, and find that it has closed. I once started a similar thread on a porn forum focused just on pee, and sadly it has been one of the most active threads for over a year and going strong. I was really curious to see a similar thread on porn overall, so hopefully this thread takes off too.

Some are lost, others are not. I have reached out to many webmasters to purchase old content. From my own experience, any number of things can happen. Some webmasters enjoy porn as much as we do and they are likely to keep copies of their sites long after they close. Some may still sell it for the right price, others have given it away for free out of generosity, while others can't be bothered to take the time for any price. Just today, I am finalizing a deal to acquire all peeing photos from a site that was forced to close by it's billing company last January for featuring "extreme" content. I was expecting to pay more, but the webmaster is asking just a little over the price of a membership.

Sometimes webmasters keep the content, but it just sits around collecting dust. One of my best finds was an entire site with 60,000 pics and videos that I purchased 8 years after its closing. The webmaster had to open up an old storage unit, dig out a PC from 2005, and swap the hard drive into a new system in order to get the content. He obviously didn't put in any effort to preserve the content, but it ended up getting kept by chance. If I had waited until he decided to empty out the unit, that PC from 2005 that wouldn't boot would almost certainly have gone in the trash, along with what was probably the only remaining full copy of that site.

I know one model/webmaster who has given me a lot of amazing content from her old sites for free. She is an example of a webmaster who actually likes porn a lot, so she tried to keep everything. She still has everything from her sites featuring other models. She lost her copy of her original site featuring herself to a hard drive crash though, and she didn't have a backup copy.

Over time, I think it's safe to assume that the original copies of most closed sites will be lost due to neglect. Sometimes, the content is deleted at the time the site closes. I can think of a few sites that deleted their content because their contractual agreements with their models were non-transferable. It can't be found anywhere now, and it is probably gone for good. For some webmasters, porn is business, and as soon as the content is no longer making money online, it goes in the trash.

I think old internet porn is overall being badly preserved. It's just so easy to delete. It's common to assume that there are hundreds of people out there saving every bit of online porn, so deleting it is guilt free for most.

Here's my first contribution to this thread. Does anyone remember AG-Angels.net? It was a Greek site that featured solo girl, bg, and pee. I was lucky to download an entire copy of the site as a member right before it closed. Lower resolution versions of some of the photosets are still available on Athens-Girls.com, but most of them haven't been seen anywhere online for years. Better to be pissed on, than to be pissed off.

I wouldn't mind one of those but I think it would be a must if through this we could find out which site bought the dead one's content. This way there demise wouldn't be as painful. Long live the Brown Coats.

I had to dump well over a hundred VHS and Beta tapes and movies (many classics) that was taking up needed space around home;
all of which, included box upon boxes of vintage Playboy-mags I'd accumulated over the years -- for the obvious reasons, including but not limited to what with the advent of the Internet was offering ..... and the clear fact they became the victim of time-honored worthlessness.

I couldn't give the stuff away.
So to some degree I feel the pain of those about whom our worthy (and sorely missed) fellow member ( Il2fireone) have bought to our attention.

Well, this just might be the thread itself. After all, we are PU.

And so, on that note, here's a list of sites that have, most unfortunately (IMHO), bit the proverbial cyber-dust (in no particular order):

DNA
European Glamour Girls (still up, but now in "zombie" mode)
sunmod (Sanja Matic's site)
Eva's Garden
Hornypot
LustCircus
Czech-Babes.com (still up, but stopped updating YEARS ago)
PureBeautyMag
Superlicious
SheDontBlush
TopErotic
TopMiss (in French ... tant pis)

Perhaps we should also acknowledge sites that have survived for the past 10 years or longer:

MetArt
BikiniRiot
ATK Galleria
clubjanacova
Hegre-Art
PixAndVideo
ClubSandy
1byDay
KarupsPC
KarupsHA
ALSScans
InTheCrack
MCNudes
MPL Studios
Nubiles
Twistys
SimonScans

That's a partial list for both categories. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England. Edited on Aug 05, 2014, 06:52pm

Add to the gone-but-not-completely-forgotten:

ClubNella, which was replaced by NellasWorld, which disappeared just a couple of months after it replaced ClubNella, unfortunately.

And, since solo-girl sites have been some of my favorites, I'll also lament the loss of NaughtyGirlSandy.com, which was replaced by SandySummers.com, which has also disappeared. Her earliest solo-girl material, which was originally on SexyTeenSandy.com, can still be found at DigitalAngels.com

And another solo-girl site I can think of is AshleysCandy.com,which Spunky, the webmaster, pulled down at Ashley's family's request after her tragic death - she was hit by a truck crossing the street near where she lived. RIP Ashley - you were a fun, fine, very sexy girl. Edited on Aug 01, 2014, 11:47pm

I'm going with Capn on this, I like things upbeat and this would and does depress me. I know for a hard cold fact I have lost way more material form porn websites then I have now in sheer volume.

There are allot of sites losing material and getting old quick. It appears almost a thinning of the herd.

I just real some sites in the 1990 that are now internet power houses. And many a site went bye bye.

Now Id love to find some old hardrives somewhere with old shoots that would be awesome. Since 2007

I think this type of thread is useful, because it helps everyone to avoid inadvertently deleting irreplaceable content when cleaning up our collections.

Here are a few more that I already mentioned in other threads.

Clara-G.com
TotallyAnnette.com

I don't know if JustineJoli.com is dead or not.
There's a site http://clips4sale.com/justine-joli-s-clip-store
which seems to have a lot of Justine Joli vids and photos.
But this would be an expensive way to collect her material.

I met her once at Glamourcon in the Los Angeles area (the Playboy sponsored event that has former Playmates appearing) several years ago.

Cute girl.

Xisty.com

Does anyone remember that site? It features models such as Brittney, Candy, Peaches, Susanna Spears, etc. It opened in 2006 and closed in 2009. Now just a handful of their pics and videos can be found online. It's too bad because these are some high profile models that people like to collect, but now this portion of their careers looks like it is lost.

Good idea, but two thoughts.

1. With the virtual destruction of Twistys.com by the site's new owner. But it continues as if it's the same terrific site. What would be great would be an ownership change report on PU or TBP.

2. With many sites becoming dormant or nearly dormant with few if any new updates, it would be a great addition to the site facts page of TBP to indicate the dormancy and, if there's any back story info available, whether it will be rejuvenated.

1. A site's TBP listing page will tell you who the current owner is.

2. A site's TBP listing page (under Content Updates) will tell you the last time a site updated. Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

1. Yes, but there's no way to know when a change occurs and who the previous owner was.

2. Didn't know that but I do now! That's a great feature. Might be a good idea for me to spend more time reading everything first.

Just a few more words of hope here. You never know when you will finally come across something that you thought was lost. I mentioned that I was recently lucky enough to get in touch with a webmaster whose site was put out of business by its payment processor for violating its content guidelines. She was kind enough to allow me to purchase whatever photosets I was interested in, and I just finished downloading them today. This includes content from her site as well as unreleased stuff. Not only that, but I learned that she kept the content from another of her sites that closed in 2008. I remembered that site closing, and it was one that I had given up hope on years ago. I'd say which sites I am referring to, but I'm not sure if the webmaster would appreciate me doing that. If anyone here is really dying for rare photos featuring women peeing, then PM me, and I'll point you in the right direction. The bottom line is, if you missed out on something, don't give up. With persistence you may still be able to find it plus much more. I will definitely appreciate these photos so much more, just due to the chain of events that brought them to me.

Having this thread will allow us to compare notes and expand our searches, thereby increasing our odds of success in looking for whatever it is we missed out on. Happy hunting everyone! Better to be pissed on, than to be pissed off. Edited on Aug 08, 2014, 02:41pm (LPee23: corrected typo)

I had to check when you joined PU. The webmaster, don't remember his name, had gotten several of us PU members to give him advice on Xisty. If I remember right he was a businessman (no real knowledge of porn, porn models or porn sites). It was one of my favorite sites and he even had some rare stashed content that had never been released. He would put those up on a private server and give you a temporary username and password to download those rare ones of your favorite models. He used to email me about once a month, but I haven't heard from him since 2009. Looking at an old external, I still have roughly 100 GB of content from it. There was another Babelicious, that was real strong, similar content, that also went downhill right around the same time Xisty did. My first time I jacked off, I thought I'd invented it. I looked down at my sloppy handful of junk and thought, This is going to make me rich. - Chuck Palahniuk

I've been watching porn online since 1996, but I only joined PU recently.

The owner of Xisty.com went by the name "Fred." In addition to running his own studio, he licensed content out to others. The ATK photosets credited to "Fred" were his work. Better to be pissed on, than to be pissed off.

I warned months ago when this site was going down the tubes that it will be closed soon, and now it has happened. Hopefully, those of you who wanted to see this site had your chance. I downloaded all of their peeing content, but didn't have the time to get a full copy of the entire site.

The scenes that I have feature European models including Aiden, Cameron, Conny, Diana, Evelyn, Fiona, Karyna, Ketty, Klarys, Pavla Lee, Rachel Evans, Sharka Blue, and Winnie. Thanks again lk2fireone for starting this thread, it hits close to the heart of why I collect porn.

I think that we are in a golden age of porn of historic proportions. Mainstream porn seems to have had its first golden age in the 70's and 80's, but this right now is really the first golden age porn having to do with my favorite genre. It's never come into the mainstream like this before in such a great quantity. It's easy to take it all for granted and because of that, so many consumers and producers alike don't put a lot of effort into preserving older content. I think this is a mistake, but it will only be widely realized years down the road.

Check out this exhibit on lost art: http://galleryoflostart.com/

Also check out this article on lost films: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_film

And this quote from the article:

The largest cause of silent film loss was intentional destruction, as silent films were perceived as having little or no commercial value after the end of the silent era by 1930. Film preservationist Robert A. Harris has said, "Most of the early films did not survive because of wholesale junking by the studios. There was no thought of ever saving these films. They simply needed vault space and the materials were expensive to house."

Aren't the parallels to older porn striking? Much porn from the 1990's to today will be lost for this reason. There is too much porn out there overall for one person to put a dent in any sort of effort at preservation, so I chose to take a narrow focus. While I like solo girl and hardcore as much as the next guy, I chose to build a collection of epic proportions around my absolute favorite niche - pee fetish porn - a niche that has recently come to explode like never before in history. My goal is simple - to download all pee fetish porn online. I am at the half way point right now, having all pee fetish porn from hundreds of sites after hitting the largest ones first, and there is no stopping now. The greatest satisfaction for me is not just when I add an additional site to my collection, but when I recover one that has closed, or when I get to a good site before the lights go out.

So what will eventually happen with my collection? I will ensure that it lives on in some way or another, but I'm still only 30, so that is a long ways away.

As for the sites that have been missed, some may yet be recovered, while others will be near totally lost. There are some absolutely amazing ones that have closed, and they will never be seen in entirety again. I look at these photos and videos, and I see everything from snapshots and point-and-shoot camera work, to the work of talented artists who have gone off the beaten path into porn, and failed commercially.

Some of the partial copies of lost sites in my collection are so stunning, yet so irrevocably lost, that they are somewhat painful to look at even years after the fact. I have been thinking lately that, while I cannot recover these sites, I can take inspiration from them and start my own. If things keep going as planned, I will have the resources for a professional operation in a matter of years. The biggest obstacle will be convincing my wife. I mean, she loves porn, and she does run a few non-adult websites, but still. Let's just say we're working on it. I feel so strongly about porn, as you guys know, that I am increasingly feeling that this is something that I need to do. Better to be pissed on, than to be pissed off. This the site that I regret missing the most. It hurt all the more that I was in touch with the photographer after closing, yet she wouldn't sell anything for personal use, not even for an over the top amount of cash.

Check out her landing page now: http://bodyparts.biz

Her domain name is expired, but the server is still running: http://199.59.95.236

Her old blog is still here on her server with her old free samples, if you missed out, and you want just a taste: http://199.59.95.236/wp/

I have more to say about this site, but I am too busy tonight. It is the one that got away though, and I regret it a lot. Better to be pissed on, than to be pissed off. Edited on Aug 19, 2014, 04:29pm

That is what happened to the earlier episodes of Dr. Who. Someone at BBC need more room and a lot of the original early episodes were trashed. I guess they have found some, that people recorded, but it quite a loss to us who loved Dr. Who.
Some episodes will never be recovered. Warning Will Robinson

Glad you are still going strong! Needless to say, AW was amazing in the 2000's, and is still amazing now. To keep this thread alive, here's a bit of good news. Occasionally you see the content from a dead site resurface elsewhere, and this is one of the best cases I've come across.

SusysDesperation.com was a solo girl site featuring Susy, a very hot woman in her late 30's who made some of my favorite peeing shoots ever. She started out posting shoots on redclouds.com, shot by her husband, and started her own site in 2003. It was not typical amateur porn. She had the body of a model, he was clearly talented at photography, and their shoots were high quality and well composed. They always had nice settings, good outfits, and she struck some amazing poses for an amateur. The site got some notice for a few years, but it closed in 2005, long before I had a chance to join. Missing out on that site was a sore point for many years. I had tried searching for her content extensively and asked around, but I had no luck except for a handful of random photos that I found.

Then, in January of this year, I was browsing through TACAmateurs.com, and I came across the familiar face of Susy. Apparently she has posted almost all of her scenes there under the name SusanRocks. Resolution ranges from 720x960 to 800x1200, which is very good for the era in which it was shot. Given that her content is getting no active promotion - actually it was almost impossible to find despite my dedicated searching for years - I don't think it could hurt to post a sample here. Hopefully, it helps get the site some sales.

She is one of my top three favorite models of all time. Better to be pissed on, than to be pissed off.

Frannie Adams from bodyparts.biz had some amazing erotica. If the owner of this content ever came forward, there would be $XXXX.XX in it from me alone for sure!

I once even talked to a major network that was ready to offer to take over the expenses and operations of the site for a 50% share of profits, but sadly I sent out this offer right before her email server went permanently offline, and I never knew if she got it or not.

After writing this all, I have to apologize in advance for this epic post. I try to make most of my posts interesting to you, the readers here, and concise. I admit right up front that this post is all about me, and it is definitely not concise, but I have needed to get this out for a while.

I figure tonight is as good a night as any to get nostalgic and finally get the story out here. I've got the place to myself, a nice bottle of wine on hand, and nothing but peace and quiet, so here goes.

Bodyparts.biz was probably the best site that you have never heard of. It featured the photography of Frannie Adams, a true artist, who focused her talent on the erotic. Frannie is probably best known for her "Pussy Portrait" books, where she was the first to publish a series of beautiful facial portraits, each juxtaposed to an equally beautiful "Pussy Portrait." This concept has been copied by others, if you have been to many sites then maybe you can think of one in particular, but it started with her, and it is one of her unique trademarks.

She published another photo book, "Bedroom Voyeur," that explored more voyeuristic themes. It featured staged upskirts, shots through peepholes, and a few shots of women on or near the toilet, but no peeing.

One day, I found her site, bodyparts.biz. I checked out the samples on her landing page, and more samples on her blog, and they were amazing. I couldn't put my finger on it yet what was so great about them, but they made an impression. As I looked further, I saw from her samples that she had a number of peeing shoots too, so this was right up my alley.

I was determined to join, actually she was next on my list, but I had this huge project for work hitting a deadline soon. So, I did what I had to do, and put work first.

Then, I checked back in at her landing page, and I noticed her site had been discounted to $15.00 for a month. "The best deal on the net." It certainly was, but this was very concerning to me. I had seen enough sites close, that I know drastic sales out of the blue are a warning sign. Getting worried, I checked her traffic, but the numbers seemed good. So I said to myself, just wait until this project is over in a couple of weeks, the site will still be around, then I'll join.

So I knock this particular project out of the park, then later that night sit down victoriously to sign up for bodyparts.biz. I was greeted by words that are now unfortunately burned into my mind, "Body Parts is now closed. Thank you for your patronage."

This is the part where words just don't do the feeling justice. It sounds ridiculous to compare a porn site closing, even an artistic one, to great works of art being lost, but that is how it feels. The feeling was the same that I had seeing the video of the Buddhas of Bamiyan being destroyed in early 2001, only it was much more personal.

But the sadness hadn't really sunk in yet, actually I was heartened by my recent luck in recovering some long lost favorite sites by dealing directly with webmasters. I just needed a way to get in touch, so I turned to google, and found that she had an email address posted to her clips4sale.com video store. Worried that she would soon be signing out of that email for good and closing her C4S store, I bought some clips, then I sent her an email that I hoped would be both concise and compelling.

She replied a few days later, and we would shoot emails back and forth for the next six months or so. She was always pleasant and I appreciate her taking the time to reply! While what I really wanted were her peeing shoots from bodyparts.biz, she directed me to buy her books, and said that she was in negotiations to sell her site, and would give me the link if that happened. Every time I made an offer for photos from the site, however, the offer was ignored. I could understand things from her point of view, she ran a site with thousands of customers, so what is one more? While I offered several thousands of dollars, it often requires a truly life changing offer to impact someone who is checked out, and apparently my offer was not enough. Not willing to give up there, I got in touch with some of my connections. I had a major network, top 10 here on PU, poised to potentially offer her generous compensation for licensing her content, and I sent her the good news. Unfortunately, this was right before her domain expired, and her email server went offline right after that, so I don't even know if she got the email.

My wife later found the word file where I drafted the last email that I sent her, and she gave me such a hard time, in a joking way. She teased me that the letter was the best, most inspired piece of writing she has ever seen me compose. Why couldn't I bring the same enthusiasm to her Christmas cards! She was taken back for a day or so by the amount that I offered too, but I made it up to her with her Christmas gift.

Anyway, now I have no way of reaching Frannie, and hope of ever seeing her work should be fading, but I keep hanging on to it. I remember going back over her photos from her blog and elsewhere, and thinking to myself, if her site had not closed before I could have joined, then I would have downloaded just the peeing shoots, stashed them away, and moved on. Instead, I found myself treasuring every single photo of hers that I had, and taking in the detail like I never would have otherwise.

I noticed the soft yet intense quality of her lighting, the deliberate saturated highlights in the background giving her shoots an ethereal feel, and the delicious subtle highlights washing over her models' skin tones. I noticed her composition, focusing on one body part, treating it as the subject, then moving to the next. I noticed the unique lighting for her close ups, the "closest close ups on the web," as she called them. I think she used a ring flash.

As I started to come to terms with the reality that I may never see the full body of her work, I was just left with this profound dissatisfaction. I had to find the silver lining, turn it into something positive. I do know, for a fact, that if I had downloaded the shoots that I wanted while her site was around, I would have stashed them away, and never been so inspired by them. That is certainly true. I would have recognized them as great photos, but I would not have truly taken them in for all their detail and understood what makes them that way.

So, I have been inspired. Not just a little either. There are ideas, and then there are ideas that have a force of their own, that move you to action. I have had precious few that have truly moved me to action, day in and day out throughout my life, but the ones that do this have shaped the course of my life. This new idea is that I can appreciate beauty in erotic art, so now I should create it, and inspiration is nothing if you don't act on it.

It doesn't even make sense for me to shoot erotic art at all, it's a bad business venture, and it's a risk to reputation. At the same time, I just keep coming back to this idea, and it's been more than a year.

Thanks for hanging in there if you made it to the end. It's great to have a place to share stories like this at PU. Better to be pissed on, than to be pissed off. Edited on Feb 07, 2015, 09:13pm

Yeah, so this is where I hang up the mic and walk off stage, for this thread at least. Didn't expect anyone to have much to say after that last post, unless you had a similar experience, but it was good to put it all to words.

I'll keep holding out hope. Just today, a model and penthouse pet emailed me back after 6 months, and she is going to help me track down her lost peeing shoots from her solo girl site that closed last year. So, you never know. Better to be pissed on, than to be pissed off. Edited on Feb 24, 2015, 07:08pm

You know how the old saying goes (and you always know better than anybody if it's Show-Biz ) about timely getting out the "low-down on our celebrities).

Summed up in the popular phase that put the Inquirer on the map: ........ "Inquiring minds wanna know."
