Best way to buy? Am i right in thinking that the best way to buy from a porn site is with a pre paid credit card or a 'gift' credit card as some of them are sold? Anyone had any issues? Any dos and don'ts for a first time buyer? Any problems with any of the major credit cards? Also, storage for downloads, does everyone just go for an external drive? Anyone got any recommendations? Interested to hear anyones thoughts or experiences on any of the above. | |

Hi theduekesdealer. A couple of thoughts on your issues. I've never used a pre-paid card, but I check the statement of the card I use carefully. Similarly, make sure you read the fine print on the sites you're joining, particularly if you check a cross-sale box. I've had almost no issues in the 15 years I've been downloading porn. But I read reviews, avoid bad actors, and try to use only one of the major billers. If you do call a bank or CC company about your porn site purchases, which I have done, they'll tippie toe around the fact that it's a porn site. It's pretty funny. But if they're a reputable financial institution, they'll still address your issues. I use three external hard drives for my porn storage. It's up to you on how you store your porn, but I strongly urge you to come up with some system for naming and organizing your porn collection. I use nesting folders as they tend to load a bit faster than putting everything in one folder. If you go the external hard drive route, do a bit of homework on the reliability of the maker of the hard drive. I use Western Digital (WD) external hard drives and have never had any issue. If you use a gift card to pay for a porn membership, they discount the value of the card. So if you can use the gift card at the issuer's site/place, you get a better return on the value of the card. Pre-paid cards are fine to avoid false charges from some porn sites. But many pre-paid card have fees that make them expensive to use. But I've read that there are some pre-paid cards that don't have fees, or very low fees. External storage is the way to go, especially with hard drive prices dropping all the time. | |

I use a reloadable card and have not had any problems with it. I don't know about a gift card as some are not reloadable and might not be usable for sites which are monthly subscriptions. The best way is to put in the number and see what happens. Reloadable cards are the best way to go as you control what money to put in the card. Plus they can't take out money if it isn't there. Yeah, my assumption was that reloadable cards would have my name on, and a gift card would be more anonymous. But I have little experience with them so I don't know if that is true? I figured with the gift card version, I would get enough on it for a years subscription or whatever I wanted to buy, and then cancel before it runs out. Or, should they try to auto renew, or cross sell or the like, it will just be declined. | |

Amazing!  I see people in the reviews talking about some 'billers' being better than others. Is there any I should fully avoid? What kind of problems do they cause? | |

Yeah when I called my bank about an errant charge, the agent on the line said, "the charge is for an adult site" like it was shameful or something. I blithely said, "Yeah, you're my porn card," told them the name of the site, and the agent resolved my issue. I have run into a problem with billing just this week. "We Are Hairy" changed it's billing agent during my membership. When I went to cancel there was a link saying "For previous billers" and when I clicked on it, it went to the new biller. I cannot find a way to cancel without sending the site an email with the standard cancelation info (user name, registration number, etc.). It's annoying. I've run into a few bad billing agent companies in the fifteen years I've been doing online porn, but it's been few and far between. They usually have no way to cancel, and you'll end up having to deal with the issuer of your credit card to resolve the issue. Then you can see them tippy toe around the fact you used your credit card for an "adult site" for yourself.  Of course using a prepaid card or the like will circumvent some of these issues, but I've never found it to be that much of a problem, so I don't use them. For the record, I usually have one or two porn subscriptions active any given month, so if you go hog wild with the subscriptions YMMV. Sadly though less porn sites are using reputable billers like Epoch or CCbill and you see lots that have not great reps. Thanks for the links Admiral! They where really good reads. Should they not be sticky threads for all new users to see? Not surprised to hear GGG are shoddy / crooks / nefarious etc. I keep seeing comments from female stars saying they would 'never go back there' and complaining about the set up and the way they where treated... which is a pity as I do like their content. Looks like the two billers for Sinx.com (my chosen site) are on the good list too. I'll let you all know how I get on with the gift card approach. Thanks for all the help and input peeps!  | |
