Average Site Pricing. I know eveything goes up with inflation, but someting just struck me today. I am sure a few years ago the average price of a competent single porn site was around the $20.00 mark. Now it seems to be around £28, ( $45 ) Has there been a bit of a step change of late that I have only just noticed?  Surely I haven't been out of it THAT long!  Cap'n. My most expensive site is just under $20 to sign up (under $10 per month after that). I keep being told that I am undercharging for memberships but, in my experience, if I put the price up (eg $25) then sales simply stop. Webmaster of StripGameCentral and A Measure of Curiosity. | |

I don't have any statistics, but my general impression is that site prices have not gone up in recent years. They are one of the few things that have not. But I am using PU to look at site prices before joining, and with PU, you often get a nice discount from the regular site price. The price of most items, as I said, definitely creeps upwards over the years. Utility bills (gas, water, trash collection, telephone, etc.) keeps rising. Grocery prices rise. Newspaper, etc., etc. One of the few things that drop in prices are computers, and add-ons for computers (hard drives, monitors, etc.). | |

While I'm not sure if prices have gone up across the board - people still charging 25 - 30 a pop for some access, others have dropped their prices or stopped offering fresh content. Which must mean less people spending money on porn. And it seems there are more models than ever as the world economies wallow in the doldrums with inflation and tight job markets. One would think this would put pressure on content makers to offer up more appealing and innovative videos rather than the same old formulas. You have to pay the same price for the model but 90% of videos follow that formula*. Seen one you've seen them all and the only thing that changes is the model. (In that 10% as it relates to BJ's, Jonni Darkko went outside the norm with his series on BJs. I find that site prices have generally been coming down, if you keep your eyes open for deals and are willing to join for longer terms. I can't say that I've seen any sites for $45 US. The most expensive area of sites that I have any interest in is solo-girl sites. They used to be in the $20 range, and now tend to be in the $25-$30/month range. | |

Seems about the same to me for one month solo site. Never used review site promo prices, but usually were ~$30 for video site for one month (DVD sites exception), and cheaper than the past for extended mems (ex. more sites w/ ~$90-100/yr sub) Definately the regional deal, or no deal. | |

My impression is newer sites are charging more, while older site are holding or dropping to hold on to customer base. I was offered several 50% off this last year. And one 5 days free. No OB Toad Since 2007 | |

I'd say that many of the big sites/network have dropped their prices for a one month membership or now offer better deals for longer terms. Many of the others have remained the same. Strangely sites like Ferro and Teencoreclub have both kept their prices the same and these are the 2 most expensive networks that I've ever joined. I regret joining Ferro but more because of the awful content then the price. Long live the Brown Coats. | |

New sites might charge more, or follow common practice and charge what the majority charge because it seems like a good place to start. We took a long look at pricing over the Summer and really had to ask why any site is $20-$30, even for the best content and the largest archive. Porn is no longer an insulated entertainment channel. We are competing with all online options for the same amount of consumer cash, and this includes services like Netflix, Gamefly, sports insider sites, gossip sites, pay for content blogs, Groupon, and almost anything else a user could choose to spend their entertainment budget on. Bottom line is monthly site fees average $5-$10, not $20-$30. We adjusted our pricing to match these mainstream options and saw an immediate 500% increase in conversion and retention, and it hasn't stopped improving. In the end, FigureBaby does much better at $6 than it ever did at $18, and that means more profit and more photos and more growth. Hopefully, I, and the other site owners who commented here, can lead the way as advocates for lower prices. It works, it's fair, and we can prove it. | |

I guess regional pricing must suck pretty bad... I have never joined a site for more than $40 that I can recall, and as many have said, usually spend $20-30. I guess everything is more expensive in the UK, I remember the last time I was there thinking the beer prices were consistent with US prices, until I remembered they were in Pounds... Good topic. I have all the stills and photos Ive been shooting since 1993. Im highly considering opening up a pix site, a films site and a fetish site and offering each of them at 9.95. My thought is that a lot of this is retro porn shot all the way back to film and 8mm video.
