Porn stars on social media Do you follow or interact with porn models on social media? If so, what platforms do you use? Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Facebook, FetLife, something else? As for me, I tried following a couple on Twitter, but didn't really get into it. I PM'd them each a question that I wanted to ask, didn't get a response, and instead just got inundated with a bunch of tweets about the minute details of their daily lives. What have your experiences been? Better to be pissed on, than to be pissed off. | |

Being in the industry, our social accounts follow many pornstars/cam performers and it seems that their social media platforms are used more to promote their work. I imagine them checking their Facebook messages and Twitter DMs presents a sea of penis pictures. At least that's what I have heard/seen from many cam girls.  | |

I followed a few back a while ago but didn't get much value out of it. But, I find that is the case with most celebrities/famous people in general. For most of them it feels like a marketing/promotion tool as well as lots of, as you put it, "minute details of their daily lives." Neither of which interest me that much of bring much value in making the effort to follow them and stay up on their posts Wow, that made me sound pretty cranky didn't it? lol | |

I don't personally follow anyone on social media platforms and that goes double for porn performers. In fact if I had one piece of advice to give to someone who is considering following his/her favorite performer than it would simply be...Don't Do It. The main reason why you would want to avoid following your favorite performer is that you may discover that they are quite boring, quite dumb, possibly very racist or mostly care about getting free stuff from fans that gladly spend their hard earned money buying an article on their girls Amazon wish list. I don't follow anybody, but lately I have noticed some porn starlets on Chaturbate. Yesterday I saw Dakota Sky AND Emily Bloom in separate chats. They did not appear to be performing, but were interacting with their fans. (Didn't stop people from sending them tips, though....) Many years ago, Gen Padova had a forum on her website where she interacted with her community. I remember some very interesting discussions with her and the other memebers, most of them not porn related. She was eloquent and well educated, definitely not the usual porn star. These days, most twitter accounts are just a bunch of retweets of the girl's latest shoot for site XY and "I'm live on camsite youknowwat" along with some random statements. | |

I follow various porn babes on Twitter. I "like" the photos and gifs that are posted. I've had Twitter convos with Jenna Haze about music - she's got really good taste - and with August Ames about MMA - so I find it fun to interact with porn performers/producers that do more than just self-promotion on social media - not that I begrudge anybody using social media for self-promotion. | |

I just discovered Harriet Sugarcookie a few minutes ago through TBP. She seems to have a rather big social media presence. The review mentions you can add her on PSN and play games with her which is pretty cool (though I have to imagine her friends list must be pretty full). But also, she's friggin hot. I'm going to echo what pat362 said above. If you're a fan of someone, you probably shouldn't go see what they're saying and doing on social media. There are lots of people in the entertainment industry who don't get my dollars anymore because of things they've posted on social media. | |

Interesting. I really haven't found that. I suppose that if a girl that I was hot for showed herself as being a really awful human being, I'd be grateful to find that out, and I'd move onto the next hot girl. But I can't recall a single porn babe that I have followed on social media that has turned me off by their postings - usually I find myself liking them more. | |

^Consider yourself lucky because there have a been quite a few posts on another forum regarding this very subject and the performers never come out looking very nice. In some of them they come out sounding like miserable people and although I agree with you that it's good to know. Part of me can't help but feel that it would have been better if I had never known about their personal views on some subjects because this way I could have enjoyed their work. It's much worse for mainstream performers because they have so many more fans. Let's pick Mel Gibson as an example. I can still watch Mel Gibson but in many ways I now know that I'm looking at an asshole. Long live the Brown Coats. | |

With Mel Gibson, it's like a double-edged sword. He's played plenty of damaged characters that knowing how messed up he is in real life makes those characters resonate even more. On the other hand, knowing how messed up he is in real life makes it a lot harder to believe him as a good guy. I don't believe that I have watched a single Woody Allen movie since he hooked up with Mia Farrow's adopted daughter. That kind of adopt-a-date thing is just beyond the pale to me. Similarly - and even more so - being a pro wrestling fan, I found it extremely disheartening to see how many other pro wrestling fans were effusive in their love for Jimmy Snuka when he died recently, when the guy only avoided a trial for the murder of his girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, 30 years before because of the corruption of the legal system at that time, and the advancement of his impending doom when the charges were finally filed in late 2016. If someone just has an opinion that I disagree with, I don't find any reason to renounce my fandom. Hell, I find Clint Eastwood's political viewpoint completely onerous, but I also think he's a great artist who has made an incredible number of brilliant films, and I don't regret watching a single one of them. | |

I would give a word of warning... If you want to think of someone as more of a fantasy than a reality, you might not want to follow their social media feeds. Some pornstars really keep it business like, but others can share TMI! I've read Tweets from some performers that went to some really dark places. Not really related to their jobs, but to things in their lives that to me would be best confided to a close family member or friend. I find a lot of folks these days overshare on social media and it can permanently alter the image other individuals have of a person over things that really weren't their business to know in the first place. Also, sometimes you'll see a pornstar express a view about politics, social issues, etc. that might not sit well with you. And for me, I don't find that as much of an issue with another kind of celebrity. But somehow when it comes to porn my dick can be a real prick when it comes to refusing to get hard for someone who I find offensive - even if intellectually I think that everyone is entitled to an opinion. | |
