Artsy Softcore Nude Sites They seem to be very 'in' at the moment. Everybody seems to think they have the 'finest' etc. etc. TBH I think the market for it is a bit limited & the market saturated. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot disappeared. What do you think? Cap'n. They come and go. I like them, but they usually have a year or two then go under. Then more come up and give it a try. Been like this for the past decade. I imagine their ultimate goal is to be picked up as a contributing photographer to Met-Art or FemJoy, I think that is where the real money is.

I don't know, Cap'n, they've been around for an awful long time. I've never subscribed to any of them because rather than look at bronzed, esthetically pleasing, nudes I would rather look at someone who's more natural with some flaws. The girl (or woman) next door preference is very strong in me. But to get back to your question. No, I think they'll survive because there are enough youngsters joining the ranks of porn users every day for whom nudity is enough. Hormones are raging and they are not jaded yet! PS. I was thinking of the established sites like FemJoy and Met-Art when I wrote the above. When it comes to new sites, I don't think so. Just like with new restaurants, 80% of them will most likely fail. Edited on May 05, 2010, 02:26pm

Okay, those are the sites I was thinking of in my reply. They've been around forever and chances are they'll stick around.

It just struck me that there seem to be an awful lot of them at the moment. I can't really see the market supporting all of them. Cap'n. Hard to say on how long the artsy phase will last. First, even for those of us into hardcore we sometimes venture to the dark artsy side of the street (guided by what Yoda calls the "the force" but is really just hormones that need to be "beaten into submission" for something different so it seems to me the good artsy sites like Met-Art probably have lots of subscribers. Also, artsy softcore sites probably find it easier to get hot new models (because it isn't really porn), get subscribers who wouldn't otherwise go to hardcore or toy oriented sites (because it isn't really porn), have kick ass quality because they have photographers who usually know what they're doing and want to highlight their work (because it isn't really porn), find it more socially acceptable like Playboy (because it isn't really porn) and find it relatively inexpensive to hire photographers and models from Eastern Europe to shoot their content (unlike most US/Western Europe porn). So, Capn, the market is saturated I grant you but is that really a bad thing ... isn't that like someone complaining about having too much sex. I also like to think that it is one of the few good trends in our perverted corner of the world. Playboy, Hustler, etc. never made the leap to the web until way too late and with mostly lame results. The big boys of the softcore world became Met-Art and a few others which, surprisingly, set the bar pretty high with good quality from the start. That forced the others to keep up with the trend and, perhaps unfortunately, focus too much on the artsy angle. I think a lot of these sites got their initial inspiration from Playboy and the rest which focus on airbrushed girls in seductive poses on couches made from the finest Corinthian leather, specialty Naugahyde, and rare imported pleather. Regular porn just seemed to throw some crap up on the web that we hungrily ate up without a lot of concern as to the quality of the product until the last few years when more sites like DDF and 21stSextury established some decent quality standards. Unfortunately, they continue to be the exception, not the standard.

There are certainly many various pros and cons to the artsy soft nude sites, much more than ever could be discussed in a single post. I don't think anyone will disagree that they are the easiest and cheapest to create content for. On top of that, this really can be a side hobby of someone for some extra cash, the site does not need to be a big money maker. A photographer can create a month's worth of updates in 3 days. Then I really think this is going to be the defining point in porn moving forward - ask yourself this question, who is going to pay for porn knowing it can be had for free by a simple google search? I believe those who like artsy soft nudes is high up on that list. The biggest con for these sites is the limited variety of girls. Go from one site to the next near all the girls on the first site are also found on the second. Due to the economics, you rarely if ever find exclusive girls on a small-time photography site, to make someone want to join it for more than the photographer's style. How often will you find on a smaller site a girl who is not also found on Met-Art? Actually I would like to mention just for the sake of mentioning, I much prefer the soft nude sites that update 2 or 3 times a week, over a site like Met-Art that updates 28 times a week! Sounds strange, but something is just more satisfying about a site with limited viewing choices. I find myself lost in a daze trying to navigate the mega sites... Edited on May 05, 2010, 05:53pm

Personal preference, maybe, but I strongly prefer a mega-site like Met-art that gives me a large number of updates over a site that gives a much smaller number of updates. The sites with the smaller number of updates will usually argue that they have better quality updates, but I don't agree. I think that the quality at Met-art is about as good as it gets. If a person doesn't appreciate the content at Met-art, that is understandable. But if you appreciate the content but dislike the site because there is so much that you would enjoy viewing, that does sound a little strange.

Nude Art a phase? Click the link for a few reminders of how long in history there has been nude art. Granted, sites such as MetArt go further and better in displaying the nude in some kind of artistic form. They are more erotic, with gratuitous ass poses and so on. Saturated market? And what, pray tell, is hardcore porn doing out of THAT discussion? Yet new sites pop up all the time, far more for the hardcore stuff than the softcore nudes. And new softcore sites come out every so often, too. Too much choice? Maybe the problem isn't with the site, but it's with someone who can't handle his cognitive overload. Take a deep breath, try to be methodical, and remember, you don't have to look at everything. I wouldn't wish for less just for my own sake. There are others out there who can't get enough. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

I didn't say nude art is just a phase. Far from it.... I was trying to say that there are currently a lot of sites gunning for the same softcore market; with none of them really offering anything different. Sex will always sell. I just depends on how well it is marketed. Cap'n. To expand a little further...... I don't know if it is just me, but I reckon if the site name were blanked out, you would be hard pushed to tell one from another in terms of content. Then again, I suppose that goes for a whole truckload of hardcore sites too. Cap'n. I can recognize the work of MC Nudes, 21st Sextury, DDF, Digital Dream Girls, HegreArt, Torrid Art, LSG, Errotica Archives, Walter Bosque, and ALS Scans (and Angels) pretty easily. They all have "signature" elements of one kind or another both technically and in what they have the models doing. And Ron Harris ... VERY easy to ID with those pinkish tones. So no, I would not be hard pressed at all. In fact, I'm usually right when I see photos from certain sites and nothing is immediately conveyed about their origins, such as when someone posts a link to a pic and asks who the model is here. Or when Twistys or Penthouse posts something done by Digital Dream Girls. BTW, I didn't say that you, Cap'n, said that nude art was a phase. Just find "phase" on the page and it was Wittyguy who said it. Now I'm not sure if he meant it all that seriously or not, but I think that softcore nudes need our support -- and doubtlessly you agree with that -- so I chimed in on the point. And Pink Panther, you'll note, had a very important comment to make about it in response. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

It depends on how hard you are pushing. I remember back in the 1960s I read that Huge Hefner drank Pepsi instead of Coke. They are both colas, I could tell the difference in taste between the 2 brands, and liked Coca Cola better. But I didn't mind drinking Pepsi if I couldn't get Coke. The same idea applies to softcore teen mega-sites. I strongly prefer Met-art photosets over Femjoy photosets. And JustTeenSite would be in third place. Some of the same photographers and models appear at all 3 sites in photosets. Met-art uses more photoshopping than Femjoy. The level of photoshopping at JustTeenSite is close to what Met-art uses. Met-art uses more color and costumes than Femjoy or JustTeenSite. Met-art uses more make-up on the models. Some PU members prefer the Femjoy style over Met-art, saying the Femjoy look is more natural. But I think the same models usually look prettier at Met-art than at Femjoy. It's a matter of personal taste. But some people probably pay little attention to the details, and figure all 3 sites are basically the same. Which they are, in that they are softcore teen mega-sites. Edited on May 16, 2010, 04:05am

You got me well beaten there,D. One skinny nude on a beach looks the same as another to me! I take your point though that certain sites do have 'signatures', but I still feel there is an awful lot of non-iconic, non-descript websites out there, catering to the full gamut of soft, mid & hardcore. Ik2fireone just mentioned sites that I was careful NOT to mention, and what he pointed out are those on the other side of the coin. I would have a tough time distinguishing a MetArt from a FemJoy from a JustTeenSite, with a few exceptions such as stuff done by Tom Veller, Tim Fox, or "Master Shellacker" Majoly. Anyway, sometimes what you get is more black-letters-on-yellow, and sometimes you get the name brands. No matter, really, I'd say, as long as it's hot! I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.
