Accessing Porn......My Increasing Problem

I don't know if there is anyone who can help me out here, but I need to vent anyway.

I live on a small Island between England & Ireland, which is part of the British Isles, but not part of the UK.

I have never had any CC access problem from using UK issued cards until relatively recently. Things have been OK prior to this since the mid 1990s.

Now CCBill & Verotel are rejecting my applications at pre-authorisation, because they say I am not using the CC in the country it was issued.

Correspondence is ongoing with CCBill, but I just needed to vent & ask if anyone had any constructive suggestions to resolve this new & unacceptable situation.

Capn I know exactly what your problem is as we had issues with other users from your country and another neighbor island. Don't want to explain all details how billing and fraud detection work but to them you look like a guy from another country and not UK/GB hence it looks like a fraud attempt. They don't care that your place is a part of UK as they get different country code when check your IP for fraud and reject your subscription.

Now we had the same problem with one member few months ago and here's what happened: most of the sites use one geoip database provider for fraud checking that allow to check for country, city and ISP for given IP. Befor that member was detected as a person from UK and since his card's issuer was a UK bank everything went fine. After release of newer version of that DB his IP wasn't in UK any more but showed up as JE (Jersey) and of course country codes didn't match (UK <>JE) he was rejected. In our case I had to call the bank we use for our merchant account (we use one along with Epoch and CCbill) and they made necessary changes almost instantly and member re-joined the next day.

In your case you need to write to CCBill, let them know about your failed transaction (exact time, email and etc) and explain what has happened and ask them to make necessary changes in their fraud screening. If you need a quick porn fix you can always re-join WeAreHairy.com as we're always happy to any customers from any country, yours included

Sorry, cannot help - but the best of luck!

This would annoy me too, you have done nothing wrong and they should have a better system to know what IPs still are part of the Britain. I hope you have some luck with getting it sorted soon Capn. Under that system there could not be any adult sites on your island as everyone on the mainland would probably have the same problem with it as you are having with sites on the mainland.

There always seems to be oversights like this. I remember when lots of websites wouldn't let you register with an e-mail address ending in .co.uk because it "wasn't a valid e-mail address"! Webmaster of StripGameCentral and A Measure of Curiosity.

Cap'n.

Keep flooding them with emails, Capn or even a phone call or two. You may not be officially part of the U.K. but it will get through to someone eventually that they are making a mistake in assuming you are a fraud. Sorry it's taking so long. That's inexcusable.

I use Epoch where it is an option.

I hope that it doesn't go the same way.

CCBill has a toll-free (no cost) telephone number for international clients outside the U.S. I suggest you call and ask to speak to a supervisor, explain your problem, and that you have sent emails regarding the problem but have gotten no help.

Ask if the supervisor has the authority to accept your credit card, or if he/she will transfer you to a person in authority who can solve the problem.

Thanks LK2.

I may just be reduced to trying that.

I am not the most patient with phone systems though, so it will be a last resort.

I just had another reply from CCBill asking if I have a problem!

Most recent email from them said there was nothing they could do.

Well screw 'em.

If I ever see CCBill I won't use them on principle now!

Even if I could!

Not trying to change your mind about CCBill but thought I'd toss this out there as someone who has a merchant account (not related to porn).

I'm guessing CCBill gets the CC "authorization" from a third party company. They'd be the one who's system would return an "error" if the address given doesn't match what they think it's supposed to be (based on billing address). My point is, if you could find out who does that authorization, that's who would need to fix their system so this doesn't keep happening. Otherwise, it's quite possible that you'll see it with other online merchants.

But again, that's just a guess about the third party doing the address check. Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

That's right, Khan.

They are not giving me any information at all to help.

Their 'fraud prevention' is 'VScrub.'

Did a search on it & came up blank.

In itself that doesn't inspire any confidence!

I don't know if this is the best place to convey the info, but I noticed when attempting to sign up to TeenDreams via TBP that the discount applicable to the CCBill transaction did not appear when trying to sign up via Epoch.

CCBill STILL haven't amended their incorrect GEOIP database btw.

Cap'n.

Generally, the discount will only apply to the main payment processor.

In this case, due to your specific payment problems, Ken said he'd touch base with the site to see if perhaps they could do something to help. Can't make any promises at this point but we don't mind asking.
