Thing I discovered this morning Its not a big deal lol, don't get too excited. But wanted too join a site, one of the bang bros sites that said epoch at the bottom of the site but then on the signup page there was no mention who the billing company was, I like to use either epoch or ccbill so I contacted epoch and asked and they said I can search using their own shop so yeah I didn't know you could do that so its maybe a good way to join a site you know will be with epoch and not some tinpot billing company that may bring you problems. Following some discussions on a site here a couple of weeks ago I learned that there are search facilities at epoch, ccbill and segpay. Nearly all sites can be found on at least one of those. I think sites use tinpot billers as a try-on.

Yes, I have known about that. Just a feeling, but I doubt you would necessarily get the best deals through them though. Also I am still not looking to put any business CCBill's way though until they withdraw regional pricing. Cap'n. Verotel have been reliable for years now and they don't do regional pricing. I wish more sites would use them so more customers had direct experience of them. They offer a range of advantages, not least that they offer payouts to webmasters in a range of currencies. Nice to not have to pay conversion fees from US Dollars. I keep pushing CCBill to offer that feature but they are obviously not even slightly interested. Webmaster of StripGameCentral and A Measure of Curiosity.

I prefer Epoch to CCBill because the latter always manage to tack on some extra dollars. Not exactly regional pricing in my case but always that extra $ 2.50 - 4.00. With Epoch it appears to be a straight conversion from U.S. to CA Dollars.

^Epoch is by far my favorite cc processor for the above reason. I'll second Ed2009's comment about verotel. I've joined a few sites that had them and I've never been disatisfied. Long live the Brown Coats.

Yes, I never have had a problem with Verotel. Cap'n. Admiral of the PU Hindenburg. 2009 PU Award Hilarious Post of the Year 2010 PU Award ( I would have preferred it to be Helpful Post of the Year for Guys who Hate 'Retail Therapy' ) :0/ Sanity is in the eye of the Beholder!

Elephant, this is an excellent tip - looks like in some cases it can be used to avoid regional pricing. Eg FTV Girls is on my list - via the site, it only links to CCBill, where the charge is £23.21; whereas searching on Epoch shows it for £20.06. (It also shows a £4.65 7-day trial, but no mention of whether it is limited or not.) Sadly no such luck with Babes Network who I recently berated for equating £ to $; they show Epoch support, but are not to be found with the search.

I'd like more info about billing processors. I've used CCBill and Verotel before, both without issue, but I'd never heard of Epoch and Segpay and so tended to avoid them. I would never use a site which used its own billing system - some I would love to join but no way. Independent processor or forget it! I prefer Verotel to CCBill - no regional pricing and I find their customer support is actually quicker and more polite. Never had a specific issue with CCBill but Verotel seem better to me. I wonder if PU would consider a section which allowed us to review billing processors? Well, perhaps more of a "comments" section as I wouldn't expect the reviews would need to be as thorough or long as for porno sites, but it would be useful. A simple list of billing companies I know I can trust would be great.

Does the choice to price regionally sit with the porn site or with the billing site? unless life also gives you water and sugar, your lemonade is gonna suck.

While I have never had the occasion to use Verotel I did do business with Segpay and Epoch and both are trusted by me.

Yes, CCBill's customer support could do better with the attitude. That's been my experience. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

I second that, Drooler. The one and only time I sent them an email I got a bit of an arrogant return.

Yeah ccbill can be a little rude, I remember this too from an email got quite a blunt email saying not our problem take it up with the website, manors cost nothing and customer service in any business is so very important to get repeat custom. Yeah I will use this shop to find sites which might use epoch also but without regional billing. Verotel yes are another one that I too have had zero problems with and canceling was easy. Yes, contact a customer service representative so that you can be told that it's not their problem. It kind of reminds me of that old joke in which a first-time visitor to New York City stops someone on the street and asks, "Excuse me, sir. Could you tell me what time it is, or should I just go fuck myself?" I wanted something new, so I left England for New England. Edited on Jul 22, 2012, 08:02am

Maybe....just maybe those "persons" at CCBill consider their porn using customers as some lower kind of people? (Yuk, porn freaks) ........but,oh, they'll gladly take your money. Someone should teach them about respect and decency. "I don't drink anymore - I freeze it, and eat it like a popcicle"

That's really interesting, thanks for that. I actually based my comment below about preferring Verotel on what you said without really thinking about it, but then I realised I'd never had a problem with regional billing with Verotel, only CCBill - hadn't noticed it before! So do Verotel specifically not do regional pricing then? Sounds like they're a better company all-round for the user and the webmaster which can only be a good thing.

I'd always recommend Verotel first but they are considerably less well known than CCBill. I have to make it clear I offer CCbill too or a lot of potential customers won't buy a membership simply because they haven't heard of Verotel (or TicketsClub as they used to brand their billing). I suspect adult sites fight the biggest up-hill-battle of any industry when it comes to customer distrust. Webmaster of StripGameCentral and A Measure of Curiosity.

You do know you can blame some of your competitors for that, right? Most PUs know the sites that consistently play games - billing scams, "overlooked" emails, dead links to help pages... There's nothing better than a buyer beware attitude to keep porn the shady business it seems it's always been. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

I can blame them, certainly, but that doesn't do anything to improve the situation. Sadly unscrupulous sites ruin it for all the others. They directly AND indirectly damage the experience for customers too. For example, if I lose potential customers because of someone else's dodgy-dealing, then I have a lower budget for new shoots. That affects quality in the long run and my customers suffer (although they probably won't be aware that I would like to spend a lot more than I do on producing new content - until they read this!).
