Put your reviews "on hold"..... I may be repeating things here...BUT: I think it's a fine deal that we have accomplished concerning SOME time between reviews. Not only for the reviewer it's a bit annoying to see a completely new and well worked out review that you put a lot in - go second, third ect within half an hour. But also it gives less to other PUs who - I for one - may miss some fine reviews... New PUs should maybe be told this or rather advised... please see my reply to manholelovers latest review... I never thought about that. I guess I visit often enough so that I never miss anything by going through the "last 10" list which I always take look at.

If my memory treats my right we've had a thread or two about this... And I still think it's a fine idea to offer some space, to offer the place on the top of reviews to fellow PUs for some time (a kind of mutual respect for the work done) - and as I see it - a lot here follows that small guideline... My guess is you're thinking of the recent thread started by rearadmiral: Am I just being too courteous? Former PornUsers Senior Administrator Now at: MyPorn.com "To get your ideas across use small words, big ideas, and short sentences."-John Henry Patterson

I'm with Denner on this, as Khan pointed out by linking a thread I started on the subject. What I do is write my reviews in Word and save them. Then I go to PU and note the time that the latest review is up and I'll give it six or eight hours before I check back. This can be frustrating in that I sometimes have to wait a few days to post a review, but that also gives me time for some editing. I suspect that part of the issue is that most people would compose their review within the site and just upload it.

I guess I should put in my own response about this. First, I'm not bothered that manholelover posted when he did after mine today. (It's still "today" for me, anyway.) I do appreciate the concept of giving some "front time" to new reviews, too. I actually wouldn't mind it if it could be worked out, without it being much trouble, if a review could be submitted and then delayed for later posting, say up to 12 hours or so? But really, I'm OK with things either way. As I see it, if someone is interested in a site, they can look it up here or at TBP and they'll see what's been done and go from there. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

I never thought about the idea of holding back on a review to give the most recent review time to be looked at. The thread by rearadmiral, "Am I just being too courteous?", has some nice ideas about allowing time for each new review to hold the number one position. But I think (a guess, no hard evidence) that most people just post their reviews as they write them. Maybe someone could use this as a poll question, to see what the PU members think should be done? But if there was a hold-back, then the PU staff would have to write some software to implement this hold-back interval. Which would make extra work for the PU staff. And that would complicate the current system of having your review posted at PU when you enter it. So if you wanted to edit that review, and it was not yet posted immediately after you submit it, that makes it more complicated to edit. But if a large number of PU members vote that a voluntary hold-back period of X number of hours should be observed, that could be posted in the PU guidelines/rules, as a voluntary idea, for the PU members to observe.

I just submitted a new review and feel half guilty about not having checked as to who submitted one before me and when. It's not selfishness on my part, I assure you, but stems from my habit of looking at the review section, see which ones were posted today and then look at them one by one, this way no one ever gets ignored. It's also hard to space a review when you get a flood of reviews a day, as we've seen during the last few days.

I also usually look through all the most recent interviews anyways, and don't really pay particular attention to the most recent one over any others. I don't really mind if someone posts right after me, I would be perfectly happy if mine went straight to 2nd, I figure the people most likely to get use out of it would be searching for it, not stumbling across it on that day. Also, the longer it is up there, the more I start thinking it is even more horribly written than usual. Sorry if I cock-blocked, er review-blocked someone in the past. Bunny Lebowski: I'll suck your cock for a thousand dollars. Brandt: Ah hahahahaha! Wonderful woman. We're all, we're all very fond of her. Very free-spirited.

I've always written my reviews into the form on the site although sometimes I've considered notepad as I'm afraid I might lose it all due to some timeout or something when it can take an hour to write a review when browsing the site and checking numbers etc. However even if moving to external editor, I'm still a bit unsure what might be a good "grace period" for the previous review? There are often more than five per day so I can see those waiting for a day never being able to post theirs...

I usually write my reviews directly on the site, but sometimes write them in word and then submit them. I think spacing is a good idea, but honestly never thought about it very much. Only once do I ever recall that someone bumped my review quickly. On that occasion I was bumped down to fifth about ten minutes after I posted. Several low quality newbie reviews were posted one after another. I would hope that if someone wanted to see my review, they would look at all of the recent ones. I am not so sure that being in the top position matters all that much anyway. I have found that I get responses if a site interests someone, not necessarily if my review is better written. If I ever bumped someone, I apologize as it was not intentional. Edited on Jun 28, 2011, 01:20am

As Khan mentions it's the thread started by rearadmiral that hit me... Looking back I still think that the input made by rearadmiral has that friendly and polite way that suits 'our' site here. rearadmiral uses the word 'courteous' in this connection - guess that's about something to do with 'gentlemen agreement' (still a little weak in my english there).. AND I still think rearadmiral got a good point......so from here: a BIG thumbs up for that input Give the fellow user some space, room or whatever... BTW: messmer put a lot of work into that fine latest review of his of Pornstars Punishment - AND just FIVE minutes later it's off the top because of a review of a site (Club Alektra Blue) that has that Special Notice by TBP where "We have reserved the right not to do business...ect. A bit out of line/strange in my opinion.... "I don't drink anymore - I freeze it, and eat it like a popcicle" Edited on Jun 28, 2011, 05:46am

I may have bumped someone else's review but I really don't know because I've never checked before. I personaly don't care if my review gets bumped because it's still on the site and I don't think we have ever had such a large number of reviews that it actually got pushed beyond the first page. As much as I like the idea of giving a recent review some space. How would we be able to control that. Unless we want to implement a system where we have to schedule our review then the only solution is for Khan or someone else at PU to hold unto the review and release it at a later time. Another thing is that the held review might just be the one that you were hoping to see done. Long live the Brown Coats.

Whether your're for it or against it..it's easy to control - just watch the time (am/pm) and date of the latest review.....I guess some PUs already do that? And I'll sure do it in the future..... But ok: You MAY run into a rare situation where two fellow PUs put up a review at almost the same time, without seeing the other...so in a case of that, then maybe the idea of Khan stepping in COULD be a possibility?? To be honest, I really don't think people even think about that. I know I never did so new members even less likely. I think there should be some other solution. Maybe get rid of the visible #1 spot altogether? Or implement a timer? Otherwise this is just gonna be a trapdoor for people who don't know the hidden rules and they eventually unknowingly "insult" someone.

Thanks, Denner. And I didn't even notice the fact that I was quickly bumped until you mentioned it! That's why it never occurred to me that I might be impolite if I posted a review right after someone else did. As others mentioned, most people will notice the name of a site that might interest them and look up that review even if it isn't in the number one spot. In any case yours and rearadmiral's posts are good reminders that there is a need to be considerate of other PUs. All in all we are doing better than most forums I have belonged to in the past, but no harm in trying to be even better.

Look, it's fine if you guys want to hold off on submitting new reviews to give fellow users more "time on top" but ... I really don't foresee us implementing any sort of forced time delay in the near future. Nor do I see us dropping the "New Review" spot from the main page. And neither you should, Khan! Leave things just as they are. I think that would be fine with most of us, even with rearadmiral and Denner who, to their credit, think of others first.

I agree. For me it's just a personal thing, but I don't expect everyone to follow it nor do I expect PU staff to implement some rule or protocol. Now if we could just get the staff to allow us another 1000 or so characters in a the reviews...

I've increased the bottom line limits to 5000 character and 60 lines. As long as the quality of our reviews stay as high as they are, I have no problem with added length. If it becomes a formatting issue on the pages, I will consider adding a "...read more" link to show the rest of the lengthy review. Enjoy!

Hi Kevin, I find my biggest problem is not with the bottom line but with the "Cons," it is there that I invariably run out of space, or have to extend my cons into the bottom line. I wonder if others experience the same problem or am I the only nit-picker?
