Bad Santa - Porn Commander Hello all, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and is enjoying their holidays. I have had my busiest work time ever this year, normally I have alot of time off, but not this year. I'm afraid Porn Commander is still a ways off, and Santa has left several lumps of coal and switches in my stocking. I'm afraid it may be well into the New Year before the bouncing baby Porn Commander arrives. I hope everyone has a Happy New Year. And when I finally finish this thing, I think it's going to be good. Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb. - Batman

I realize I should have posted to the "Need Collection Help" thread, and now I am being adequately punished. I've had a little time over the past few days, and spent many hours working on little PC, only to discover that somebody has already squatted on my title. That's right, if you go to "Porncommander.com" you will find a load of crap that is basically an upsell to many other websites. Serves me right, I suppose. That sucks. I am going to have to come up with another name. Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb. - Batman

Sorry to hear that IKnoPorn, but I would recommend that no one visit porncommander.com, since it will only open ip a few more windows as your trying to leave. Take it for me that it is a piece of s..t. How about Porncommodore. AS far as I know it doesn't not exist. Long live the Brown Coats.

Thanks pat362, I like Porncommodore. Kind of like the old C64 machine from the 80's...or like a Star Trek Commodore (even older). Some fun ideas. I'm not going to get too hung up on the name though. I just want to finish getting this thing into a usable state. I've fixed alot of bugs and made it more usable, however I still have a ways to go. I had no idea going into this just how much work this would be. Thanks for the suggestion! Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb. - Batman

Wittyguy you never fail to make me laugh!! Back to the turkey I see, are you planning a New Year's Feast? I missed having turkey this year, although we did have an excellent feast of rare Who-Roast-Beast. "Porncybercommander" LOL yes I started this with my grandiose title. Still, I really think this thing will be useful, I just feel like a "Bad Santa" not getting it done in time to go into people's stockings. It'll get there, but it's going to be a while. I can't call it SEXI because it isn't a search engine. No, it just helps you visualize what you've got. Instead of using Windows Explorer you're using your favorite web browser (Firefox preferred) and clicking through your content like a website. Sorry that's sounds like an ad. One feature I just completed this evening is the ability to automatically expand downloaded zips and then index the photos into web pages. One PITA with porn is getting the ZIP files then having to manually unzip them one by one. Well, "Porn Cyber-Commander with X-RAY vision and ESP" finds your ZIP files and unzips them then processes the images. So no more having to manually unzip them. Helps if you download "en masse" from websites. I like the "contest" suggestion. Although since I'm working on the documentation I'm kind of going with Pcommander for now. It will be another PITA to rename the bloody thing. Thanks for the kind words (sarcasm?) about "billions", no this is just going to be free. I'm just a geek that likes porn and wants to help others enjoy theirs, corny as that sounds. Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb. - Batman

I hadn't thought about the old commodore 64 console. I was thinking along the line of Star Trek. That show has and still affects my view of the world. No matter the name you give it. I'm sure that it will be great. Long live the Brown Coats.

I totally agree with you pat362, such a great show, especially TOS ("no bloody A, B, C, or D"...or E for that matter!) - hope you recognize the quote. If you haven't seen the remastered special effects for TOS, they are well worth it. The people that worked on this truly showed respect to TOS. Thank you for your kind words, I sure hope it turns out as good as you and others are expecting. I just hope patience holds out, but I'm not gonna play the "I should have something but date such and such" card again. Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb. - Batman

Ah yes, I did enjoy that TNG episode. Who would not love seeing Scotty coming back.....or forward for that matter. Scotty was always one of my favorites. There was a tribute to his death a year or so ago, his ashes were put on a rocket along with several others to be buried in space (Google for "space burial scotty"). Scotty was the ultimate engineer, he inspired me to go into engineering. Perhaps I should try "talking" to my mouse as he did in STV:TFF? Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb. - Batman

I did see some of the remastered episodes. My favorite is the Doomsday Machine, because it kept the original stuff but was able to incorporate the new CGI stuff. I'm old enough to remember and more importantly appreciate a time when movies or TV shows had little budget for special effects or they simply didn't exist. Instead they had to rely on something called a story. Once you get past the cheesy special effects of Star Trek you the realise that the writing was pure genius. What other show from then to now has tackled racism, bigatry, equality, drug abuse, war and a wide variety of subject. You often got a morale lesson without realising that you did. One of my favorite scene, and if you are a fan then you will recognize it: Why did you stop me. I could have saved her. Don't you know what you did? He knows doctor. He knows. I think the only series not to have anything to do with the original Star Trek is Voyager. TNG brought McCoy, Spock, and Scotty back. DS9 had the Tribble episode and Enterprise(what a mess) had the alternate Universe episodes. Long live the Brown Coats.

Boy, talk about false memory (mine). I remember "The Trouble With Tribbles" as being part of the original Star Trek. It was one of my favorite episodes, too!!

Your memory is fine on this instance. It's just that DS9 used old footage from the original episode to make their own. The storyline was farfetched, but it was pretty well done, all things considered. Long live the Brown Coats.

How right you are, Pat362. "The Doomsday Machine" is one of my all time favorite episodes, I haven't seen the remastered version, but damn that is a good one. Up there with "The Ultimate Computer" and "Mirror, Mirror". Every episode was a morality play, they certainly did explore many facets of society. Remember "Plato's Stepchildren", with TV's first interracial kiss between Kirk and Uhura? That episode was banned in many countries for this reason. In the early 1990's, a visiting consultant from England was working with my company who was also a ST fan, and complained that he had never seen that episode. I quickly gave him the episode title and told him to rent a VCR and watch it!!! Then DS9 did it again - with TV's first girl/girl kiss - when Dax and one of her former partners (as a symbiant) met again and had a pretty juicy kiss. There might have even been a little tongue there, although if there was it was discreet enough to keep you guessing ;-) And the quote you mention from "City on the Edge of Forever" is a classic. I have the Hallmark ornament commemorating that episode. I actually liked Enterprise too, it had a few real gems, and some total dogs (like Voyager). Overall though, such a great series, that shows with all of our issues and struggles, we will survive. Yes, as you can tell I'm an idealistic sensualist. "You bet your pointed ears, I am!". Wow, it would be fun to watch some ST or SW with you, we always seem to get onto these topics in the forums!!! Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb. - Batman

Hey Cybertoad! Thanks for the suggestions!! I love your new icon, looks like some happy toads there!! Porntrek LOL, I think the name is the last thing I'm going to work on. For now, the first version I release will be Porn Commander. That Movie Thumbnailer you pointed out to me is damn cool. It's one of about 8 different utilities I have integrated together. I know I talked about not giving a date, but I think version 1.0 will be out in January. Thanks again for the tip!! I know you offered your help on a couple of occasions, and I appreciate the offer. I'd like to get the basic version of this thing out first though. When that time comes, one thing that would help is the addition of a GUI. I hate programming GUI's, I don't know if you feel the same, but one thing my program could use is a nice "point and click" interface. However, Porn Commander 1.0 will require the user to edit a configuration file (yuck!!!). Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb. - Batman

The premise for Mirror Mirror was used in both DS9 and Enterpise. I enjoyed both of them but because Enterprise incorporated the old Constitution Class Starship then it gets my first vote. TNG used the lesbian plot in one of it's episode because they also had a symbiote which had to be transplanted from a male diplomat to a female host. Dc Crushar was invloved. It was at the end of the episode so they never explored the relationship like DS9 did. Most Star Trek based shows took about 3 seasons before they got really good. Enterprise was doomed from the beginning. I don't think they should ever have done it You cannot tell a story that we all know and invent an Enterpise that never existed before. It would have been far better if they had explored the beginning of the Federation and the launching of the 12 Constitution Class Starships. If you don't want to have new Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the gang then simply use Captain Pike or something. I'm eagerly awaiting the new Star Trek movie. I miss not having a Start Trek TV show. I have the reruns but new material would be sweet. If we do get a new series from this latest movie then it probably will be the first time that a cancelled show became movies who became more TV shows who became more movies, and so forth. Long live the Brown Coats.

Hi Wittyguy (and the rest of the board), I haven't been around in a while. Work has been insane this year (especially January, not even time for my family for most of that month). The little free computer time I do have (which comes after family free time), I've been spending working on Porn Commander. Not to sound like a broken record, but PC still isn't ready yet. I've fixed alot of bugs, added alot of features (and fixed even more bugs that resulted from adding new features ;-). To be honest, I only had a vague idea about what it would take to turn it into a product. My original version had alot of assumptions about my computer, and I had never expected anyone else to use it. Now it's getting close in terms of being useful to someone not having the source code, but I still have a ways to go. I know I promised this thing month's ago, but I hope to have something reasonable soon. Sorry for the loooooooooooooooong delay, and thanks everyone for your patience. Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb. - Batman

You should never appologize for putting family and work ahead of us. I'm sure we are willing to wait until you have PC just the way you like it. Long live the Brown Coats.
