More trust ratings - chaos

It SEEMS like some of the trust ratings are wrong or not updated.
Looked at some of the NO's - og here things look strange.
For exampel:
The 1 No-trust for exotics4me states:

"A fellow user with great and serious reviews" - To this user the NO looks like a mistake!

The same goes for Rosemans with also a single NO - here the words go:

"Most sites are not in my line - but the reviews I've been through are profound and good guides for the rest of us."

Guess that is not a NO after all

And it gets really crazy for apoctom where the only NO goes:

"One of the serious fellow users I feel I can trust - the latest for ZOD and Third Movie I really agree on"

Pretty "yes", is it not?: "....I feel I can trust..."

If everything was according to the words these fellow users would get a 100... "I don't drink anymore - I freeze it, and eat it like a popcicle" Edited on Jan 08, 2009, 08:27am

Denner, you have me at a loss. I'm not seeing what you're seeing so I can only guess there was some mysterious (and temporary) glitch that caused what you say you saw.

Here's what I see now ...

exotics4me received an Anonymous NO Trust rating on 15-July-07 w/ no Commnet. You'll recall we didn't require a reason back then. You can see a full listing of his trust ratings at: https://www.pornusers.com/profile_activity_trust.html?id=296

Roseman received an Anonymous NO Trust rating on 21-April-07 w/ a Comment saying they didn't share his taste and thought he overrated some sites. You can see a full listing of his trust (including the actual text of the Comment) at:
https://www.pornusers.com/profile_activity_trust.html?id=384

apoctom received an Anonymous NO Trust rating on 14-July-07 w/ a Comment pointing to the fact that he reviewed 23 sites in a short time. You can see a full listing of his trust (including the actual text of the Comment) at: https://www.pornusers.com/profile_activity_trust.html?id=1810

So again, I'm not sure what to say about what *you* saw as I'm not seeing it. If you're still seeing faulty displays, feel free to send me specific URL's (here or via email) and we'll look into it further.

Sorry for any inconvenience. Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

PS ...

Doing a little more digging, I see the remark at exotics4me's trust ratings ... "A fellow user with great and serious reviews" was the one made by you.

It would appear the same holds true for the remarks you posted about Roseman and apoctom ... the remarks you posted were associated with *your* vote (which was Yes Trust vote) rather than with the single no vote each of those users received.

Hope that helps clear up any confusion. Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

Khan, thanks for reply and digging..
Made this thread, because I wondered why some top-score-PUs had 100% trust and some 98% - especially because of the words stated in those no-trusts

Do different users see different things depending on log-in? Remember once before my one no-trust was gone that it was red - and you mentioned that only I saw it as red..?

Well, if this user is responsible for no-trust marks to users that are praised in yes-ways from this user too, I sincerely appologize for the error - if thats the deal, it's embarrassing - and I'll go undercover for a while....
(Though it seems a bit peculiar that I'd make the same error twice or even three times) "I don't drink anymore - I freeze it, and eat it like a popcicle" Edited on Jan 08, 2009, 10:23am

Denner, each user sees a slightly different version only in so much as your ratings show for you whereas other users see their ratings. When you're looking at the entire Trust listings (like the URL's I posted above) I'm pretty sure everyone sees the same formatting with the slight exception you'll see the "edit" option by your ratings.

When you go to the URL's I gave (above), are you seeing the correct remarks with the No Trust ratings?

For the record ... neither of the no trust ratings mentioned here were given by you. If you need help finding users *you've* given a NO vote to, drop me a line. Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

I think I figured out the confusion...

My guess is that Denner looked at the user's profile, like exotics4me as an example:
https://www.pornusers.com/profile.html?id=296

In the Trust Ratings section of the profile, you see:
Submit Vote: YES (49) - NO (1)

I'm guessing you clicked the "NO" link from there thinking that you would be viewing the previous trust ratings from other users.

The link actually is to open the "submit" trust rating window (in this case, change your rating from yes to no) a NO trust rating for that user. In the comments field of the submit form, it shows your previous comments when you made the YES trust rating. You confused that comment for someone else's NO comment since you thought you were viewing, not submitting.

To properly view the trust ratings history, you want to click the link that looks like this:
View All : Trust Ratings (50)

Hopefully that helps. Sorry if it's confusing. The Best Porn - Ultimate Consumer Guide to Porn

Rick is right - that's what I did - clicking on for exampel exotics4me's one NO-trust I got the down-thumb AND the words:
"A fellow user with great and serious reviews"

Well, now I know thats apparently NOT the way to watch the NO-trusts "I don't drink anymore - I freeze it, and eat it like a popcicle"

Mbaya has a trust rating of 29 right now. I already voted for him, so lets somebody throw him a bone for that deserving 30 and a badge!

This might not be the best forum to post this in, but I was just looking for the first one with trust votes as the topic. "For example, badandy400 has taken it upon himself to become the one man Library of Congress for porn with a collection that surely will be in Guinness Book of World Records some day." ~Toadsith~

I'm resurrecting this thread for a good reason I believe. Ace of aces, Messmer, pat362, jd1961, Monahan, Pink Panther, exotics4me - what do these members all have in common? They have a negative given without reason, left by an anonymous member. Not only that, if you look at the negative left for ace he asks them 4 times why they left him a negative and for which review. They never even bothered to answer. The same goes for most of the others. No reason given. Some of the negatives don't even make sense. Come on TBP, do something about this. I know Toadsith is going to say it doesn't make any difference, but if the site wants to keep up an intelligent, consistent, and reputable front it needs to remove some of those negatives. Nowadays there has to be at least a reason for a negative. I hate the anonymous thing, but if you're going to have to give a reason, I think some of the old negatives given without a reason should be removed.

All of the names I have mentioned have, without doubt, a clean reputation, and clearly care about the subject for which they are reviewing and posting.

Hmm - I have this strange feeling I'm about to receive my first negative. Maybe this is another point. A lot of the members here who do care, are more likely to stick their neck out and say something that someone doesn't like. This makes them highly susceptible to the anonymous negative rating. I do not think they will be getting rid of them anytime soon. The trust votes are user to user thing that the staff seems to try to keep a little distance from and for good reason.

Now I do not think you will be getting any negatives for this. I believe you are right about those guys and they do not deserve that rating.

The trouble it that the person(s) who left those negatives likely is either no longer a user here or simply does not remember that they did it. I frequently forget if I have voted for someone or not. Of course since it is recorded as anonymous the staff will be the only people able to even see who it was and ask them. I doubt anyone that uses this forum has voted against them, and I also doubt that those who did vote against them will ever read this plea.

You are right, you will get many people saying that it does not really matter. But in reality it does. It is a pride thing and for those who have spend that much time here contributing. After all those guys have submitted likely around 20% of all the reviews to date. I have had negative votes before, but at least the voted actually said who he was and I was able to talk with them after a while and reason with them. These guys do not have that opportunity which is unfortunate.

I honestly had thought about mentioning this exact thing before, but I did not for the reasons listed above. I do not believe these people visit anymore or even know/care. "For example, badandy400 has taken it upon himself to become the one man Library of Congress for porn with a collection that surely will be in Guinness Book of World Records some day." ~Toadsith~

Enough time has passed since we added the "reason required" policy for NO ratings (Nov 2007). Let me do some research and I'll figure out how difficult it would be for us to remove such ratings. I think the reason is justified. They weren't removed at the time we passed the new rule since it would remove a significant % of overall trust ratings.

Will report back and maybe have Khan create a new thread about this if action is taken. Thanks Squirrel. The Best Porn - Ultimate Consumer Guide to Porn

Thanks - I realise I'm a pain in the arse. I'm either fighting my own battles or someone else's. But like Andy says, these guys all take pride in what they do, and that makes them some of the most trusworthy people here. Their contributions help to make the place what it is. It was the "no" for ace that really pissed me off, and inspired my above post. Ace asked again and again why the guy left a "no." All to no avail. I think Andy is right in that most of those guys who left an anonymous "no" have left the site. It would be nice to see those undeserved and unreasonable negatives go with them.

No problem, I will have an answer (and possible solution) one way or another by Friday. I want to make sure we look at it from all angles before making a final decision.

I've got to be honest and say that I was annoyed with the negative trust rating at first. Mostly because it was without comments. It doesn't bother me anymore. I respect someone not wanting their identity known. At least say why you're giving me a negative trust rating. Long live the Brown Coats.

Let me say this: I respect pat362 a lot more than someone who gives a negative trust-rating anonymous.
Why does anybody here at PU chose not to stand by their trust-giving - bad og good - cannot understand it.
If you do not trust a PU for his/hers review or whatever - say it. Like one of the latest - and better put - no-trusts:

See exotics4me's reply and trust-rating concerning the reviews from Kiev4b and 1Byday. That's a way to do it - wellfounded and NOT anonymous.... "I don't drink anymore - I freeze it, and eat it like a popcicle"
