Still alive!

Don't think you've been forgotten, my esteemed forum buddies. Things have not been exactly ideal for us (mostly for my wife!) Between doctor's appointments, tests like MRIs, bone scans, ultrasounds, blood work ... aargh .. there hasn't been a week that we haven't been going from one place to the other, without any positive results so far.

I'm not going to bother your eyes with a count of all the things that are wrong at the moment, just saying that it leaves little time to even think about porn. I have looked in occasionally but was even to tired (disheartened) to start a thread or to respond. Just let me say that you've been sorely missing from my daily routine because this has been my home away from home, as far as forums go, for years.

So, Cap'n, did you find our site yet? Has the pendulum swung back? I have a mitt-full of money just waiting to be spent on soft-/midcore sites where women go from fully clothed, to erotic lingerie, to fully nude!! So, all right, you didn't need me to spell it out again .. just trying to refresh memories!

As an aside, learned while reading Kindle erotic romances in waiting rooms:

1) Women like tall and dark Alphas, (6-6'2")
2) Women like abs and pecs and six packs,(no not beer),
3) Women go by scent much more than men do,
4) Women love erotic, silky lingerie, (hooray!)
5) Women adore cunnilingus ...

so if you're lacking in any of those departments, get on with it. Too late for me, though!

Greetings to all,

m.

I am really glad to hear from you messmer. I really miss the old gang that populated the forum. I enjoy many of the new blood that joined us over the years but the first ones still hold a special place in my heart. I wish you had better news for the us but I would rather hear bad news from you than no news at all. I really hope that 2015 is a significantly better year for your wife and you.

Here is what I have learned (or confirmed) from reading the Fifty Shades of Grey novels and almost finishing with The Crossfire ones as well.

Women want a man that will treat them badly but be troubled by it because deep down he really loves them. It's just that he was sexually abused as a child by someone they trusted who took advantage of their innocence. Of course he must be not only rich but billionaire rich, so beautiful that all men look like toads compared to him, a complete sex machine that can get an erection on command and fuck all night long and still be able to start all over again in the morning (of course without the use of chemicals), He must closed off and distant but yet be opened to discuss any subject the woman wants to talk about, He has to be cold and remote and also be super romantic and loving, He has to be hung, He must know her body better than she knows it, he must want to satisfy her sexually and know exactly how to go about it, he must know about fashion and be willing to share his expert knowledge with her and lastly he must be under the age of thirty.

Mind you if you are going to fantasize than why not shoot for the moon. Men should be as lucky as women when it comes to our fantasy. They get a rich, good looking man with an amazing dick who knows how to sexually satisfy them, loves to talk afterwards on various subjects but fashion is a must who also wants to give them the world and can afford to do it and most importantly was no one until they found and rescued him from his troubled past.

All we get is a barely out of her teen girl getting fucked by multiple guys in every orifice in her body all the while pretending that she really likes it but looking the opposite. I'll take the women's fantasy over ours any day. Long live the Brown Coats.

LOL. You summed things up nicely, Pat. I started with Fifty Shades Of Grey and found your description of this category of romance right on the mark.

In the meantime I've discovered other categories where the Alpha Male is less arrogant and troubled and I prefer those.

There's the Billionaire category where the heroes are considerably gentler than in 50SOG, there is the Fireman category, the Sheikh category, the Texan Cowboy category, the Sports hero category, the Rock Star category, the SEAL category (especially popular during the Iraq war.

And then, as a sub-category you get the family series which can go to up to twelve books as one sibling after the other gets a book in which he falls in love and lives happily ever after and if you run out of siblings you discover a side branch that has more of them. (The Andersons, The Westmorelands etc.)

All of the new romances have two things in common, they are as steamy as they can get without crossing the line into pornography, and all the heroes are originally "unwilling to commit!"

Oh, yes, I forgot to mention this in my original post: and every hero has a super-sized "package!" So much for the oft proclaimed lie (by women) that size doesn't matter!

Well, what can I say re. my love of new romances. Most are light-hearted (with the exception of the BDSM category), have some light drama in them to keep them interesting, and give me a happy ending.

I do need some sunshine in my life these days, until my perfect site finally comes on line! Not only that, but my testosterone level is at an all-time low and I'll need a Manzeer (see Seinfeld) soon, so why not develop a liking for women's softcore material!

And I agree, I too miss the old gang, so I am glad to see some newcomers and some folks like you who stuck with it.

Thanks, Ed. I always enjoyed your contributions and hope that you'll continue to move in these civil and courteous circles. I'll most likely be in and out for a while longer until we see if my wife's treatments, which will start at the end of March, will do any good.

I've always been a huge fan of romance novels. I have no problem confessing that I really enjoy them and as a bonus it gives me some great insight on how women's brain work. I started reading the Harlequin series and then migrated to mostly Joanna Lindsey. The theme of the Harlequin books was often a cold distant alpha male who needed the love and understanding of a beautiful woman to thaw his cold heart. Joanna offered more variety and stronger female roles to her heroine and the sex was significantly more descriptive.

Needless to say that 50 Shades and it's ilk is pure female porn where some of the sex is quite descriptive but not so much that a woman can't put herself in the place of the female protagonist. I can't help but feel that some of the authors are trying distinguish themselves from the pack by being way too descriptive and crude. If you read the Crossfire series of books than be prepared to read the word C.nt (I'm not even comfortable writing it all the way) used quite often by the alpha male to describe the sexual organ of the woman he claims to love. Call me old fashion, call me a prude but I can think of many more stimulating words to use to describe a vagina other than what I consider to be an insulting word in any conversation.

At least the alpha male in both 50 Shades and Crossfire aren't opposed to marriage because both of them get married within just a few months of meeting their true love. In fact I think both are the ones pressuring the woman to marry them.

Try to not be a stranger even if it's just to say hello. Long live the Brown Coats. Edited on Mar 12, 2015, 06:49pm

Yes, regarding the first Harlequins I read, the "Hero" tended to be distant, arrogant, even cruel and abusive at times but turned out, toward the end of the book, to be a nice guy who had erected "walls" to protect himself from being hurt. I could never understand the heroine taking the verbal and emotional abuse for so long. But I got away from the handful of authors who wrote that way and now dwell with gentler folks.

As to the Crossfire series. I had my finger on the buy button until I decided to read the reviews. Apparently this was originally supposed to be a trilogy and people were very upset that Sylvia Day decided to stretch the series in order to cash in on its success. Many of us don't like to end up with cliff hangers, so I'll wait until she is finally done before I hit that "send book" on Amazon.ca button.

And I applaud your bravery for revealing that you like romances! It took me 77 years to be tempted into trying one because a MAN just didn't read romances. What chauvinist hogwash .. some of those books are darned good.

BTW, I agree with you when it comes crudeness. I can well do without it. Well, I think I've just about used up my time here. If you should reply, I'll be happy to respond sometime next week or maybe even Sunday night.

^I've been reading romance novels since my early 20's. I used to love the harlequin novels because they were small and easy to read. At the time I was the night manager of a Hilton and there were many long hours where there wasn't a lot to do so a nice romance novel was perfect to pass the time and it didn't bother me if I had to put it down for an hour and start where I left off. The only negative thing is that since they were tiny than I needed to buy new ones fairly regularly as I can read rather quickly.

I can't really recommend Crossfire because I didn't enjoy it as much as I did 50 shades. The female character in crossfire is better defined but I didn't like her as much as Anastasia. It also doesn't help a whole lot that both protagonist were sexually abused as young children, That keeps coming up as to why they are the way they are. Add the fact that Sylvia decided to do 5 novels instead of only 3 and the only way she got around doing that is by generating useless drama that gets repeated in multiple novels do stretch the story beyond the already hard to believe premise. Long live the Brown Coats.

Welcome back Sir! Are you still living in Halifax? If so, the winter there must have added to your problems. We had it bad in southern NB but you had that rain and flash freeze which I've heard has made some streets unusable. But spring has to come soon!

^Yup I'd have to say that even if our winter wasn't very nice in Quebec. It's pales when compared to Eastern Canada.

Thanks for the welcome back, rearadmiral. We didn't get the snow New Brunswick did. Living near the coast ensures that our snow storms usually turn to freezing rain or rain. But that flash freeze was something else. Many side walks are unusable to this moment and our snowbanks turned into ice banks that are impossible to remove. I think we'll be stuck with them until May! Another big snow storm forecast for tonight and tomorrow! Aaargh!

Hey, Messmer! Good to hear from you! Sounds like you've been dealing with major problems. Hope things work out eventually!

Oh, and there's one thing about your list. Most of the women I've been with do like cunnilingus, but don't be surprised if you run into one that doesn't. I used to know one. I'm just saying, if you ever do, say "Hello" for me. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

We're on the coast too (in SJ) and would normally have a winter more like you get but this year we had all snow after January 24. Prior to that we were shaping up for the best winter ever. The, after January 24 we had a major storm every three days. We have some drifts here that are 10 feet tall. I'm pushing 49 years and have never seen anything like this. And the forecast isn't really showing spring coming any time soon.

And we're getting the storm today too. It's a bit demoralizing but some folks around here say that winter isn't over until we have our St. Patrick's Day storm. I'm hoping this is it.

Hey, Drooler,

good to hear from you, too. As to your remarks re. cunnilingus I am sure there are exceptions to the rule. I just know that with the multitude of women authors I read during the past year, every single one made cunnilingus an essential part of foreplay, good for the first orgasm or two!

For some reason most major storms this season have gone up the Bay of Fundy, leaving you with snow and us with snow changing to rain. At least along the coast. If it hadn't been for that major flash freeze a few weeks ago there wouldn't be much snow on the ground. Strange, what a difference a couple of kilometers can make.

I looked out the window around 4:30 am and we were in the middle of a major blizzard but things have eased up already. The winds are still quite strong but it is hardly snowing now. Given our mutual weird weather this year I think spring is still quite far off.

I live in California, in Los Angeles county.

Two weeks ago, I saw some hail on the ground, that lasted for a few seconds (it was raining, which is very unusual for Los Angeles).

Haven't had any snow on the ground in years.

I just did a google search.

The last time it snowed in my part of LA county was February 26, 2011.
Snow accumulations around 3 inches were present.

Snow on the ground may only occur about every five to ten years.

But we do get earthquakes.

Normally I like our climate with its distinct four seasons but this year all of us are so tired of a brutally cold (in the East of Canada) and snowy winter that I wouldn't mind one bit moving to Southern California!!

^ So good to see a post from you, Cap'n! I was wondering if you had dropped out and am so happy to see that you are still around this forum.

Too bad about our niche! Even though my libido has decreased greatly I still appreciate the beauty of a natural woman and would subscribe to "our" site in a minute.

Sad news, for me! Since I am getting older by the day and don't want my heirs to find tons of porn after I absent myself I just got finished deleting 3.5 TB of material on three external drives.

I formatted the drives and gave them to my grandsons as a premature gift. It hurt, but you can't take your porn with you, or so I've heard. And don't let me depress you with my blather, I'm not .. just being realistic and thinking ahead.

I certainly don't spend my days worrying about what might come and take it one day at a time instead.

It really makes my night, hearing from you, old friend!

My admiration bears no limit to the praise deserving of you for the absolute caring you're continuing to implement to helping your wife's needs.
Her condition is reminisce of my own, in my case (without a caregiver) accompanies a mercilessly continued breakdown of bodily function and pain that has me now progressively within sight of a nursing home.

Hello, old friend. So good to see your post. It has been one of those weeks where I had next to no time to look into the forum, so forgive me for the delayed response.

No need for admiration re. caring for my wife. Caring comes naturally after 50+ years of her spoiling me rotten .. that sort of thing promotes a love where nothing is too much when it comes to looking after her welfare. Despite all her physical problems she still, to this day, does an awful lot for me as well. Yep, with me too, the inevitable, gradual breakdown is taking place. So, we look after one another, and are glad that we still have each other for another day.

I am so sorry that you have reached the stage where you have to look at the possibility of going into a nursing home. Not my favorite choice, that's for sure. Wish there were some magic wand I could wave to make you feel better, in lieu of wizardry, though, have my assurance that you are in my thoughts and not forgotten by your forum pal.

Summing up the merits highlighting this thread's welcoming touch of briefly having you back, messmer, not surprisingly an awaking delight I trust shared by us all, I then hope a piece of your past contributions to PU, that I feel was so meaningful and valuable to this site's purpose, might find a sonorous recall in our thoughts.
Cause' I gotta say, in light of this observer, yours was one of the most informative, eye-opening, articulate, Elegant and poignant style of the written word as any I've seen. ......need say it is sorely missed.

Oh yes ......

Thanks, my friend, for your concern concerning my health and wellbeing..
(But, appealing for no explanation or sympathy at the moment), let me say elements entwined in misfortune afoul with family, apart from my health, is just another demon taking up residence in my life at the moment.

Time catches us all. It brings with it a lot of ailments. It spares no one. In my forties, my eyes started to become farsighted and my legs began to have severe cramps. Now in my sixties I have to take a vitamin B-12 supplement and my ears have a ringing in them. What waits beyond is anyone's guess.

Time brings other things if we have an open mind. Wisdom, patience and tolerance. I wish I had more of these in my youth. It would have made life much easier for me and those around me who had deal with my lack of them. Sadly, patience seems to be diminishing again as I find myself yelling at my computer for being so slow. As if I don't have all the time in the world to do the foolish things I use it for.

Since I have started participating At PU I notice that the good things that time has to offer are present in the members here. That is made abundantly clear by the posts I enjoy reading as I scan the topics brought up here. As always, thank you Khan and those who work with you for providing a place to express myself freely without being judged. Here's hoping everyone's capacity is never diminished to prevent you all from being a participant to PU and to those who created it. Warning Will Robinson

I have another amazing series that I discovered while looking for something new to read. It is by Jessica Clare and it's the Billionaire series. These are more straight forward romance novels than 50 shades and crossfire but there is some amazing writing involved with well defined characters and engaging plot points. Long live the Brown Coats.

Thank you for those kind words. We do our small part but it is you, the regular users of PU, who make this place the civil place that it is. Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

Thanks for the tip, Pat. I must look up Jessica Clare. I have 2 or 3 "billionaire series" on my iPad already and have enjoyed most of the books. I'll be happy to add another one to the collection.

P.S. Just did a quick search on my Kindle app and it appears that I have the first two books of Jessica Clare's Billionaire series already .. add a horrible memory to my list of complaints. I will definitely get the rest of that series since the first two books were great.

Hi Biker, I agree with you wholeheartedly about the civility in this group. Who would have ever thought that one could express one's feelings, and its symptoms about old age in a porn lovers group. In my first post, revealing my true age, I expected some unkind or sneering replies but should have known better because everyone who participated in the forum at that time was very kind and supportive.

BTW, I disagree with you about the wisdom, patience and tolerance old age is supposed to bring with it. I'm still impatient, I am far from wise because I forget the lessons that my past should have taught me. Tolerance, mmmh, maybe! But then I've always believed in "live and let live!"

Thanks for the kind words, bb5!

You are right about the wealthy, but they are only a large niche within the niche of romance novels. I have read quite a few of the Billionaire stories, but there are other categories as well .. containing everyday male protagonists, from SEALS and Marines (quite popular) to firemen, policemen, artists and artisans etc. etc. who don't make it into the rich category.

Re. your quotation re. Bruce Wayne. There is one thing I forgot in my list, (thanks for reminding me) and that is the above average... ahem ... "package" of the hero.

This should have been number two or even number one in my rather arbitrary listing, because I have yet to come across a modern (containing graphic sex scenes)romance novel where the average male is average in that department.

I guess that's why the women authors keep stressing size .. there might be something slightly lacking when it comes to their own, personal heroes so they like to fantasize about it in fiction.
