Cell phone porn just would not do it for me. Now of course if one could store a bit of porn on their phone and plug it into a TV in a hotel room it would be a different story. The size of the screen is a turn off for me. I do not think cell phone porn will catch on as well. There will be some market for it, but I do not believe people will turn to it for their erotic needs. It is simply too impractical. I certain hope our work here on PU and the work of TBP will be undermined. I do not think it will be either. Even if the the device we view it on changes, the content and site likely will not change that much. You are correct WittyGuy, I do not see many of us jumping up to hoard all the iPorn we can get. Besides, I have 40 HDDs the way it is, imagine how many damned cell phones I would have to carry around to store all that! :) "For example, badandy400 has taken it upon himself to become the one man Library of Congress for porn with a collection that surely will be in Guinness Book of World Records some day." ~Toadsith~ PU Interview

How is it people love big monitors, big screens, but still love so-tiny-it-hurts-to-watch cell phones? I still say "cell phones" not just "cells" because I still think their primary purpose should be voice communication (gasp!) not a bunch of crappy apps. (Notice how crappy "app" really is.) I still cannot get over Apple's 2006 release of the video iPod, not because the technology escapes me, but the purpose; who really enjoys watching anything at length on a screen that small? A cell phone of practical size cannot be much bigger, at least not without becoming some sort of fold-out device like a big road map. A screen is practical as a touch device, but as a viewing device for video or web surfing it is just ridiculous. Maybe in the future we will all just put in some sort of contact lens screen in one eye, buds in our ears, and the charging cable up our asses because it's the newest, coolest way to "talk." Well here in Holland, you're bombarded with tv-ads (after midnight) for phone sex (talking, sms-ing, downloading movies/pics,etc). Naked women on all tv-channels it's just crazy. I don't know about any age-verification for that, but I don't think that young people have any trouble downloading it. Edited on Feb 13, 2009, 02:30am

I agree. I'm just not interested in something that small (now where have I heard that before?) The same goes for chat lines - I have just never seen the point. Just talking about it with someone who doesn't give a shit and is 60 years old isn't the slightest bit stimulating. That's what wives are for isn't it? The strange thing is these things seem to be big business. Guess that's why I'm not a big ideas sort of guy. If someone had even suggested to me, the possibility of investing in an adult chat line or porn on a cell phone, I'd have told them go ahead and lose all their money on a really stupid idea.

Yes, porn on a cell phone makes about much sense as coming home from a hard day's work and collapsing face-first on the Ottoman foot stool. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

where did this study get it's 2 billion dollar amount for cell phone porn? I'm still amazed at all the money porn is supposedly making all over the world. I want to see some hard data to go alongs with all these studies. The amount of people that watch porn on a tiny cell phone screen is probably so minute that if they all got together. They would barely fill a bus. I can understand using the cell phone with internet access to download something that you can then hook up to a larger screen, but the cost of uplaods/downloads by cell providers is so great that you price yourself out of most peoples reach. Long live the Brown Coats.

What the cell phone makers really need to do -- and get ready, it's the next "Great Idea" -- is fit the devices with little projectors so the vids can be shown on surfaces: walls, tables, the sides of tall glasses of dark lager, and the like. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

That's what I was thinking, and it seems the only practical way to watch videos from a cell phone, though you would probably have to plug in the charger since a running projector is not exactly a low power device. As far as sound goes, I would think headphones or small portable speakers are the only option. I am sure the idea of the first car/horseless carriage, televisions, PCs, etc. all sounded kind of crazy and pointless, but adapting them to everyday life was what made them so common. Personally, I think the idea of the all-in-one cell phone/organizer/ray gun is still kind of dumb; there can be some serious problems with relying on a single device do nearly everything. TVs and any monitor bigger than a sheet of paper is still better for viewing, any decent point and shoot camera is still way ahead of a phone camera, and I still prefer to read books printed on paper, or, as a last resort, on a decently sized and lit screen. I think cell phone porn may eventually fill an in-between, personal convenience gap that laptops and portable DVD players cannot. It can be for a plane or train ride, or just when you feel liking passing a few minutes of boredom, but not primary viewing in private. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? Couldn't have phrased that better! I tried surfing the web on my cell once, just isn't handy.

Hum....we pay thousands of dollars for big screen TVs and breast implants because we like things larger than life just to try to watch porn on the smallest screen we can find? Seems to be a little irony there. I am surprised at what people will, and will not, pay for today. For example: bottled water. I am really lost as to the whole modern water-and-hydration trend today. If I am genuinely thirsty, I drink water, but only that cheap tap shit that people seem to be so afraid of. I just don't haul it around as if my life depended on it, and I have yet to die of thirst. But when it comes to not paying for stuff the list is quite large: newspapers, music, movies, and, yes, even good ol' porn. If there is one thing I have learned from this site, it is that quality porn, as with everything else in life, is most definitely not free. I sure wish it was, but knowing where I will get the most bang for my buck at least makes me feel a little better when I do spend my money. I realize there are people working behind everything we enjoy, and just taking it all for nothing fucks them over pretty thoroughly. Okay, back to the whole sex-on-a-cell idea; why pay for so little? I don't want to see "Lawrence of Arabia" on cell, or even the most nasty cookie-cutter gonzo filth -- it's just not an ideal format. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? Do not get me going about bottled water. Soon they will be looking for ways to charge us for air. People who pay for that water have a few screws loose. The only way i ever have bottled water is if someone gives it to me, then I refill the bottle 40 times at a tap somewhere. Even if I want water and I am going someplace that has terrible water I will simply take some from home. Same with porn. Just take some from home. If you are out of town just put it on your laptop or keep a magazine in your bag. This is exactly why the UMDs for the PlayStation Portable did not take off. It was a neat idea, granted the screen is much larger than a cell phone, but no one wants to pay from the same movie twice. Even if I wanted to put a little porn on my phone I would rather download it full size and shrink it down to fit. I think there might be a way to watch movies on a PSP using a big MemoryStick, but I could be wrong. I remember you can view certain image files as well as .mp3s. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? That would be better than a cell phone at least. But the point is why pay for lesser quality just to pay for a high quality version of the same thing so you can actually see it. Samsung has a new device called the MBP200 Pico Projector. It's not a cell phone, but more of a portable media player, like a video iPod, that can also project an image up to 50 inches (I'm not sure how it's measured, but that's bigger than most desktop monitors). It is still a prototype, and seems to be designed more for business and education types, rather than traveling perverts, but it is a cool concept. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I may not have all the facts right but I believe there were attempts to censor the internet for the same reasons when the net became wildly available back in the 90s: kids would be able to access all kinds of content with no control. That's when the first content rating systems were devised, which effectively showed governments there was a technical way websites could identify themselves and responsible parents could set up content filter software to monitor their kids' internet use. That's probably the reason why the only hurdle we adults have to pass nowadays to access a website is entering our card details. Because of this, if there's ever an attempt to complicate matters in the cell phone access, the most likely solution will be a content rating system like the already existing ones. On the other hand, here in Spain (I'm not sure but it could be a pan-European regulation), telephone companies will no longer be able to sell phones without proper user identification. In the next few months, every existing cell phone number that doesn't have an ID card linked to it will be taken down. They say it's to fight terrorism and organized crime.

Hasn't the government been saying things are "to fight terrorism and organized crime" (or usually crime in general) for nearly everything the last few years? Here in the U.S., they have already linked buying and using drugs, particularly marijuana, to supporting terrorism. Oh, and the monitoring of e-mail and cell phones is to find potential terrorists, or just spy on citizens, whichever works. Anyone remember the V-chip and when all the program ratings started? Personally I like the ratings because they tell you which shows have the good content. ; ) Plus, all the hysteria over the Internet and how it was going to corrupt America's youth is still going on after all these years, and it will probably continue until the end of time, but people are still buying and downloading tons of porn (and badandy400 is probably somewhere near the top here). Regardless of what happens, I think the flow of "information" will still continue, maybe just not as directly, or even nearly as smoothly, as before. We are not turned corrupt by our culture, we are humans, so we are born corrupt, and we will always keep our porn industry alive and well. And eventually, when this youth market grows up, gets married, and shares a phone account with a loved one, they are going to get their own laptops and desktops and demand the higher quality stuff we already love...without telling that loved one.
