Post your desktop Now that's timing. A couple days ago, I was thinking about starting this thread. Today, I saw Colm4 started a poll about desktops. So it turns out I'm not the only one curious about peoples' desktops. Will be interesting to see these. Wow, you guys sure are the tidy types! I wouldn't dare post mine as it is a bit too personal for public consumption. And it's cluttered with apps, folders, and various ignore-me-now-forget-me-not items. There's no picture of a Japanese ai-do-ru or any "Koi Ai" kinda stuff. Need the space for my files and folders with names like "Credit Report CRAP," "EENteresTINK," and "Marina C Ohhh." I wanted something new, so I left England for New England. | |

Damn. After seeing the first two guys, I think others like me would be ashamed. Mine is cluttered with folders and text docs with a black background. In a related story, I remember on some message board about cars or bodybuilding or video games or something a kid posted his desktop and you could clearly see a folder labeled "Shemale Movies." Anyway, they clowned the guy forever and the thread went on for pages and pages. It must have been so embarrassing. It wouldn't have been so bad for me personally, but he probably had to quit. Just be careful is what I'm saying. I don't know how it ended, I hope he didn't kill himself. | |

That's great to know, I have been learning Japanese for just a few months now. I am great in romaji but my hiragana and katakana is poor, let alone any kanji. You are correct in "Ai", meaning love. "Koi" can mean carp but it also means love as well, a kind of different love though. More like an infatuation with someone or the ever classic saying, "Puppy Love" :) Just interested, but are you Japanese by chance? If not, what made you want to learn Japanese? I am actually trying to learn it to some day visit and maybe even attempt to move there eventually if my situation in the States does not get better. Ah, yes, the dreaded Shemale movies folder. Good thing I photoshopped over the folder before posting so no one will know! Funny thing is that kid could just clearly stop visiting the board, I mean who cares what others think over the internet? But on a harsher note, this is something I'd clearly want most of my better friends out there in the real world to not know about. Oh, OK. "Koi" as in "koibito" (lover, or literally "love person.") I'm really rusted out. Never was a very good speaker, or listener, for that matter, with things that went beyond the safe space of textbook Japanese. Sometimes I can get what they're talking about on a TV show (stuff that shows up on cable) or in a conversation (hanging around in a restaurant), but there are so many idiomatic forms that it's just as bad for me as listening to French. I learned to read and write the kana syllabaries fluently, and learned some kanji as well, but with that I was never better than a novice. And that was all many years ago. I'm not Japanese, FYI. You probably might have guessed, but then again, Cheech Marin wasn't a speaker of Spanish, either, at least if "Born in East LA" is truely autobiographical. You bastards are way too artsy. What, no sodomized bondage babe sporting a "gaper" with a baseball bat sticking out of it to great you in the morning? No need to tell your boss to shove it, just point to your screen ... besides no one likes to acutally talk to management before they've had a few cups o' joe in the morning ;) Even though almost no one sees my computer I keep all my porn files hidden (those little function keys on the keyboard do serve as a convenient short cut for that). In all honesty I pretty rarely have desktop images up at home as they eat resources and nobody else sees them on my home rig. At work I always had them. Anyway, when I got the new monitor a few months ago I went through a bit of a desktop image phase, here is my current desktop with an image I used for a good while. I had the same problem with Toadsith's except mine came with a talking ad that scared the crap out of me! I about dropped my Snicker bar in my Mountain Dew. Wait a minute. A new invention? I have a PC at home, traveling laptop and one at work, but have never really done much with the desktop backgrounds. I use a Vista one at work, I think it is Bangladesh. The traveling laptop has an artsy picture of my wife on it. If you only knew how many times I've used this, "But honey, I have your picture on my computer background". The home PC has a picture of the guys I grew up with me back in the earlier part of the decade. One of those, "Don't forget where you came from" pictures. It is online, two of the guys are rappers or were rappers, Big Duke and Sick Jacken of the Psycho Realm rap group/Cypress Hill family. Those are some good choices, exotics - especially having the wife's pic in the mix. :grin: As far as the talking popups are concerned, if you're using Firefox and don't know about it, there's an extension called NoScript that stops most of those things. Well I downloaded a small freeware program that just had me highlight the area of interest and it instantly saved a small image. This way was much easier than I imagined paint would be. I look on google images for a small icon like that but they seemed to all be actual icons and non showing the New Folder text that I needed in order to pick on Exotics. Bottom line, sometimes downloading a little program is easier than thinking of a way to do it myself. Much less headache. Plus, print screen has never worked for me. I have tried to use it a few times and it never did anything, on any computer. I never cared much so I never messed with it either. I was able to see the image the way you had it before, but I did get a pop up. The image stayed on the original page, not the pop up. But I will admit I did not think I was going to see it and was thinking I was about to have a 500 lb spam bomb dropped on my house.
