Not Porn related at all, and probably contains material offensive to most normal people

I like music. Not commercial crap, but people who have real talent. How people like John Hiatt, John Prine and Fred Eaglesmith struggle while Miley Cyrus becomes a superstar is always a question for me. One group I watch is a wee bit of a novelty act from the American Northwest. Theyre called Young at Heart and theyre a group of senior citizens who have a band who play covers of the most odd songs. From jazz to rap, they cover it and add a twist that makes it their own.

One song, Fix You, is originally by Coldplay. Yes, Im not part of that bands demographic, but the song is shit. Until Fred Knittle and Young at Heart cover it. I understand the songs original meaning, but when sung by Fred and Young at Heart the meaning become completely different. Even an old soldier like me can fight tears.

So my point is this I wanted to see this song again and had two choices. 1) walk over to my bookshelf where I have a bunch of DVDs, including the Young at Heart DVD with Fred singing this song, or 2) google it and just watch it, The laws of inertia argued for the latter. I found a link pretty quick, the Young at Heart website (where they announce Freds death a couple of years ago). There is a link to the song that made Fred, and arguably the Young at Heart, famous but it is a dead link. FOX claims ownership and wont even let Young at Heart link it on their website in tribute to the man who sang it.

I am a reasonable man. I am an educated man. I understand copyright.

In the spirit of the above, I offer the following prayer*

Dear Lord, having taken a talented man from us, please protect his memory. Send anal worms** to the FOX people who wont let this one song be shared. Make those worms bore into the part oftheir brains that make them perfect cunts. Amen.

* Im an atheist, so dont get mad. Or fuck off.

** If there is a god, she can create them, so fuck off. Edited on May 21, 2011, 09:44pm

It seems whenever someone has a complaint about a network, it is FOX. I include myself. They do have some good programming so I will watch shows I like, but does not mean I am happy with them. They will always be the network that canceled Firefly. CURSE YOU FOX!!! Warning Will Robinson Edited on May 30, 2011, 11:54am

But my favorite show is on Fox dammit - So You Think You Can Dance. For non-porn it is the best show on TV. So it's almost Fuck Fox If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee.

If you're going to lay her head over the pool table and fuck her throat, get your fucking hand off her throat!

Yes, screw them and their Firefly (and Arrested Development) cancelling jackassery. I don't know why Whedon doesn't just stick with the CW, they pretty much never cancel anything. If that shitball superman show lasted 8 seasons, I can only assume Firefly would have been on there for 30 years.

Although as per the original post, I think most media companies consider licensing as black and white, thus I sort of doubt Sony, EMI, or whomever would have reacted differently. Also, I suspect like with John Mayer, you may need a vagina to like Coldplay. It is a shame that 12-18 year olds (girls) are such a driving force behind the music industry. Bunny Lebowski: I'll suck your cock for a thousand dollars.
Brandt: Ah hahahahaha! Wonderful woman. We're all, we're all very fond of her. Very free-spirited.

Well, at least Whedon came out with Serenity, which I enjoyed. And the actors went on to other projects: Terminator, etc.

Amen to that. I don't understand it, but this is certainly true. Consider how big this Justin Beiber girl is. All the kids fawn over her...

True but it's still a major pisser for people like me who thought that Firefly had the potential to be a true classic series like Star Trek. Not in the same way but the writing and premise of Firefly were on par with Star trek.

As much as I'd like to thank Fox for all the Sci/Fi shows they have offered us over the years. I can't help but remember all the shows that they teased us with only one season and on the rare occasion 2 or maybe 3 seasons.

In no particular order: Firefly, Harsh Realm, Space above and Beyond, The sarah Connor chronicles, Dollhouse, Dark Angel and let me add Fringe to the list. This last one isn't dead yet but don't be surprised if this is the year that Fox pulls the plug. I was a huge fan of Fringe for the first 2 seasons but I haven't been able to follow it this year. They keep moving it's time slot so it's nearly impossible to see the show because I never know when it's playing. They have often done that with other shows.

I think that Firefly wins the award for the best network skullfuckery of it's fans. The pilot for Firefly was not the first episode aired and they never aired the episodes in the proper sequence. What does it say to the creator and possible fans of a new show that you don't give a shit if the pilot for a potentially very lucrative show is aired first? Long live the Brown Coats.

Yeah, I remember reading something about them screwing with the sequence, they didn't want to start the show with a two-part episode or something? I think they'll let Fringe hang around for a while just because of Abrams, and it seems closest in tone to The X-Files, which they have been trying to replace for a decade.

I thought Sarah Connor was more or less rightfully cancelled, it started out good, but as soon as that white rapper from 90210 showed up, I sort of lost interest. Dollhouse had its moments, but was pretty hit or miss, particularly the beginning of Season 2. Dushku's hot and all, but that show really showed off her lack of range. I really liked Dark Angel, not sure why the scrapped that one. As I've said before, at least Fox Sci-Fi shows are excellent at discovering new "talent". Bunny Lebowski: I'll suck your cock for a thousand dollars.
