Does anyone here have a porn "workflow"?

When I join a porn site I'm always interested in downloading content so's I can watch it offline and long after my subscription has expired but I'm curious as to how others here consume porn site content?

Do you download scenes you like and if so, do you capture the details of the scene somehow? For example, do you save the downloaded video file named using the actors name, scene title and release date, or do you go further and have a spreadsheet into which you copy and paste full details about the scene along with the downloaded filename?

I'm curious because I used to just download the scene and name the file with the actors name, but more recently I've taken to actually web-scraping the details from the scene pages of the site, which some folk may think is a bit obsessive, but hey that's just me

If you start to download a lot of porn, you need some way to keep it organized.
I used to try to re-name my photosets and videos with the name of the site, female porn star(s), posting date, and title of the photoset or video.
A few sites (like the MetArt sites) do this for you with the default file name.

But for years now, I've become really lazy, and my porn collection is a jumbled mess.

What helps is having a good search engine that will search my files by model's name, or site name.

Everything.exe is good, but it doesn't include all the external drives I have.
So I also use WiseJetSearch.exe, which does search not only the main drive, but also the external drives.

However, the Everything.exe is better at starting the files you find.

Both search programs are free, and there is no learning curve: they both work from the start. And their footprints are small, they only take a small amount of storage space. Edited on Oct 16, 2020, 06:50am

When I join a site I create it's own folder and then go alphabetically of my favorite models. If it's a site I absolutely love, I create two folders in that site folder and have one for the site videos and the other my favorite models. I have also created a database file and cataloged all the folders and their location on my externals, I keep it on my main monitor desktop. Over the years I have picked up upwards of 30 externals, from 4TB clear up to 10TB. Yeah, yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should.

I like to think of myself as pretty computer savy but I have never even heard of those search engines. What is your OS, Mac or PC/Windows? I use Windows 10 and the search function is really good and fast. I am extremely leery of any .exe file most especially freeware as from the wrong source can reek havoc with your system. Yeah, yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should.

My OS is Windows 10.
I've been using the Everything.exe program for years.
I did a Norton virus scan on the program when I first installed it, and have done many full system scans since then, and the Everything.exe program never showed up as a threat, potential or otherwise.

The WiseJetSearch.exe is also freeware, and raised no flags with the Norton antivirus.
I started using the WiseJetSearch.exe because the Everything.exe did not scan all of my external drives.

There is a fake version of Everything.exe that is a malware program.

Like you wrote, hackers can create malware fakes that have the same name as valid programs. So there are probably fake WiseJetSearch.exe programs out there.

I run Norton scan a lot, and have found very few malware files on my PCs.
Just lucky, I guess.
And the malware files I had were easy to remove.

But Norton, McAfee, etc. are limited in what they can find.
An excellent hacker can probably write programs that will be installed on your PC, if you visit the wrong site, download the wrong file, use wifi a lot, etc.
But for peace of mind, I use Norton antivirus.
Although I am thinking of switching to McAfee, since that's included with my internet cable, and I was paying annually for the Norton service.

Windows search scans your PC and the internet.
I prefer to have a simpler search engine, that only scans my PC.
And the 2 search engines I use are both free and faster than the Windows search, take little drive space, and update results very fast. Edited on Oct 17, 2020, 04:18pm

When I join a site for the first time, I typically download everything (mostly video) and will sift through it later offline.

I have accumulated so much now though that I haven't actually gone through them all as I kept getting more. So I took a break and haven't downloaded anything since August of 2019 to go through what I have and I've only now gotten half way through.

If it is a site I've joined in the past, then I will look for the last video I downloaded and will download everything since that video... then it's a repeat of above.

In terms of organization, I keep external HDDs with the site/studio as the main folder, with sub-sites as sub folders. I also typically label with title of video studios/site chose with female performer name. I currently have filled 2 8TB, 2 4TB, and 1 2TB HDDs.

For ex.

HDD#1:

[BANGBROS]
- [ASS PARADE]
- "KELSI IS PERFECTION [KELSI MONROE].mp4"
- [BIG TIT ROUND ASSES]
- "BIG TITTY JOY RIDE [ANNABEL REDD].mp4"
[TINY4K]
- "TINY PLAYFUL TEASE [ELSA JEAN].mp4"
- "CANDYLAND [BELLA ROSE].mp4"

I like to rate [1 to 5 stars] scenes and will usually delete low rated scenes first without hesitation if I need to make room for new content, but I have had a hard time finding a good media player for that. In the past when I was younger I used Windows Media Player and later iTunes, but none of these work the way I want. VLC was my go to but it won't let me rate, so I currently use MediaMonkey as it loads directly from my external HDDs like iTunes or old school Windows Media Player but faster.

Annotating actors, etc. means too much effort, so I use to put it in writing a program that reads the webpage, extracts the data, and creates directories for each movie. The descriptions go into a file (descript.ion), which can be read by old ACDSee v2 file manager / image viewer. That also takes time, but creating software is a hobby for me. Afterwards, I start downloading whatever is of my interest, and delete unneeded directories. And you can always describe what you have downloaded, via ACDsee, that is.

I use to search with File Finder, a tool from Power Desk Explorer, again an old program, but I've been quite happy with it for so many years. Newer does not always mean better. In the case of site designs, newer has become worse in almost every case.

I am most assuredly no longer tech savvy so my process is pretty low tech. But, with 25 external drives in use (not all of them full) and most of those 4TB, I need some system otherwise my collection would be completely unmanageable.

Like others above, when I join a site I have to make a decision as to how I’ll ‘attack’ it. These days that’s a bit easier because I have approximately 30 to 40 sites that I rejoin over and over. So with those sites I simply find the scenes uploaded since I was a member last and move forward from then.

The way I keep track of memberships plays a role here too. I have a Word document with a table that I use to track memberships. I started this in 2012 because I had problems keeping track of the multiple memberships I have on the go at any time. I track the site name, the join date, the username and password, the biller, the date I’ll have to cancel the membership (at least five days before rebilling), the date I actually cancelled the membership and then a ‘notes’ column. I use the notes column to track things like membership numbers (if one is given – that makes cancelling easier) or notes as to which scene or DVD I last downloaded, or maybe warnings to the future me on update, quality or billing issues.

With my membership list it’s easy to do a search to see when I was a member there last. That gives me a concrete start point when I rejoin that site.

Once I join a site I either create a new folder titled for that site or continue using the same folder on the same drive where I have put previous downloads from that site. I treat sites like Evil Angel and New Sensations a bit differently by creating a separate folder for each DVD I download.

I name all my downloads for the model(s) in the scene.

I keep track of all of this in another Word document, this one a three-column table. It’s pretty simple and I’ve used this format for over 20 years. Could I have a better system? Probably, but this works. I track the name of the site or DVD in the first column, the models in the centre column and then the third column has the drive number where the site or DVD is located. This document is currently 259 pages long.

So, for example, if I want to see what scenes I have with a specific model I simply do a Word search in that document and all her scenes will be identified.

But, I don’t end there. Like most collectors I have certain things that I like to track. We all have things that interest us. When I find a scene that has something that I really like, say a redhaired model, or freckles, or it features a boat, a hot tub or pool, I’ll flag the file by appending “check boat” or “check redhead.” That way, when I plug a drive in I can see all my favourite scenes on the drive by doing a search for the word “check.”

I then have a third list for these favourites. It’s a three column document too. I track the site/DVD name in the first one, the model and a brief description of what I flagged the scene for, and then the drive number. So, for example, I might have listed a DVD and then the second column will have “Alex Tanner – red hair” or “Jynx Maze – big cock anal.”

The problem with this is that I need to use the same flag terms for everything. It’s not a fatal flaw in many cases because even if the precise term is occasionally a bit different there is enough commonality that I can still find the scenes in the list. So, for example, I may have flagged different scenes with “red hair” or “redhead” but searching “red” brings them all up.

I think what differentiates people like us, people who collect porn rather than just view whatever we can find, is that we all have to come up with some system to track it all. And to be honest, that cataloguing and tracking of my collection is one aspect of this odd hobby that I really enjoy.

I organise my downloaded files by network with a folder for the network and depending on how the downloaded files are named, I might have further separate sub-folders.
When I download a scene I'll add it to the site's favourites list or to some other "collection" feature such as those provided by sites like bang.com

Recently I've started writing scripts to scrape scene info and thumbnails for the site which I save in a spreadsheet, and the same script gets the downloaded scene files from my hard drive and matches them up to the downloaded scene info.

Like LKLK, I use voidtools' Everything utility to locate files on my hard drive if I don't recall exactly where they are.

Another useful utility is MediaInfo - I use it to extract information such as encoding bit-rate from my downloaded scene files - that way I can see which files are encoded with a larger bitrate than necessary and if there are a few of these then I'll use Movavi Video Converter to recode them to lower bitrates whilst still maintaining sharp quality. MediaInfo extracts all sorts of info from audio and video files and is pretty much indispensible to me. And it's free.

MediaInfo is a Windows GUI app but can also be called and automated from a command-line script so I incorporate it into my script so as to process my downloaded scenes to provide info like video duration, bit-rate etc.

I'm a bit of a tech-geek so the web-scraping scripting is usually fun, though it relies on Internet Explorer which doesn't work reliably with many sites so it's sometimes a challenge using it for web-scraping via a script.

Rather than buying external hard-drives, I just buy internal 3.5" drives (they're faster then 2.5" external drives) and drop it into a disk caddy which reads and writes to the disk at USB3 speeds.

For downloading I use an old version of Firefox which is setup not to auto-update and works with an old version of the DownThemAll browser extension which can export all the information for downloaded files to a text-file which my script reads so that downloaded files. their detailed technical info and the associated web-scraped scene info are all tied together with a spreadsheet produced to hold all the info.

I'm not obsessed with my porn collection - honestly Edited on Nov 17, 2020, 01:07am

I do have quite a workflow for every scene I download because I'm obsessed with data and its hygiene. I organize my collection by actress since that is what I care most about. The programs I use in my flow are: Firefox with Internet Download Manager, Picasa 3, Tagscanner, and Pornganizer v5

First, naming convention

Scene name (Release date in format YYYY-MM-DD) [Network name] [Site name]

For example, say I'm downloading this scene.

The file would be named: "Fucking the Deal (2012-12-13) [Brazzers] [Big Tits at Work]". I download the associated images file and give it the same name. I select an image from that file and crop it to widescreen. I then open my tagging program. I put the scene in the program, and then tag it with the cropped image, its name, the "Artist" (female performer[s]), its release date, and then in the Comment tag I put the scene description like so.

After that is complete I move the file to my NAS in a folder with the actress' name. So for the example above a folder named "Jayden Jaymes". A subfolder within it is labeled "Pics" and I move the associated image folder and its .zip there. Picasa 3 then reads the images and scans faces so pics can be organized by actress within that program.

While Picasa is scanning faces I add the video file to Porganizer 5 which reads the file name and its tags and organizes it within that program mostly automatically. I then add categories, genres, and other attributes to the scene. Pornganizer stores all of this in a realm database file.

If there are scenes with more than one actress that I like, I put their names at the beginning of the file and put the file in a folder labeled either "2" when there are two actresses I like (this would mostly be threesome and lesbian scenes but some FFMM foursomes as well) or "3+" if there are at least two actresses I like plus one or more that I may or may not care about. So the naming convention would go "Actress A & Actress B - Scene Name (YYYY-MM-DD) [Network] [Site]" for two. For the other scenario it would be "Actress A, Actress B, Actress C - Scene Name (YYYY-MM-DD) [Network] [Site]".

I really need to brush up on my Python skills to automate some of this stuff.
