Content Organiser Hi Guys - my first post! Really enjoying the site and will be adding as many reviews as I can find time to write. I'm a bit of a porn hoarder and currently have around 12Tb of content. I find keeping track of everything more and more dificult though and especially wanted some way of referencing all the sets of a particular model. So..I wrote a program to keep everything referenced. It's pretty basic - my original plan was to use mysql databases but that would mean using the progam to browse rather than just keeping things organised. So...at present what it does is look through "fairly organised" time based folders (e.g. d:\metart\2009\04\25 - Altea B\*.jpg), unzip any new zip files and create shortcuts back to a central "model" area and vice versa. Seems to work pretty well (for me at least) and I was wondering if anyone else would find this a useful tool and like to get involved in testing and suggesting updates etc. The big downside at the moment is our collections have to be quite organised to start with but it's a start. Anyway - nice to meet you all! Z

I'm sure organizing content locally is a challenge for many of us. Right now I've been organizing the files with a simple directory structure using site names. Then I use the Media Player library to add searchable/sortable meta data. The only problem with my method is the man-hours I need to put in to add the meta data. If a porn site doesn't label the files with the model name then I rename the file as I'm downloading. I always download into a "new" content folder and when I have some time to kill I move vids into the Media Player library folders and start adding meta data. I think the only way to get around the meta data issues was if sites added it themselves in a standard format. That would be GREAT but I don't see it happening any time soon.

Hello and welcome, zzzins. You are in the same boat as me when it comes to hoarding and I think there are some other's here that can give you a run for you money as far as hoarding goes (hi badandy400 :)). However, as far as the organization topic, I don't know where but somewhere most of us were talking about how we organized our stuff (maybe a poll?) but I think the main consensus in most of the people here was that most organize, but they do it in their own way. Some said half the things they do don't even make sense but it's just how they do it. So, I don't know how interested some of us would really be. In fact, personally, I organize my stuff in such a strict certain way, that any type of organization to the way I do it know would prolly be the same as rabbit punches to the kidneys. I think it's a great idea for yourself and I'm sure you are writing it according to how you like to organize, but as weird as it sounds, I sort of enjoy just organizing my collection myself in a 'hands-on' approach. However, I know for one thing, when a site gives names to their files with no model or scene info ticks me off a lot. I.E.: a filename named "Afd1234" as opposed to "Altea_Scene_01". Writing something for that would be great but I don't see how that would be remotely possible (computer knowledge = subpar). Just my 2 cents... Sexted From My iPad

Personally, a bulk rename utility, Excel and some time spent keeping things neat is all I need. Now a total of 4¢. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

Gees. Every time the topic of content hoarding comes up my name seems to appear somehow? Hum...seems like a stereotype is forming here. Good. :) 12 TB is a good amount of porn. You need to make a post in our computer setup thread https://www.pornusers.com/forum/forum_thread.html?threadid=13 ...I hope I got that link right, never done it here before. Gcode. I absolutely hate when people name their files sfhjhf.wmv or video.mpeg or, well you get the point. I even make mention to this in my reviews since it is important to anyone who wants to save more than a few GB of content. After all video74.wmv means something to me right as I download it but 10 minutes later it is useless. I always sort things based on the website they come from. This has many advantages when it comes time to update from a site a year later and you lost your notes on what was last downloaded. On things you can consider doing if you like to sort by model name but like to know what site it came from, and be able to later run a search and get a list of everything form that site, is to have the site name be part of the file name. Example: Model name is Kate Site name is BustyBrides, I wonder if that exists yet? So you name the file "Kate - BustyBrides.wmv' Obviously you do not want to type in this for every file. You can get macro programs to do all the extra typing for me. I use a keyboard remapper that does a decent job at this. Set the way I do I highlight "Kate" on the page, press "`" to copy it(my shortcut) and click to download the file then replace the name by, for me, pressing "1" which is the macro that will type in " - BustyBrides" thus I end up with the desired file name. Of course this takes a lot of manual work as well, but I do it as I am queuing up for my downloads and then do not have to worry about it any more. It is a very handy way to cut down on the amount of repetitive typing. Ah hell, I got it wrong! Look at the address bar, the last thing you see in the name after you open this thread is 670, replace it with 13 and that will take you to that thread. It is buried pretty deep by now so it might take a minute to find by going through all the past threads. Thanks Guys, very interesting reading. I hadn't thought of using meta tags in the video files for viewing withe media player - that's certainly something I can add. I agree that the organisation is part of the fun and my tool has so far been written to fit my way of doing things. I'd love the challenge of trying to get the tool working for some other methods and comment regarding the way others organise is very useful. The next step I'm trying to add the the program is a screen scrape. Particularly useful for sites like metart where the zip file has a unique name but no model info. The scrape would find the file name on the site and get date, model and set names from there. One less step to do when downloading (I currrently rename the zip to "day - modelname" and put it in a dated folder and the tool does all the unzipping and shortcut creation. I'm certainly going to look at keyboard remapper as a way of renaming the zip files going into FDM - looks like that might save some time - thanks. Another tricky aspect I'm looking at is to link models using different names on different sites - not got far with that one yet...any suggestions - maybe screenscraping again from an online database such as sportyones (or is there one on TBP??) Will post my setup into the forum for info. Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Z

Iknoporn has also been working on an organization system, nicknamed th Porncommander (see here: https://www.pornusers.com/forum/forum_thr...ad.html?threadid=385). He seems to have encountered problems though finishing up. I'd be interested to see what you have going.

Having read the thread I think the same delays for getting PronCommander out there are going to dog me. I too use a third party product (wzunzip - CLI option for winzip) and nothing is yet documented (although I knew that would be the last thing I'd get around to doing - why document when you're the only person using it!!!?). I'm going to keep ironing out bugs then ask for some testers - I think the screenscraping idea to get model info out of downloaded video has legs that some people may find helpful even if the unzipping feature and shortcut creation isn't for anyone else. Here's where I am at present. 1. Full GUI - am I right in the knowledge that PornCommander is CLI? 2. Each site has to have root folder and a dated structure although the actual structure is flexible and configured using an ini file with "path masks" such as x:\{collectionname}\yyyy\mm\dd - {modelname}\{pics or vid} 3. Each site has various settings configured for example does each update contain pictures AND video (eg. 1BD) are there model info txt files included in zips (eg. metart) and lots more (at the moment only really supporting sites I collect but I've not found a site that can't be added with this tye of masking approach). 4. Options for processing are things like: - process new sets (set a date and a collection and unzip and organise all files since that date) - timer processing (run a full unzip on all setup collections every x minutes. - back processing (for sorting out non-new downloads where you've already unziped the photos etc.) However, unlike the sound of PornCommander I'm not going into thumbnail production etc. I'm sure most of us have other programs we use to actually look at the stuff we collect. This is primarily a tool to enable you to look at a set, think - "man...she's hot...have I got anything else with her in it?" and keep a small central area to enable you to jump around between all a model's appearances in your collection. Anyway -I'm waffling and as most have stated so far - each person collects differently and organises differently (this "vive la difference" was the reason I stopped organising using others' csv files as the format rarely matched my own prefferences). So - I'll try and get the screenscraping working (although it's causing some problems due to password protected sites at present..anyone know how to force a vb.net screenscrape to log into a protected site??) or a website with models to sites and aliases. If not - you know...I may just start one up...my asp isn't too bad!!

I'm guessing that someone might be interested in this> I've got the screen scraping working (not aon all websites but on sites like 1ByDay and Met-Art. So - you give the program a zip file (with it's original name) or tell it a "code" from a jpg name or something (e.g. on Met art something like af_329 and it will trawl the site and find the name of the model, the date, the set name and the photographer. You can then either manually use that info or the program can unzip and store the pics in a date or model centric (or both) folder structure. Still developing but it's turning into a pretty useful tool. Not all sites are working that I've tried it on though - anyone able to give me any advice on how to work out they type of authentication used by a site - e.g. Basic or Digest (or I believe there are all sorts of other types too!!). when putting our content together we opted for a system of naming the files so that its easy to tell which set every file is from and that we would never end up with duplicate file names even if every image was in the same folder. I thought this was just the logical way to do it. What (if there is such a thing) the norm when it comes to how sites name their content or what is the preferred way to those that download it ? http://www.brooke-lee-playmates.com British Tease With A Naughty Twist

I'm rather meticulous about organizing the various files separately, but a naming system is smart. A lot of sites use server generated names, which frankly is irritating because it is usually a meaningless string of numbers. Preferred would be something like this: doris_a_001_001.jpg (or .wmv, or whatever) I believe it wise to give the models a last name initial even if they don't use one, that way you can have multiple models with the same name and not worry about it. The first "001" indicates the specific set and then the second "001" dictates the file's order within that set. This way you can have up to 999 sets containing 999 files each. I find that is plenty for most sites. You could even attach your site's name at the beginning if you wanted to be really anal, lol (or at least an abbreviation of the name, say "blp_") "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!" Yeh thats just what we do but with slightly larger numbers and a random element in there to help prevent any url guessing http://www.brooke-lee-playmates.com British Tease With A Naughty Twist
