I'm a long time Star Trek fan. If given a choice of picking only one out of all the series. Then I would pick the orginal everytime. I take nothing away from the other series, but all they did is build upon a powerful cult following. That is one of the reasons why I was a little affraid of the direction they might be going with this movie. We get some tidbits of Kirk and Spocks youth, but they don't add anything major to the story. I'll second all the Pro and Cons of wittyguy. My biggest beef with the movie is the engine room(it made no sense at all). The effects are stellar, the casting is amazing(Bones and Scotty). The story has quantum singularity holes in it. I wish I could name some of them but ot's impossible without giving spoilers and I think that if you call yourself a Trek fan then you have to see this movie. I enjoyed the movie, but I consider this more an alternate universe Star Trek than an actual retelling. All right when are we getting another one??? Long live the Brown Coats.

I had a feeling that this movie was going to be like this in terms of being in the Star Trek genre but nothing too great in being on the same wavelength of the original series. Personally, I think they are fine using the Star Trek name but they should have made it in a different timeline with other characters. But, I can't knock it until I see it. Plus, the combination of people who have seen it here (Wittyguy's score is quite high for a PU! and is on track to standardizing the PU scoring system on anything not including porn sites, maybe I should start using this system on my girlfriends... :)) and others who have seen it had nothing to say about it but good things.... I liked the movie, but there were too many things that were inconsistent with the tv shows. For example the Romulans did not look like they should, and their ship did not resemble what it should look like. Overall I liked the effects, but the shows were much more into character development. Still, it was fun to watch as long as you don't get too picky about how it is not too much like the Star Trek universe.

Ik2fireone, generally, I have a cup of whatever Gevalia blend I am currently sampling after my morning dose of porn. As for the image, it was a good depiction of Icefire. One of these days (at least sometime this century) I plan to modify the pic by adding a talon moving to grasp the object. Letum prius Dedecus Edited on May 22, 2009, 03:45am

Saw the new Star Trek movie - it was enjoyable, though I don't know how memorable I will find it - it seems to be slipping already. It's been a good season for big-budget popcorn movies, so far. I've seen several and haven't walked out disappointed from any of them.

I used to love popcorn with my movies. But when they charge $5.00 for a small popcorn, and $7.50 for a large popcorn, I find it's cheaper to watch a movie without any popcorn.
