Article complaining about the prices of paysites I found an article complaining about the prices of paysites, arguing that the cost of subscriptions to paid porn sites are insanely high. What do you think of the article? http://www.die-screaming.com/porn-member...ps-expensive-429291/

My opinion. The article is extremely one-sided, and does not make sense. Porn is an industry. The price of porn has gone down over time, especially since it became available on the internet. Back in the 1970s, to buy a single porn VHS tape cost maybe $80 or more. To buy a non-porn, commercial movie VHS tape cost maybe $80. Once DVDs came out, the prices dropped rapidly. And when the internet became popular, prices dropped even more, for both porn and non-porn. The article compares a subscription to netflix to a paid porn site. The author does not mention that netflix has over 75 million streaming subscribers. And that is separate from the DVD customers. If a porn paysite had 75 million subscribers, they would scream with joy, and they could afford to drop their membership fees. The author writes: "With the insane pricing detailed above, it’s actually amazing that anyone pays to join any of these sites." So I guess he is implying: Steal the porn instead, or watch it for free on a tube site. Or maybe pay a few dollars a month and use one of the services that he is promoting. I don't think the author is an idiot. But he is biased. He believes he should get his porn as cheaply as possible. Which is the natural way of thinking. But he doesn't believe that the porn producers or sellers should be paid very much, if at all. People believe in different ways. If paid porn-sites lose their paying customers, they will have to shut down. The US government does not spend a lot of money trying to support paid porn sites. Duh. The argument in this article doesn't make sense. He argues that paying $20-30 per month for access to a paysite's entire library is a bad deal, yet paying $25 to stream five porn movies for a week is a good solution? The price is basically the same, and with a membership you can download thousands of videos. There are so many other flaws in his argument, but I will just stop right there. Better to be pissed on, than to be pissed off.

There are people who just need to find something to complain about. They could shit gold nuggets and still complain about having to wipe their ass. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

1-The articles is 2 years old so those prices aren't necessarily correct. 2-Nowhere does he mention the ability to buy a membership at a special reduce cost like visitors to TBP, PU and Rabbits. 3-He's comparing apples with oranges when he uses Netflx and Hulu as the equivalent to joining a porn site. 4-He fails to consider that a yearly membership to Netflix is going to cost you from 80$ to 120$ so how is that any different from joining a porn site for a 120$ a year? 5-Finally the clue that tells me this guy is schilling for VOD sites. The guy must think that we can't do basic math not to realise that streaming cost are so high that you are better off buying the movie than actually streaming it all the way through. The only positive is that he doesn't recommend that people go the tube or torrent site route. Long live the Brown Coats.

He also doesn't consider the fact that online pornography is a high risk industry. Paysites have huge chargeback rates. Vanilla streaming sites like Netflix don't have that issue.

I believe the most important reason for subscribing to a porn site, outside the obvious interest in supporting the creative talents responsible for your favorite porn, is having a voice in the future direction of said site. ATK makes it a point of responding to customers in the comments section and closely monitoring what people want. I'm fairly certain this is why ATK Girlfriends has pretty much become a POV creampie website. Simply put: If you don't pay for your porn, your opinion about it doesn't matter. (Also, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon have increased their prices since that article. Most annual memberships are comparable or cheaper than subscribing to those services.) Currently both the highest package for Netflix and the highest package for Hulu cost $12 a month. Amazon Video costs $9 a month. Most paid porn sites cost $20-$30 dollars a month. But since paysites don't have millions of subscribers and are high risk merchants, they are justified in charging more than the "big three" streaming sites. The guy that wrote the article also over looked the downloading factor.

^Don't forget that it's common for most sites to offer a significantly reduced rate if you buy a yearly membership so membership to most porn sites winds up being the same price as joining Netflix or Hulu. Another thing that the writer fails to mention and it's that you get to keep the porn you buy when you join a porn site. That is not the case with streaming sites. Long live the Brown Coats.

I really had a few belly laughs thanks to this one! Would be more concerned about privacy issues, once the word got out, than about the ass-wiping. I can just picture the commodities traders on the floor staring at a huge video display of the "Golden Anus," waiting to "dump." I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

Call me a cynic but I would be a lot more concerned about all the gold companies that would want me dead or best case scenario locked up somewhere producing gold only for them. Long live the Brown Coats.
