Sites Not Ready For Prime Time... Ya know, it ought to be pretty basically understood that a) If you're going to have a site, a member ought to be able to click and get access and do things like - you know - download videos and things and b) If you're going to pay some company to send promo invites to join your site, a person receiving the promo invite ought to be able to click on the link and actually have the page load where they could join if they see fit. But noooooooooo Yesterday, it took me crazy amounts of time to be able to get a vid download started at actionjav, a site with great updates but serious navigation issues. This afternoon, I come home to see an invite to join Flashybabes for $5 for a month - I click on the link and the thing takes forever to load, then it gives me the old "pick a username & password", then click to see the membership options. So I fill out the username and password, click and after another ridiculous amount of time, I just get an error. What's the fucking point? If you can't have members navigate your site, shut it down. Go open a Japanese equivalent of a taco stand or something else that doesn't require much technology. If you can't have your site respond to promo mailings, why pay for them? Just save your money. Jeeeessh!!

Is someone around here having a bad porn-day? I sometimes have that problem with my desktop, which is why I got a new laptop. But that has created a new set of problems: Like trying to type on a laptop keyboard, use the laptop mouse, view the laptop monitor, etc. etc. etc.

These guys are pornographers, not tech geeks. Many of them, believe it or not, actually do try their best - but the money just is not there for many of them to have insanely fast servers on insanely fast connections with a highly trained dedicated support staff on-duty 24/7.

I agree with you but then don't start a porn site unless you know what you are doing or paid someone who does. You are only going to piss off customers and lose your money in the process. Long live the Brown Coats.

Bandwidth is a finite resource. There is no way to get around this limitation. What would you prefer them to do? Edited on May 06, 2010, 01:22am

Get enough servers to do the job. There are plenty of sites that have fast, seamless navigation, page-loading times that seem instantaneous, etc. These sites that don't work on a fundamental level are the exception, luckily, not the rule.

I think a lot are on a limited budget. Some in terms of finance, some in talent & some in skill. Cap'n. I would tell them the same thing I would tell anyone that says they want to start a business. Find out all that you can about the business you plan to start and once that is done then make sure you have all the things necessary to have a chance at making money. I'd rather someone chose not to start a porn site and put their money in something else then read that a company went bankrupt because they simply couldn't get traffic to their site and the reasons was that it had too many problems. There was a time when you could have started a porn site from your garage and you had a pretty good chance to make money but those days are over. Today I would tend to believe that you more likely to lose all your money and that is never fun. Long live the Brown Coats.

Here's another example: I got a promo to join New Sensations at a special price, so I figured I ought to take a tour - so far the site crashed twice while I was touring - suuuuuuuuure, I want to join a site that can't even maintain itself during a tour! Duh!!
