RIP David Bowie

Not sure how many Bowie fans we have here, but David Bowie has passed away at the age of 69 after battling cancer.

R.I.P.

He was an amazing artist and songwriter/performer. An inspiration to many. He will be sorely missed, but his songs will live on forever in our hearts.

RIP David Bowie. His music had a big impact on my life growing up. Listening to Space Oddity right now. He will be missed.

A very sad beginning to the new year. I hardly buy any albums, so have none of his, but my radio is tuned to a station that is focused on 80's and 90's music, so his songs are a large part of their selection. I manly remember him from his role in "The Man Who Fell to Earth". An excellent performance. Warning Will Robinson

David Bowie songs were part of the repertoire for garage bands in the '70's. I wound up learning a handful myself. He was quite an innovator, making music that was original yet very accessible. It's a shock that he's gone. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

Loved his music though I never owned much of it. But "Panic in Detroit" remains among my favourite songs. Hearing the news yesterday was a shock since he seems to kept his struggle private. That alone speaks volumes about the man in these times of constant tweets.

The guy was a true legend and did so much in his musical career, he appealed to so many cause he changed so much and was never held down to a style of music, pretty much did it all.

Such a shock and sad loss to hear of his passing, RIP David. "Women are like tricks by sleight of hand, Which, to admire, we should not understand." WILLIAM CONGREVE

I won't do a full list or we'll be here all day but even just recent BB King, Lemmy, Chris Squire, Lou Reed. Even if you don't think they were all awesomely skilled they were all important in terms of their contributions to their genres. And it isn't going to get any better. The musicians that formed a huge part for lots of us are going to leave soon. Lou Reed has gone but of those left, for me Leonard Cohen is going to be the hardest hit. And we don't even know these people. Edited on Jan 13, 2016, 01:40pm

I was never a fan TBH, but he certainly did have charisma.

The world is a little duller without him.
