Cleaning LCD Screens Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of how to clean LCD screens without damaging anything. I googled it but it is all this mixed opinion crap or weird chemicals that I'm a bit worried to use. Can you just use a paper towel and water? Any thoughts or ways would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and it's not anything THICK or DRIED up either :) Just good ol' fashioned dirt n' grime and such. Sexted From My iPad

Yeah, how else are you going to clean both the inside and outside? But seriously, I would just use water and a soft cloth or cotton towel. Paper towels will work, but I believe they can scratch, especially ones with a lot of recycled content, as they might have a minute amount of metal in them. The problem is, paper towels might not look like they scratch at first, but you could eventually have a subtle brushed look to the screen. And even though we see it all the time in porn, spit is not recommended...unless you are really pissed at the monitor. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I've been using Nice and Clean LCD wipes for years now without any problems. They're cheap ($3 for 24) at Wal-Mart or any electronic store. Though cheap, there are no harmful chemicals in them. Just be careful about asking for Nice and Clean wipes, there also is a baby wipes product with the same name. Also beware of the round containers of them. The 24 pack has 24 individually wrapped wipes in it. They are usually still moist for a year or so. The round container has an 80 wipe roll in it that you pull one from the top. Though cheaper, we tried them and ended up with about 70 dried out ones. Monster also makes a cleaning kit, same company that makes Monster Cables, I think it is about $15. I've been satisfied with the Nice and Clean though. Forgot something, I don't know about paper towels, could be too abrasive. The people I've seen that just use water wipe the water off with a piece of microfiber cloth, most sunglasses come with a piece or it can be bought for a couple of dollars at vision centers, car care stores, etc.. My first time I jacked off, I thought I'd invented it. I looked down at my sloppy handful of junk and thought, This is going to make me rich. - Chuck Palahniuk Edited on Jul 08, 2009, 12:12am

A lot of people are using small cans of compressed air. These can also be found in any office supply store. The advantage with these is that they require no touching of the screen and do not push dust and such into the corners. Plus the stuff works well with cleaning out heat sinks and other computer parts. I'm with exotics. Get those monitor wipes, but if you buy a big container expect them to partially dry out before you finish the tube.

As stated above, all the cleaning wipes that specify use on LCD monitors should be fine. The air can should also be fine most of the time, but do be aware that it can move those particles with tremendous force, so it can have the effect of a sand blaster if you are unlucky and lead to permanent scoring of the screen's surface. Two things you must never use on an LCD screen: Ammonia and/or Alcohol. They will stain or even dissolve the plastic. "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!" Ok sweet information, I'll check out actual wipes manufactured for LCD screens. By the way, these are all great ideas and info but I think Wittyguy's option may do the best cleaning. Gonna go try it now, talk to you all later.....maybe? :) Sexted From My iPad

I use a belt sander and brake fluid. Works wonders. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

The best solution I found was to dust it 2 or 3 times a day.
