Hacker/Virus Writers Targeting Porn Sites Now

Brazzers was apparently hacked by some assholes, who put a thing on the site that asked users to download a codex with the svchost.exe file in it.

In the thread that I read on their forum, the people talking about it weren't sure whether it was a key-logger or a browser hi-jacker. Either way, it ain't good.

So be aware, if you go onto one of your favorite sites and get some message about downloading a codex of some type, or anything in that realm, be VERY wary.

I'd be pretty wary of downloading any codec from a porn site. I've never heard of a site using a site specific codec for playing their videos, and if that were the case I wouldn't be a member there. Your always better off downloading software from a reliable source, not to offend the porn site operators out there but I don't really consider them that reliable. The scum-sucking vermin could be very clever with putting in a codec "upgrade" recommendation. From a porn site, that's just unusual, but that doesn't mean that some people wouldn't fall prey to the ruse.

I'd just try to view the video without the "new codec." If it really doesn't play, then go to the legitimate site and look for an upgrade there. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

ALWAYS BEWARE OF .EXE - FILES!!!!

A scum-sucking vermin or vermins is well put in cases like these....
And then, first of all: always and only download codecs from reliable sites - and if your get the latest k-lite codec pack, you'll be able to watch it all.

But more important: NEVER download an .exe -file, unless you're absolutely certain about the provider.

My understanding is that it's not just exe files that can contain malware, but almost any type of file. That includes jpg (a picture file) and other file types that used to be considered safe years ago.

And if you happen to visit an infected Internet site, you don't have to download anything for your computer to become infected. Just loading the site in your browser (in simpler words, going to the site) can infect your computer.

No kidding, but we'll always have these assholes around as long as we have and use the computers for them to fuck up in the first place. They're really just anarchists who want to cause trouble, but instead of dressing in black hoodies and going to protest the latest meeting of global-whatever they're sitting at home in front of a computer screen in a poorly lit room munching on junk food and cackling manically over their latest hacking ruse.

Yeah, isn't that what the free 'tube and torrent sites are for? "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? It pays to watch out for the slimy worms that try to cheat you or mess you up. But there are hackers out there who know far more about computers than we do. And even if we try to play it safe, we can still get stung at times with malware/whatever.

As an example of computer hacking:

The United States has a program that is developing and building a new fighter airplane, the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II.

The planes are supposed to cost between US$89 million and US$200 million over the planned production of F-35s, depending on the model (airplanes can have different models of the same basic plane, just like cars).

The United States intends to buy a total of 2,443 aircraft for an estimated US$323 billion, making it the most expensive defense program ever.

On 21 April, media reports, citing Pentagon sources, said that during 2007 and 2008, computer spies had managed to copy and siphon off several terabytes of data related to the F-35's design and electronics systems, potentially enabling the development of defense systems against the aircraft. However, Lockheed Martin has rejected suggestions that the project has been compromised, saying that it "does not believe any classified information had been stolen".

What the fuck do you think Lockheed would say? They are going to make billions of dollars from building the planes, and they are not going to say: "Gosh, they stole our secrets, now the United States needs a different plane that will be still be a secret. So lets open the bidding process and maybe another company will win the right to build those planes."

Ha ha. A $323 billion project, and computer hackers copied several terabytes of data on the F-35's design and electronics systems, allowing the development of defense systems against the plane? Edited on Jan 07, 2011, 02:42am

The big hacker/virus threat of the future - all the mobile devices, and the things that let you stream to your TV - all have lots of juicy information in them to steal and/or fuck with, few of them have any anti-virus/hacker software of the type that most PC's do, at this point.
