I really think it depends on the size of the zip.

There are some now in excess of 100Meg.

To my mind up to 100 photos & c.30Meg is a nice compromise.
You can get decent 'screen sized' photos with that.

Seeing Pat's thread titled 'What will happen in porn in 2011' got me thinking off on a tangent.......Yes, again, I know, I know!

Well, I doubt it will but, this is what I would like to see happen in porn in 2011.

Whilst there are some websites that manage to do both photo & video material well, they are very much in the minority.
The skillsets for technicians, producers & models differ more than might at first be apparent.
I think those with limited resources need to specialise more rather than dissipate efforts & funds.

Those of you who have been around here a while know that I am not a video enthusiast & know nothing of that side, so I won't waffle on about that.
I still love photoset material.
That can be taken at any pace you like.

All of my porn viewing is via a widescreen monitor, as I suspect most average porn users would have.
I have no need of the super-resolution pics that have suddenly sprung out of the woodwork.
Sure you can crop out the bits you want, if you are that way inclined.
Personally, I don't have the time or the inclination to do that.
For screen viewing I can't see the point over going over 2 - 3000pixels

For me a photoset should tell a story, albeit a simple one.
There should be progression through the set, whatever it's chosen subject matter.
In my opinion, that story should be capable of being told in 100 photos.
What really cheezes me off is lazy photogs & editors that just upload the entire shoot. Dozen of this pose. Dozen that pose.
You end up with a whale of a zip, of which you actually want about 20%.
All or nothing zips, especially those without a choice of resolution, should be consigned to history.
For some sites, I have actually gone back to the 90s method of downloading one pic at a time.
More forward looking websites already provide user selected zips.
I would very much like for these to become the norm for the industry.
To those who would argue, harddrive space is cheap, I would agree, yes it is.
What I don't want is to have to wade through reams of downloaded stuff I don't like to look at, to cherry pick the photos I want.
I would much rather make that decision before I download.

In general terms I think more niche specialisation is needed.
Torrents, user uploads etc have mainstream pornography flooded.

Well, that's my opener for two pennorth.

What do you think?

A very interesting thread idea.

I am pleased it has got a positive response.
It is very interesting to get an insight into the other side of the business.

Thanks to all that have answered so far.

That's right, Khan.

They are not giving me any information at all to help.

Their 'fraud prevention' is 'VScrub.'

Did a search on it & came up blank.

In itself that doesn't inspire any confidence!

Most recent email from them said there was nothing they could do.

Well screw 'em.

If I ever see CCBill I won't use them on principle now!

Even if I could!

A correlated feature.
I have noticed on some sites that zip file sizes have gone through a sonic boom in size very recently!

This linked with an apparently lazy attitude of just uploading all the shots means that often the size could be cut to 2/3rds or a half of the size, if they were edited properly to take out poorer & duplicate shots.

Conversely, I am now downloading less.
I haven't the time or inclination to sort through to find the 20% odd of the shots I actually like.
( I would like to add a note of appreciation here for those that have a custom zip function).

If it continues this way, I shall have to go back to the nineties method of downloading one pic at a time.

As has been suggested earlier in this thread, I wish a site would pick up on the Village Ladies style and do it in a more up to date fashion. There is a lot of unexploited mileage in the idea IMO.

Sophisticated youngish & mature ladies, nicely dressed, both formal & casual, who you would think would never dream of taking their clothes off for the camera.
Prim & proper.
Have them do a nice slow strip to clear full frontal nude!

Even after all these years, it still sounds a great idea to me!

The Powers That Be do have a book of rules that they work to. In the time I have been here, it has been enforced firmly but sensibly IMO.

I would be surprised if Webmanagers are not allowed to start threads. Sure, the thread content should be monitored for free adverting & spam, but I don't see any reason why they should not be able to ask a legitimate question, & quite honestly, I thought they could.

Thanks LK2.

I may just be reduced to trying that.

I am not the most patient with phone systems though, so it will be a last resort.

I just had another reply from CCBill asking if I have a problem!

Yes, models levels does seem to be a recurring issue for this genre.

Obviously it is a problem that generic hardcore sites do not have.

You are quite correct though JBD.
There is plenty of scope within the genre for more than enough variety.

TBH I don't know why the Disable function is there.

If you don't want to participate, just wander off & do your own thing.
I wouldn't have bothered disabling. You would only have to faff about getting the account re-enabled if you decided you wanted to participate again.

Unless Disabling of an account is a method of expressing your disapproval of something?

Yes, this is a common problem.

Videography & photography, might appear similar, but skillsets required for photographer and model are quite different.

That is why you get sites specialising in photography or videos.

Few do both well.

The sooner Webmanagers realise this, the sooner we will have sites that suit our tastes better.

Hey, Pat,

Give Arnie his due.

He did a first class robot!

Rather puts me in mind of the 'John Wayne' school of acting.

John Wayne as John Wayne in... 'Insert title here'.

Don't get me wrong, I liked his films, but....

He was always John Wayne.

Didn't do him any harm either, though did it?

I don't know if there is anyone who can help me out here, but I need to vent anyway.

I live on a small Island between England & Ireland, which is part of the British Isles, but not part of the UK.

I have never had any CC access problem from using UK issued cards until relatively recently. Things have been OK prior to this since the mid 1990s.

Now CCBill & Verotel are rejecting my applications at pre-authorisation, because they say I am not using the CC in the country it was issued.

Correspondence is ongoing with CCBill, but I just needed to vent & ask if anyone had any constructive suggestions to resolve this new & unacceptable situation.

I don't know TBH.

Not being a video enthusiast I wouldn't join a video only site anyway, so perhaps I had best leave an answer on that to those that do.

Yes, perhaps it should be like that.

I was looking at it more at a customers view point.

Virtually all sites used to be photo sites prior to widespread adoption of broadband.

Some sites do both, but are usually weighted either one way or the other.

These days a lot of sites are video based to the exclusion of photosets.

I agree with Monahan though, I feel it is better that a site specialises one way or another.

It has been debated here before whether there should be any price difference between a video based site & a photo site. I believe both formats are equally valid & of equal value if done properly.

My preference is for a photo based site.

Now that happens to me too.

On average about once every couple of weeks.

I am watching out for that one though.

Not really.

I think you would be better thinking through the sentence before you start to speak.

You won't have done...

That $45 value is a 'regional pricing' conversion.

Basically, yes.

Whilst I am not averse to the occasional video, photosets are where it is at for me.

This can be difficult. Ladies are hard to find with my standards for videos alone, however, pictures are much easier and you can really give a good close up still image of the necessary bits without the need for them to put on an act.

For me, that is sufficient.

I prefer full body shots to close ups & am not averse to seeing six or ten sets of a good & popular model in an archive.

Think about what you guys really want.... there are 365 days a year... if there were 5 updates per day like some of these major sites.. then that would mean.. little ole' me will be working my arse off just picturing girls that I don't want to picture, for what.. to keep up with the jones's?

If you are working in a niche, quality is better than quantity. As long as it stays on topic.

Not interested in bonus material.

Its creative wank material at its best..

I always say this, I'm not a huge company, I'm just a little bird in a huge world.. but in my heart I know what makes good filth.. not just BDSM.

Quality vs Quantity for me.

Yes me too!

I know eveything goes up with inflation, but someting just struck me today.

I am sure a few years ago the average price of a competent single porn site was around the $20.00 mark.

Now it seems to be around £28, ( $45 )
Has there been a bit of a step change of late that I have only just noticed?

Surely I haven't been out of it THAT long!
