As has been said earlier, unless portability is an issue, stick with a desktop set up.

You should get better 'bang for buck' that way.

M, my friend.

Do not despair.

Your company & input here is always welcome.
Even if, for some of us, the initial motivation to be here may have changed, we are still a tight, polite, considerate community.

Please don't leave us.
We would be that much poorer if you weren't around.

Another related gripe is the recent trend for billing companies to charge Euros for $s.

That is a form of regional pricing.

Basically they will try anything to slip under your radar & con you into clicking on their links.

Yes, I get similuated genuine titles to the spam emails too.

Another small recent negative development for us Brits.

Some CC companies in the UK have recently started to levy a charge for payments in currencies other than sterling.

I doubt it will happen overnight, but it would be nice if billing companies, without ripping us off, gave the option to buy in £.

I think it has always been there at a level.

The regional pricing scam was a relatively recent attempt to legitamise charging the customer more for nothing.

This failed with me because I won't buy if I see it.

I think the current perceived increase, is probably a sign of increasing desperation within the industry?

Exactly G, my friend, & that is why I decry the ever increasing perceived demand for hardcore.

There are freighterloads of it out there...

You don't need any more, if that is what you are looking for.....

Me?....I've got my cape & deerstalker hat on & looking with a magnifying glass for any traces leading to full nude softcore eroticism!

Perhaps I should expand a little on my previous post.

Whilst the internet connections & quality of content have vastly improved over the last few years, I feel the variety has decreased with the increasing perceived; and well over resourced ; demand for harder & harder material.

This has lead to relatively reduced choice & material in the softer niches.
There is a residual amount of non-nude successful sites, but the softer full nude sites have taken a real squeeze from highly efficient niche non-nude material on the one side & the seemingly endless baying for hardcore on the other.

Softcore full nude eroticism has taken a real beating over the last decade & sincerely needs to make a comeback, IMO.

As I said, for me the golden age has passed....I'm hoping my niche will rally & make something of a comeback.

IMO it is good, but not as good as it has been.

A few years ago I regularly had between 4 & 6 subscriptions active. Now, I could not find that many sites regularly supplying the kind of material I like, & in any case the increases in price ' Regional Pricing ' have lessened the appeal.

Now I am lucky if I have 2 on the go at once.

To answer the question.
From my point of view, I think we have had the golden age.
It finished a couple of years back.

Well, there are are lot of photographers out there that need to sharpen up their act then.

Yes, horizontal format does require a little more thought & care as to what you are including in shot.
That can actually add, rather than detract from the photo.

I can't count the number of shots I have seen, from respected photographers, whose vertical format work time after time ends in the clipping of body parts.

That was often the justification used by photographers when CCDs were smaller.
I don't think it holds water any more as the modern equipment is more than adequate for it not to matter.

TBH I don't think either camp is going to agree on this one.

I did reply to this earlier, but it seems to have been lost....

If your laws are anything similar to ours your CC company should refund the fraudulent charges.

Once they have done that, I would request a new credit card, just to be on the safe side.

OCD is a thing I have to live with every day.

Yes, clipping is bad photography, it seems mainly caused by the constraints of the vertical format, because it happens very often, unlike with horizontal format.

I never use my phone for porn.

I do agree with you on the angle shots--very annoying. KarupsPC is one of the worst offenders. I just joined them a couple of weeks ago (for one month), and I think its gotten worse than it was the last time I was there a couple of years ago. They use it a lot in the solo videos too, so I have to keep tilting my head! Very aggravating. I'll be posting a review of Karups pretty soon for anyone whose interested.

Happy new year to all!

The main issue I have with the vertical format is that it often clips bodyparts unintentionally & uneccesarily. The horizontal format, seldom, if ever does that. If you want to zoom in, you can without significant problem.

I can still see no benefit from vertical format now that CCDs are so advanced & just about everybody has a widescreen monitor.

Another thing that irritates me about certain photographer's styles is thankfully getting rarer, but still really irritates when I see it, is that 60's & 70's habit of artsy crazy random angles generated by twisting the camera about.

FFS hold the camera square!!

There feel better now!

( I know some folk like low angle shots & whilst I don't like it, I don't have an issue with that. )

I think with the current economical climate, any government is grabbing cash wherever they can without any serious considereation of any valid justification.

It is just they way things are at the moment.

One thing that really surprises me.

There can be all sorts of bizarre & even depraved fetishes listed, but despite all the categories in various site rating sites, I have yet to come across one that lists a 'Striptease' fetish.

I can't really believe that is true myself, but I have yet to find one.

It is time for photographers and websites to get with it.

IMO there is no longer any excuse for using the vertical format except, perhaps, for artistic impact eg a facial portrait.

Sure there was an argument when CCDs were somewhat challenged in the resolution, but we are now way beyond that point & that argument is no longer valid.
If you like you can crop or zoom into a well taken horizontal format image for what you want with little, if any, perceptable loss of quality.

Another observation I would like top throw into this thread is photo orientation.

I really do not get why many photographers still insist on using the vertical format. It adds nothing and subtracts a lot when viewing on a modern widescreen monitor.

Horizontal format shots win for me every time.

I really cannot understand why it should be legal and not even raise an eyebrow to publish games featuring dismemberment & death, whilst they will recoil in horror if a game were to dare to show a naked body!

It defies logic to me.

It really isn't that difficult, and I feel there is a market for it, as evidenced by the longevity of this thread.

I just wish there were a few sites that did a decent job of it.

Well, I would define many of the photosets published which focus almost exclusively on the genetalia as being obsessive.

There seem to be an awful lot of photographers who do that.

Yes, I really don't care for obsessive gyno close ups.

IMO it is much nicer to see most or all of the lady concerned.
