I too share the concern of your loss, my friend. That much waste would bury into anybody' craw. I wish I was more technically inclined wherein I could help. All my externals are disconnected. Being paranoid that I am about hackers and theft of data...... its the only way I can deal with it. If I wanna get into it, I just plug in the tips and pull'em out when I've got what I need. What you have so eloquently pointed out here, biker, I have to admit I should've already known. But I'm glad it came from you, because you've said it sooo much better. twenty years ago or less I'd have settled this thing with my fists. And although in my present condition that option is now history, it burns, burns, burns to be stripped of that action when faced with this kind of situation. On a more positive note ...... Congrats. on your forthcoming SS check. Did you hold off 'till age 65 or, like me, couldn't wait and regrettably opted for the lesser sum. You know, while reading about your wise choice having saved and put away for this time in your life ... and now with your added SS income to boost your spending ability, and at the same time insure a feel-good independence, thus a quality of life envied by those growing up with you who took the opposite route .....contrarily must live out his waning years doing without. With the indoctrination from a loving and wise mother who taught and convinced me to follow the kind of path I'm assuming you've keenly adhered to, I'm here to say it paid off. Thanks, JB, and you too, Pat362 for bringing this to my attention .... It always warms my heart when told by somebody, some comment, somehow, somewhere, I made to somebody, in some way, to some degree, for something I've made some effort, in some part, to get some feedback. Tell me JB, Was there any particular "sarcasm" in this case you were referring to? Because what you're giving me credit for might've simply been inadvertently presented with absolutely no real sarcasm intent at all. Of course I won't tell you that. Because for those quips that do work, just makes me try harder the next time. Admittedly, nothing lights my fire any more than being the source of genuine laughter. That's one reason I love this place and the gang who frequent it. We all make each other laugh and we let it be known. BTW .... I fully and completely share khan's response to that awesome cartoon you posted. I mean, nothing/anywhere could be more apropos and fit the intent with verse and illustrating than what you so brilliantly posted on #7. Thanks all for your kind support. Already having to deal with a myriad of crippling health problems, the last of which is a recently botched cervical surgery that's kept me in a rigid and bulky neck collar, extending all the way up the rear of my head .....almost completely immobilizing my ability to turn my head in any direction. Its been on for ten months .....and that's not the worse of it. It stays on; and I'm warned never to take it off (except for only 30 minutes to bathe) And from the looks of things, there's a sad chance I'll have to go back for correctional surgery .... this time removing an even greater section of my spine. The surgeon makes no bones (excuse the pun) about the aftermath of such being considerably more difficult than the previous one. That surgery, by the way, left me with a life-threating double blood clot, a malady that could any day flake off sending fragments to areas that would cause instant death. Now, I'd like to use all the above citing trauma and accompanying mental disorientation as an excuse for my juvenile behavior resulting from, and in the wake of this unfortunate encounter, certainly one that now has me riddled with guilt over the toll its likely taken on this site. But that is patently unacceptable. Accordingly, I wouldn't blame Khan if he simply booted my ass into the furthest orbit in our galaxy. finally, All the prescriptions in the world coming together yielding its maximum effect, couldn't begin to equal the serine impact of camaraderie that I feel toward the friends I have right here ......excuse me, but I think I'm on my second box of tissues. | |

Dear Santa ........ Jus' wanted to bring to your attention that its been a long time since you left me anything at this, your special time of the year when "giving" is paramount. My age, you might ask? Well, I'm way up there, but its no secret not only have I been clinically diagnosed, but socially confirmed by having it yelled in my face from people who're supposed to be close to me "that I have the mind of a two-year-old." You're right, turbo, Military selects were at the operational helm at the time I went in. But I suppose you'll also be surprised to know that actually MOST of the personal working in those silos WERE non-military. Examples included union providers for trades such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc,. In my case, for example, I was there under the auspices of the Wackenhut Corporation -- Commercial providers for anything almost that had to do with policing and guardianship. Needless to say, only the utmost and strictest of clearance was initiated for such assignments. As far as "stressful" is concerned, it certainly didn't apply to me. Boredom would closer fit the bill. Although reading and sleeping on duty was a firing offence if caught, I'd still frequently fall asleep from heavy eyelids giving way to dreamland. Being stationed high atop the missile's hull, in a small isolated confinement, gave me that advantage because I could hear'em coming even while dozing or napping (assuming there's a difference) From quote ..... I might add there's a smorgasbord unknowing about stuff like the aforementioned occurring in my past, you then have my invitation to pull up a chair, grab a beer, pull out antennas and tune into station WYHT (wait'll you hear this) True story ..... Although I share some of your concern, I don't see the Pharmaceutical industry workin' overtime at the labs to find a cure. I'm certainly not convinced this bug is anywhere near the threat posed by Aids ... as this writer grimly seems to project in his short article. Until adequate tests are given ample time to prove conclusively that this new strain actually is proven antibiotically resistant, then I don't think its time to rush out and put a wad of saving into the condom stock market. An exceptionally informative piece of info, JB ..... Unfortunately for me it arrived too late..... the fox has already raided the henhouse. Having bought an external storage unit about four yrs ago, with a supposed ultimate inscription feature offering a capacity of near two terabytes, on the assumption my data was safe, I went about stuffing everything I could muster into it, after which created a password, locking it with what I thought an impenetrable inscription. Boy! .... did that notion ever come up short on careful and long on dumb ........ exemplifying actually beckoning cyber invaders in to help themselves. Not only were massive numbers of files stolen, but I found myself locked out of others without permission to get inside my folders. Based on similar and convincing activity going on all around my operating system, I'm completely convinced now, as evidence is clearly telling me, that my administrative powers have not only been stripped from me, but is taken over and run by another entity. Hell, I'm even finding much of my stuff inaccessible anymore unless I give a password I never created. Because of my deteriorating health, earlier this year I was forced to leave my inland home settling where I'd be closer to family and live in smaller quarters back at the beach. One of the major consequences of that, of course, was the loss of my trusty Computer guy..... whom I could depend on to keep my electronic baby squeaky clean of sundry vermin.  | |

If any of the stuff that I pour into polls, reviews and this forum on a regular basis makes complete sense to anybody, then I'd have to say he should be a tad worried. I think I've confessed to our Fork-wielding-horned #666 in another post that rolling over the 80 year mark, subsequently living with abundant wear-an-tear and eroding health issues, has among other things took a toll on my ability to even form a simple declarative sentence anymore. Yo, Thedebilman666, Nobody knows any better than myself that I sometimes go off the loose end with some of my fractured verbiage. I lately seem to have great difficulty anymore just simply assembling my thoughts to include a simple declarative sentence. I have nouns, verbs and prepositions bouncing off the wall. I say that because, after reviewing my recent fragmented posts, that one could easily take it all the wrong way, hence now feeling deservingly compelled to commend you for holding your tongue, as well as being really, really overall nice about it. Ever thought of sending a sample of your stuff to whatever shows you think could use it. A simple search on an accommodating browser ought to open the right doors. Then there's always hungry agents who have direct lines to wherever taps into one's specialty. Years ago I sent in to The Jonny Carson Show a lengthy , and what I perceived, a funny response to one of his dialogues. They shot a reply right back commending my input and welcoming any further, esp. broader sample of somewhat that's on the same theme. Whether that was something, had I enthusiastically jumped on it with all-fours, that might've set in motion an opportunity to at least get me a paid visit to New York or California, is something I'll never know ..... because I'm inherently lazy and wasn't the first time I let such a priceless opportunity slide through my fingers. Oh! and there's always Oprah Winfrey. She's made a lot of would-be's a to-be. | |

You might be interested to know, 666, that I got into a little diatribe about some of your stuff that's kept this dumbass thread alive and kicking like a mule, while chatting with a good friend of mine who, incidentally, owns and operates a popular Comedy Club here. I don't drink, but have obtained a respectable following of admirers who come to hear me sing. Not in the pro ranks, mind you, but one of the featured karaoke instruments who show up on selected nights ..... that is, when my battered health condition permits. Lotta big names of comedy, most having performed on late-night shows (Carson and Letterman) have done gigs at her club. Interestingly, occasional numbers of has-beens are also oftentimes known to beating a path her place. . Anyway, having told her about your talent for dispensing rapid-fire barbs at celebrity and would-be adversaries, she told me she'd consider giving you a shot on stage. Who knows??? Sorry, Turbo, but try as I may, I'm not getting the point to your latter post ending. But if its saying I'm associating body-ornamentation to criminal behavior, then I cannot stress too strongly my ambiguities on the matter one way or the other. What I intended to convey (in part) was how odd it was, in broad daylight, standing in my front yard conversing with this individual, who's earlobes drooped like squeezed play-putty from the weight of jeweled metal rings, dumbbell configured nose piece, glittering small stones lining the brows, lower lip impaled under a pearl dagger, the tongue sporting another pearl insertion (a sight that makes this viewer's liver quiver) , ball cap reversed ...... generally clothed elsewhere with body pieces so bazaar it slowed traffic, (some bouncing off the curb) prompting residents tying their garbage cans to telephone poles. And there I was, in front of God and everybody, a spectacle and main neighborhood feature, for all to see and rap about over tea gatherings and coffee breaks. But the guy's body was sculptured like a Greek God, had the strength of a bull and a mind sharp as a surgeon's scalpel. But he didn't have the common sense to stay off the mind-benders ....... his inevitable waterloo. | |

Apart from echoing my fellow PU brethren's beautifully conveyed sentiments concerning Capn's perplexing departure, I just want to add a few words of my own. I'm still shaken by this news. Capn is one of PU's major fixtures, and one I've looked up to, and from one whom I've learned and gained invaluable knowhow on how to derive the best out of this kind of fellowship. I still can't believe he just walked away from the close ties that bind this close-nit community without a damned good reason as to why... and I would say having nothing to do with Pu's announced upcoming project. Khan is a very hard act to follow on a matter of this nature.....But because I was already into this post as his appeared ...... I'm gonna throw it in anyway. Perhaps If you can convince a respectable number of those shoppers that something or somewhere in what you're offering, just for a given time is included free -- I could be wrong but for a beginner wanting to jump-start this kind of site, juggling all his options an all, just makes sense to me, if cleverly done, should have positive sway in getting guys to reach for their wallet. I'd think Your best bet, assuming there's a wiliness on the part of webmasters who frequent this site,, might be to indirectly appeal to them, using this forum, as you have here, to hopefully gain some of the insight you're seeking. If that doesn't jell, you'd be surprised how much you can get by simply picking up the crumbs they're throwing around from time to time. You might score well by also researching PU's archives. There's a wealth of information from a helpful variety logged going back there. Lastly, one needs to have money to make money. I don't have to emphasize the important ramifications of that imperative, because by now you probably know that answer.
