I know trust votes are set up to encourage better reviews. However, how about something like that for webmasters? I think a positive vote tells everyone something and a negative one shows disapproval. Yes I am thinking of recent events. | |

RB, I am reacting to your mentioning of rules. The problem as I see it is that Khan can't make tough rules that are explicit about exactly what is unacceptable. We are in a gray area here regarding exactly what is inappropriate. Khan's other problem here is that if he cracks down on offenders, we can expect to hear from other members of the same website. This time it was three members, what would we do if it were three dozen or even a hundred? I don't see how Khan can do much here, as this is a site about opinions. Also, we can't and should not forbid or even discourage newbies from raving about a site they genuinely like. Unless someone has a better idea, we have to let anyone and everyone express opinions, even if we suspect they are shills or for some other reason will never be sincere members of PU. How they handle our questions, I hope asked tactfully, will tell all of us how to react to them. Just because Khan and company have a hard time making rules doesn't mean we have to simply stand by and accept behavior that is against what we want the site to be. I liked WG's post about the unwritten rules. Another point I feel strongly about is that we should give positive trust ratings if their reviews deserve it. Maybe some will stay and review other sites. I for one had hopes that larss might become a real PUer as he is a major contributor to freeones. We have to avoid coming across as being a closed club that others cannot join, even if they join to review and promote only one site. It is obvious that webmasters can and do come here with an agenda. Further, that is not really wrong. I think we all agree that we have to keep their input at a level that doesn't damage the integrity of PU. That being said, I see nothing wrong with responding to them or their members if they cross the line of blatant biased commercialism and/or civility. However, I have seen posts recently about preferring not to respond. If we don't, they control this site. I think we cannot let another similar situation get out of hand as this one did. If we don't support the site as well as each other, we cease to have a community here. I know most of us do not want to rehash recent events, but if we don't discuss this topic now, will we do it in the middle of the next controversy? I propose polite questioning of what seems to be shills and let them act immaturely if they want to. If they do, we MUST support each other. Yes? | |

Dear 350Z, I gave you a trust rating and thought your review was well done. Arguing the merits of a site is fine, hitting below the belt is not. Even if you don't like what someone said, in this case exotics, doesn't make it okay to say something that is overly personal. As for myself, I don't care if you or anyone else likes HB's site, likes her, or flirts with her. It just is none of my business. However, I know exotics from his posts and reviews here. I am positive all of his reviews are from sites he has joined and every review reflects his own true feelings. He has a postive outlook on porn sites, so he gives high scores. That is it, period. You may not care about getting respect from me, but are losing mine. I have reviewed 141 sites and my reviews are most definitely reflective of my own opinions. My scores are all over the place and average about 75. I further suggest that if you want to get PUers to respect your opinions, you either review a few other sites that you have been a member of or post comments about them. You have read others post recently that they have doubts about the sincerity of new reviewers coming to PU, reviewing only site, and then giving scores over 90. Larss, I trust your review to be about your true feelings and gave you a trust vote. I think you would be a good candidate for an interview as you have contributed a lot at freeones and now here. I don't think you have anything to hide. I want to know about jokes about PU, not about flirting between you and MH. Please don't overreact as we have more than enough already. In case you are unaware, Exotics is very low keyed and never gets involved in anything petty or negative and always has a postive attitude towards everything. Just the fact that he looked at twitter tells me something significant. | |

Hi Ed, A while back I wrote a review of your site and didn't really care for it all that much. While that is how I feel quite honestly, I do like that you have participated and contributed to PU. I would prefer to have given you a higher score after how nice you have been on PU. I feel conflicted as I feel you are an asset to PU and thank you for your contributions and insights. I proposed the three webmasters and thought I was being polite by including MH. If others, including Khan, feel this is not appropriate at this time, I definitely agree. No argument from me. PU is for users, not blatant commercialism. I agree with RB about snide comments too. I did not appreciate being described, as well as other PUers, as testosterone engorged. The meaning was quite clear. We have rules here as well as expect politeness even if we disagree. On the other topic, I was suggesting both turboshaft and larss as interview subjects. That is up to Khan and company to do as they please, only a suggestion. | |

Sounds very typical of kitten behavior. I have three cats but they are all close to ten years old. They don't do much now, but when they were younger! Car wrestling, cat gymnastics, non stop every day. Very entertaining to watch. | |

As is always the way, when I was looking for something else I found that Oprah's magazine website has several articles about women and their attitudes towards porn. It advises women that watching porn is a kind of foreplay that will keep them focused and not get distracted during sex. Great idea that works for me. Check it out, especially if your woman argues that women don't watch porn. | |

I have been deliberately hanging back on this thread. I agree with Ruck that it is a good idea to improve TBP reviews, but I seldom care what they say. Honestly, I feel that the best reviews are written by those of us who care about a site one way or another. Most TBP reviews sound mechanical and uninvolved and read like a checklist. I am sure we all have favorite reviewers who we feel comfortable with. I for one trust Denner and Drooler's opinions the most, although they are not the only ones I would say that about. As far as the fab four of TBP, they are not on the list in my opinion. I am glad we have them as regards site facts, but to me their opinions are quite irrelevant. I do like the idea of guest reviewers though. Variety is the spice of life. | |

GCode, Thanks for the nice mention of credit for the meatloaf. If it breaks, it probably is due to not enough bread soaked in milk, or even not using an egg. As if that is not enough to think about, if you mix them in, you must make sure it is mixed enough. If you overly handle the loaf mixture you get rock hard results. Great for porn, but terrible meatloaf. | |

Hey Squirrel, I agree that there are too many scores in the 90's, but I think there is no other way. How people feel is how they feel. I would not overhaul the review system either. The score represents a total overall impression that summarizes all the individual pros and cons. We need that and we need opinions. By the way, I thought that maybe I have been too hard on a lot of sites when I review, but you may have a point. It may be that too many of us give higher scores than are actually deserved. | |
