Hey messmer - It might have about as much impact as the ones and twos, but maybe you could back up the votes with emails to the webmasters, expressing your disdain for their choice of models - and how it will affect the chances of your staying on, or rejoining their site in the future. That made me suddenly realize that solid state drives now cost about the same as IDE drives cost when I first started building computers - somewhere near 2000-2001. I sure hope it doesn't take another 10+ years for SSD capacities to get to where they are now with SATA drives. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

I wish they'd care about your votes because we're definitely not the only ones who despise the plastic. Personally, I do my best to avoid sites that feature massive amounts of body modifications - fake tits, huge tattoos and tons of piercings. I don't see anyone changing the trend either. I think porn is now geared towards the younger crowd. Major tats and piercings are their expressions of individuality for their generation. So, in their minds, they're not an issue. As far as fake tits go, and from the few conversations I've had in the 3D world on the subject, I think one line stands out in my mind that wraps it up very well. A 24-year-old co-worker once told me, "I don't care how they got big, I just like 'em big!" So they'll keep paying for whatever crap is put out (cough Brazzers cough), and the sites will keep churning it out. That's why I'm ever so grateful that there are still a few sites that aren't riddled with the body mods. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity. Edited on Feb 24, 2012, 07:07pm

Unfortunately, as long as people keep signing up and the money is rolling in, I'm pretty sure that most sites will figure that that's "comment enough". Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

I've never really used the actual Excel, just the OpenOffice version that's called Calc. But I think it's safe to assume that Excel has the same ability to create links in each cell. With a cell highlighted, I go to the top of the window and click 'Insert', then 'Hyperlink' from the dropdown menu. It opens a box where I enter the path to the file or folder I want to link to and the title I want to display. Click 'OK' and that cell will now open whatever file for folder I've specified. For a more detailed example, I'll go to the mainstream side of things. I have spreadsheets for movies by year and movies by actor. For the years, I have the column headers listing the years. <1940, 1940, 1941... up to the present. For the actors, the headers list the actors' names alphabetically. On both, each cell links to the actual file on one of my drives. I also put notes on some cells with comments like Director's Cut, With Alternate Ending, Quality = X, etc. The only drawback I've run into in doing things this way is the same problem I'd get with any shortcut. If the drive letters, folders or file names are changed in any way, the shortcuts to those files are then dead. When I built a new computer last year, I had to change some of the drive letters on the new system to match the configuration of my old computer. But, even that presented a problem. The new PC has fewer but larger drives. I had to move files to a different lettered drive. That forced me to fix a lot of links! Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity. Since there aren't too many current sites that appeal to me, I'm more or less relegated to going through my collection quite often. So, no, I really don't overlook much. And I think I've taken that shortcut idea to a new limit. I've created a few spreadsheets with the links to different categories - favorite models, favorite niches, different body types, etc. For those who might like the idea but don't relish the thought of shelling out a lot of cash for a Micro$haft's Excel, OpenOffice.org will get you there for free! I overlooked the word 'home' in his description. I do seem to recall seeing a series that, for some odd reason, starts every episode with the camera looking down on a pair of shoes but I can't remember who did them. I'm from the VHS (and before) era. The first porn flicks I'd ever seen were on the good ol' 8mm projector or a reel-to-reel video tape recorder. Obviously, by today's standards, the quality was pretty bad. So, as much as I love hi-def video, as long as it's not too pixelated, I can deal with "less than crystal clear" with older files. I have stuff from the mid-90s that I hope I'll never lose. All that to say, if you like the scene, why delete it? If nothing else, there's the nostalgia factor. But, I definitely have to add that when sites offer video that looks like 1990 in 2012, it pisses me off big time! Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

Cleveland Browns fans packed their stadium for years. Not just sold out, but actually filled all the seats and backed their team. So, when Cleveland lost their team to Big Money and they came here to become the Ravens, I figured out that N.F.L. stands for No Fan Loyalty. From then on, I decided not to support the game in anyway. I'd been a die-hard Redskins fan for years but simply stopped watching the game... Sold probably $2000 worth of Redskins merchandise for a few bucks and took my interests elsewhere. So... It's now the weekend and still too cold for fishing from the canoe. Time to go link hopping on the 'Net, looking for whatever I can find. If I had to pick a team, however, I'll say I hope the Pats win - just to watch one particularly loud-mouthed Giants fan I've had to listen to start crying and making excuses for why they lost. I see small, tasteful tattoos as tolerable. But nipple and clit piercings, tramp stamps and other massive tattoos I think have ruined the looks of far too many otherwise good looking women. I've lost track of the number of videos and picture sets I've not bothered to save while thinking, "Damn - why did she have to go and do that to herself?" For those who like the idea of headphones but don't like that feeling of isolation, I recommend getting what's called vertical in-ear headphones. They don't shut out the outside world like cups and earbuds do. They're very lightweight, and still allow you to hear things around you. While I wouldn't call them audiophile quality, for the price I paid (~$20), they sound surprisingly good. The fold up style also makes for a nice portable package when paired with an mp3 player. One of the reasons I keep that ancient technology is because it doesn't drop calls - at least not as much as all the so-called smart phones around me. All I keep hearing is how the new phones are messing up. My boss tried for a month to get me to upgrade so he can text me. (To keep it cheap and because I think it's stupid, I don't even have texting on my plan.) He stopped bugging me last week when his phone crapped out - the same week a co-worker's phone went belly up. I like my dinosaur. It makes and receives phone calls. LOL Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

Another good point! I do keep some files online - mostly programs I've paid for and would hate to lose. I just put 'em in encrypted zip files with file names that further hide their contents.
That's scary - I've had the same kind of thoughts for years. Just substitute Wyoming for Montana and add an electrified fence outside the wall. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

I've had two - both died within two months. But, if this is anything like any other forum where they discuss hard drives, you'll get people on both sides of the fence. Some will love a brand/model, some won't.
Online storage isn't the best solution for people with bandwidth caps. If I had a catastrophic drive failure on a heavily loaded 2 TB drive and had to download everything back to a new drive, I'd have to stop downloading anything else for about 7 months. To me, the best options are either setting up a RAID array or simply start regular copying of important files to drives that stay offline. I use the second method. I just lost a 1.5 gig and all I had to do was copy the files back from the externals. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

Personally, I like spam. It's how I've found out that I've got 25,000,000 waiting for me in Nigeria. It also gives me something to do while trying to figure out what things like "Mama's bottle is hot for chastity" mean.
I agree with the last part about keeping porn from the wrong eyes, but I don't discount the idea of some porn producers adding to the spam problem. From time to time, I still get e-mails from sites I'd joined years ago even though I've clicked on their unsubscribe link, sometimes more than once. I can easily imagine that someone ignoring such a request would also sell my legitimate e-mail address to the spammers. As far as the Fed getting involved goes, I don't think I have to remind anyone that the Internet isn't controlled by the United States. While we might be able to clean up our part of the mess, that still doesn't fix the big picture. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

I'll cast my vote for FigureBaby. I'm not primarily a picture fan but, of all the photography sites I've joined, this is the one that really held my interest the most. As a die hard amateur fan, I'm looking for the down-to-earth, girl-next-door types and most pic sites just don't seem to have 'em. It doesn't hurt that the TBP discount makes it a cheap join right now! Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

Your prediction about the demise of the gonzo style interests me. Do you really think it's on the way out? If so, what have you seen that makes you think so? Gonzo is why I'm basically stuck with amateurs (not really unhappily). I just don't see an end to the cheap production "values" it employs. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

You're very welcome! And you really don't have to know what a checksum is. In simple terms, it's used to determine the integrity of a file by calculating the amount of data in it. Clonespy just compares all the data in each of the files you scan and, coming up with a match, allows you to check which one(s) you want to delete. From the Clonespy site: CloneSpy comes with a HTML help file. Just press F1 after starting the program to view it. Please read the help file before using CloneSpy. Otherwise you might easily kill your system. Don't let the warning of it killing your system scare you away. By default, it's set up to ignore system files like drivers and exe files. The only way you could kill your system is to first, specify a scan of a folder with critical files and then, change what they call a mask that overrides the program's ignoring said critical files. As long as you're scanning folders or drives that only contain media you've downloaded, the worst thing that could happen is marking both files in a match for deletion. It's a simple matter to make sure you only click on one file in each match. I would recommend reading the help files and figure out how to set masks for only the file types you want to scan for. As examples, I have a mask that scans only for mp3 and wav files when scanning for audio files, and avi, asf, asx, avi, mp4, mpg, mpeg, divx, mov, rm, and wmv file types for video. It's also easiest to set the program to display all the files in a list when the scan is done. Otherwise you have to pay attention to it while it runs because it will put up matches as it finds them. If you set it to display a list at the end of the scan, you can do something else and just come back to a list where you can check off the files you don't want and delete them all at once. Clonespy A great duplicate file finder, with the ability to apply masks to limit your searches to specific file types. I've lost track of how much drive space that app has saved me over the years.
Not a problem at all with Clonespy. It compares checksums, so how a file is named is inconsequential. You can scan across multiple drives, too. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity. Edited on Dec 29, 2010, 06:53pm

I just always figured it was something in their culture that led to the law. But, when comparing it to the arcane and antiquated sex laws still on the books here in the U.S., I'd have to say that no, it probably wouldn't be inappropriate for their law to change.
Like I said, I think it was a Japanese thing. I read the book probably 15 or more years ago and don't remember. If I wasn't blowing tons of cash I don't have on computer parts right now, I'd probably go to Amazon and buy the book. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

You always thought right - 'til your vision blurred and you thought you saw more than two fingers. Make no mistake - that's both hands flipping the bird. Because it's both hands, it's known as, among other things, the double barrel salute, the double deuce or the dirty double. A brief history of it's use and effects in some legal systems can be seen here. Oh - and getting back to my getting my computer together over the last weekend, that was a bust. I certainly don't like the mosaic but, at the same time, I'm aware that different cultures have different thoughts on what is and what isn't appropriate in different situations. That's not limited to porn. Get your hands on a copy of the book called "Kiss, Bow or Shake Hands". (I know Amazon carries it.) The book was written, aimed at corporate representatives who deal in international trade, but I think just about anybody would find it interesting. There are things that you probably wouldn't take notice of that other people find repulsive. I'm not sure if it was, as it happens, another Japanese "issue", but I remember reading that blowing your nose into a Kleenex and putting in your pocket is a big no-no somewhere in the world. In any case, it was interesting read. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

No, it won't help this time, but maybe you can take some advice from someone who's been active for years on several forums and in chatrooms. This is the Internet, so the personage you speak of can only come from the words you've put online. If you're comfortable enough to tell us things like you put beastiality on the same level as human anal intercourse, I don't understand how you could be so offended when someone takes notice of it and turns it into a bit of satire.
If you feel that people don't know you well enough to react to things you say, I would recommend following my lead. I've found it best not to start, or get into, discussions that divulge - or could even be construed as divulging - anything of a deeply personal nature. For example, I make it a point of not responding to polls or threads that get into what I consider deeply personal issues - like your recent poll question regarding "morning wood". I just feel that anything about sexual preferences or idiosyncrasies, beyond things like, "I'm a breast man" or, "I like long hair", shouldn't be made public. Call it self-censorship, if you will. Just as though this were the real world and we were all sitting together somewhere, what you say and do will get a reaction - and it's not always what you'd expect. A guy goes to his doctor for a physical. After all is said and done, he gets the news. "You're in perfect health," the doctor says, "except you've got the dirtiest balls I've ever seen." The guy says, "I think I know what the problem is." He goes home and, walking in the front door, sees his wife running up the stairs. "Helen!", he yells. "Come here - I want to talk to you!" "I don't have time for that right now!" she yells back. "I hardly have time to wipe my ass!" "That's what I want to talk to you about!" Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

So far, three people have responded in agreement to Denner's disdain for tattoos - now I'm adding a fourth. And we're all around 50*. Coincidence? I don't think so. I do think tattoos are, for the most part, another generational preference - like the shaved vs. natural debate. *Editted to put Denner's age back where it belongs - Sorry, Denner! :laughs: Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity. You must have me confused with someone else. I say, "Rage on! We're drowning in a world of complacency and apathy. Speak out when you feel the need". Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity. Edited on Nov 13, 2010, 09:18pm

I'd say it's more likely an underpowered CPU and/or not enough memory. I have files that won't play on my laptop but played just fine on my (now defunct) desktop. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

My PC is set up as an entertainment center - all my video and music just a few keystrokes away. So, rather going through the hassle of burning files to DVD, hoping whatever program you use burns them right and amassing a huge collection of discs that need categorizing and shelf space, I'd say take one of two other options. Either set up a PC dedicated to playing video right from a hard drive or get the hardware that streams video from your PC to your television. The initial cost might be higher, but, in the long run, I think it would save a lot of the aforementioned aggravation and shelf space. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

For me, huge video file sizes are almost a must. I think I re-encode more than half of what I download so as to chop out the stuff I don't want to see in a scene. Anytime you re-encode a file, there's some loss of quality, so starting with the best picture I can get means megs - and lots of 'em! The same goes for pictures, even though the loss of quality when cropping isn't as obvious as it is with video. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.
