Glad you asked. I'd looked at the raffle deal from time to time, but it always looked too complicated and potentially annoying (spam, etc.). But thanks to this poll, I had another look and signed up for the Amazon option.

E-Gold is a company that deals in digital gold. Virtual gold as it were. They have a lot of real gold to back it up. To turn it into cash, you must sell your gold to someone who will buy it.

Sounds like a wonderful concept, although it would help if we were more accustomed to a 19th-century lifestyle.

Really, typical so its not real money, what can you do with it. I thought I'd won 50 dollars when I won, I'm from the UK so the ebay and amazon stuff doesn't work for outside the UK. maybe paypal would be better

Just done a little bit more research on e-gold and not sure if this is right but they have listed some exchanges that you sign up for and can have the gold turned into real cash for your country. Thats ok if thats the case, be interested to have a PU staff member chip in and explain if I'm wrong.

As usual jd knows whats going on.
Me - ignorant, I guess - still do not know what this is about. What's "digital gold"?
I can turn my gold into cash? I did'nt know I had any gold.
Again if jd would give me a second hint, I'd be glad....

I'm big into E-Bay. E- Bay is where I do all my online shopping when I have money.

My mistake
Like Johnny Paycheck states:
"Must have been drunk...."
I get the picture now, so JD - do not bother.

Hey guys, here's some info since this was brought up...
E-Gold has been a reliable means of worldwide currency exchange for over 10 years now. Although they've had some legal issues that has slightly fractured how E-Gold does business, the currency is still alive and kickin.
The best way to understand what E-Gold is and how it works is to visit the wikipedia page here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-gold
It's important everyone understands how E-Gold works prior to choosing this option. The reason why we use it as an option is due to it's worldwide compatibility. Ebay and Amazon gift certificates cannot be redemmed in most countries outside the USA.
One other note, Paypal was obviously our first choice, but they wouldn't approve the use of their virtual cash option since we're an adult web-site. Pretty upsetting seeing that these are simply cash prizes, but we ran it by them and they denied us.

Yes, I think that's kind of prudish of them. You know, and to my surprise, today the CBS morning show (around 9:30 EST) used the writer's strike (which threatens the Oscars) as an excuse to run a lengthy report on the AVN Awards. They had interviews with Jenna Jameson, Tera Patrick, Ron Jeremy, etc. I saw Daisy Marie, etc. It was almost "racy."
Of course the point is that porn is society's dirty little open secret, but that attitude is slowing breaking down. PayPal ought to rethink such decisions.

Here's the strange part: Paypal is an entity of Ebay, and Ebay accepts the prizes here which is routed through Paypal???? When i use the Ebay certificate I won, it takes me directly to my Paypal account to use it!

REPLY TO #8 - Denner :
E-Gold has physical gold. When you own E-Gold, you virtually own some of their gold. However, they will not send you that gold, but it is yours. Since gold is real money, theoretically it can be spent anywhere, however, Ebay will ban you if you use it. The brokers available, if you can find them, and are comfortable with giving them your banking information, will buy it for cash, but at a price. E-Gold is also under indictment from the US Dept of Justice on allegations of money laundering, particulary for child porn sites. E-Gold denies the charges.

You can sell porn on Ebay, but they don't allow Paypal to be used. Recently though, I sold some old porn magazines, and the buyer told me Paypal wouldn't mind and paid me with it, but I still can't use paypal as a billing option, so...who knows?

I've been signed up from day 1 and have always used the Amazon option, just because of their wide range of items available. I rarely if ever have trouble finding things I need, not just things I want, at Amazon.
