Anybody had this problem on VB?

I am a pretty regular member at VB, probably 3-4 months out of every year, but on my current subscription there, I am having a lot of trouble with downloads.

Probably half of my downloads stop halfway through downloading and the error, "Could not read source file, contact administrator" comes up. So, I have to refresh the download and start over. I'm not for sure if they are limiting connections as I usually have 6-8 going at a time. Which I wouldn't mind if they are limiting connections, but would like to know in advance so I don't waste time downloading too many at a time, only to have to start over.

Oh and everything else is going fine on VB. They are starting to get more and more of the "tier A" studio DVDs.

badandy400 (0) I have not had this issue, but I have had issues getting connections with them lately. Not really sure what is going on.

They previously have not limited the number of connections. So if there are is it is something pretty new. When I download form them, which is usually about 18 hours per day every day while I am away or sleeping, I am using 5 and occasionally 6 connections and never had any issues with them limiting it.

My relatively new issue is with queuing up files to download. i click the file and usually half a second later the file is ready to go, but lately there are times where I can hardly do anything. i click the file and i wait sometimes up to a full minute for the file to come through, and it is in error anyway because my manager forces it through.

You should not need to start the downloads over. Even downloads that are a week or so old can be resumed if you update the source. The only time I actually have to start over is if I stop a file and let it go for a month or so, then I can not resume.

Tree Rodent (0) I've had very slow downloads around midday EST lasting for several hours. Happens like that virtually every day I have tried to download. Speed sometimes down to 10kb/sec. Then it starts to pick up around 7pm EST. Don't know why.

uscue (0) Never had that problem...I can say that today (Sunday) the downloads were slow. First time I've encountered that really and been a member for months.

Tree Rodent (0) I now find I am having the problem as described. My downloads are still ridiculously slow too, even when only downloading one file at a time.

I switched over to using Free Download Manager, and it fixed the problem. I had been just using the Firefox download manager. FDM hasn't had one error and is getting right at 100% speed for me. I have a 10 M connection, so my top speed will run at around 1,200 kb/s. Running two downloads at the same time in FDM, keeps a steady 600 kb/s on each one.

Cheers! I think I may try one. What's the best one? I think you can pick up viruses from some of them.

Hey The Squirrel,

I use Free Download Manager, looks like they would have gotten a more definitive name since it just sounds like someone is saying a free download manager!

You can get it below. It has an option in it to scan for viruses. I've used it off and on for probably 3-4 years now, and have never had any signs of viruses from it. The company that owns it is a pretty reputable one. It doesn't even have ads on it like most download managers do.
