Being 24 I am way outside the limits. I started looking at porn a little young but I was not even an itch in my dad's pants yet!
I could live with soundless, I usually watch it that way anyway, but black and white would annoy a me a little. I am sure at the time that was great stuff. But, after seeing the HD stuff of today it would be a little difficult for me to go for black and white porn for the sake of getting off. However, I am sure that if I needed to I could get off on that stuff.

Soundless and black and white. Isn't that from like 1930's? Are there actually people still alive from that timeperiod?

No. I was just a kid. I remember watching Superman and The Lone Ranger in B&W on the chromatically challenged TV set. No porn, though.

That's taking it way back, the first movie to have sound was the Jazz Singer and that was made around the 1930's, doubt if anyone from that time can even use a computer, let alone hard drives, torrents and external hard drives. I'm having a hard time keeping up with all this new technology.

When I first saw porn flicks in the late 1970s, "Deep Throat", "Behind the Green Door" et al, had been out (If only in peep shows) for four or five years. But not in my one-horse town. For a lucky few in isolated hinterlands, flesh flicks were soundless short B/W 8mm tapes.

Make me feel like a real old fart but yes, I had a friend who could get his hands on some "smokers" as they were then called, with stars like Bettie Page and Candy Barr.
With the thousands of girls now doing porn there still isn't anyone that comes close to either one of those two for basic, unadulterated beauty.
And "soundless." They weren't soundless. The projectors were always rather noisy. But yes, there was no soundtrack.

I had an underground rock club for a while years ago (it was a rehearsal space we used to have shows at every once in a while) and some friends found some of that old porn stuff - and it was so amateurish and endearing in a certain way - not a turn-on sexually but oddly compelling and fun to watch - that we decided to show it behind my friends' band at the next show.
A lot of people (mainly women) were offended, which cracked me up because it was so inoffensive to me - rather innocent because it was just ordinary people going at it on cam. Oh, well - it was definitely a conversation-starter and my friends and I were quite amused by all the hubbub.

I did see a couple of 8 or 16 mm porn films when I was much younger. I can't remember the format and frankly it would not make any difference. The only thing these films had going for them is that the people appearing on them were having graphic sex. The quality was poor to bad. Of course it's quite possible that todays porn would not exist if not for those types of films.

As a kid when I was home alone I used to look through my dad's stash and there was one roll of some film, but I didn't bother with it due to all the hassle with viewing it versus the VHS tapes that were much easier.

No, and I don't mind either. Yeah, I'm spoiled by all the HD available (usually coupled with a terrible soundtrack of some sort), and I haven't even seen an actual porn film, at least not in a theater, only as they look after transfer to a DVD or uploaded to the web.
And thanks to "8mm" I really don't want to see any actual film footage...
