Tree Rodent (0) In folders by site. Thankfully I do not have so much material I have lost track of what I have on my external drives yet. It's sometimes hard to have the willpower to delete things I am unlikely to view again. The externals have not taken over - yet.

Drooler (Disabled) I choose "Rename files by model name," as that was the closest one. Actually, I have a different folder for every model. In each of those folders: by site. And in each of those, by title of gallery or vid, if there is one. If there isn't, I make one up.

But I keep videos and photos separate by the same kind of system.

How we organize our shit reflects what we value, perhaps.

And for those models who have multiple names depending on where they were last seen, I have developed a virtual agency database network to help me track them down.

lk2fireone (0) In folders by site seems to make the most sense. But I lose track of models that have different names at different sites. In the world of porn, it seems that models can change names more often than they change the color of their hair.

Denner (0) The organization can be a mess....that's it at the moment, here.
For years I've cataloged my videos and photosets after site-names - still do. But in the long run sites become less importend.
Whereas MODEL NAMES are a hit - even it's still a bugger with all those alias'.
So having four (4) different drives - 3 external and one (or rather two divided) at the PC, it's more and more difficult to keep track of your favorites (when you now and then forget to catalog each set and can spend hours searching for that special video or photoset, you suddenly remember)..

But foremost: Sites and then a name-library of 50-70 favorite models with - both videos and photosets...

But bottom line: Sure wish someone had the revelation here...

So this is a good poll - let's get some more inputs and IDEAS..

messmer (Disabled) I don't sort, I don't catalog because I like the surprise factor. :-) I do keep softer contents on one external and harder contents on the other and in-between stuff on a third. That's it.

BadMrFrosty (0) I organize in a way that some may consider as obsessive–compulsive, I should really have added a "all of the above" option to the poll.

First I download and organize the files into a folder based on the site name, then the episode with a renamed file based on the model or episode name.

E.g.

\AssholeFever.com
---\2010-01-03 - Some movie name
------\some actress.wmv
---\2010-01-10 - Some movie name
------\some actress.wmv

Then I import that into a database, which takes the info from the file / folder names and also reads the media info (bitrate, resolution etc) and stores it. Once imported, I use the database to add episode descriptions, small preview image and large preview image. Also the database contains models so I assign the actress alias on the site I downloaded from to the known real name. This allows me to browse by actress no matter what alias they have.

Once I have done that, I export the images and data to a xml file in each of the videos directories. this allows me to browse my collection using Windows Media Center and the MediaBrowser plug-in which displays all of the information from the XML file and also display full screen backdrops.

Everyone needs a hobby right?

uscue (0) I used to have folders by site in addition to folders by model name before I lost that collection (and it was a HUGE collection). Now I don't categorize

Wittyguy (0) I save videos by actress name and by site. Pics are just a random mess which I prefer. I usually edit the sets down and intermix them. I guess I like the randomness of it all when I start up the slide show viewer for pics. Just doing my part in the battle against entropy.

pinkerton (0) I tend to prune out the stuff I hardly watch, or rather, I keep the stuff I watch regularly and junk the rest. For some sites I do segregate the movies into folders of the model names

pinkerton (0) Actually at one point I used to import the video filenames into a spreadsheet for each site, and then review and rate the vids and provide a brief description of the action, e.g. brun on one, stockings, BJ, cg, rev-cg, mish, doggie, anal, cia

All enough for me to understand the action but I don't bother these days as I tend to keep what I like and junk the rest. Also I don't have the time or the disk space.

GCode (0) I'm a hoarder and try to d/l a whole site. This is what I do, I start with a folder with the name of the site. Then, within that site I do two folders with one being 'P' and one being 'V'. P for pictures and V for videos. Then within each of these two folders I go alphabetically A-Z. With the Alphabetically folders, I do models names. For example, In folder 'P' then 'A', all the models that start with the letter A get put in that folder. I don't rename any of the file names because I know they are from that certain model. It can make downloading a burden, but using DownThemAll I can do it quite easily. I think most seem to stay to this kind of trend and it seems to be popular.

RagingBuddhist (Disabled) Folders by site, then video and pictures. With some sites, I have an Excel spreadsheet to break them down further into groups like Outdoors, Hardcore, Solo, Body types, etc.

I'm real anal when it comes to how it all looks - I like my titles neat and orderly. I recommend using a free app called the Bulk Rename Utility. The homepage is http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Main_Intro.php

pat362 (0) I had to pick that I don't because it's more mess than anything else. I do save some under the site name but then I'll somehow mix the content of one site with another. I'm mostly hopeless when it comes to saving porn.

turboshaft (0) Ah, what a great poll! My thinking is if you're going to have a terabyte or bigger hard drive (or even one with a few gigs) then organization is key.

While others have mentioned they like to be surprised, I don't. I want my filth and I want it now! :-) So my system is usually organized like this: Site Name>Model Name>Videos/Photos (separate folders for each model). If it's a DVD site I then organize this way: Genre>DVD title. Genre can get pretty specific, and still causes a lot of confusion but it usually works.

For my biggest and oldest site collection, ALS Scan, I did the method where there are separate video and photo folders and then separate model folders within each one--big mistake! Every time I see some photos and I want to see a corresponding video or vice versa I have to go back to the separate video or photo folder and then find the model name all over again. I have yet to reorganize it and I regret ever splitting it up this way originally so I don't recommend people do this for big collections.

apoctom (0) I use a system based on the model's name, but if anyone using a database has a suggestion, I might try that.

I usually archive videos, rather than pictures, if that makes any difference.

dracken (0) For me organizing my collection is even more fun than actually watching. I spend a great deal of time trying to keep everything organized by site, favorite model and quality of scene.

However, I would love some system that allowed you to store your porn on-line in a convenient folder system, my hdd is getting cramped
