If I am thinking of joining a site that I don't know from previous experience, I always come to PU to see what people say; and I read the reviews, even older ones, because although some informations may be outdated, it also helps to get a general idea of the site...

A lot can change in 2 years, I dont think I can really make a descision about joining a site based on outdated information.

I read everything available before I join a site. Didn't used to, but now I do...why not? It's often made the difference in my decision. Before I did it, I was too often burned by things like DRM or "bate and switch." I always check out PornUsers before I go porn surfing.

Mr F is right about outdated reviews - sometimes even 1/2 a year old reviews can be outdated.
But generally: For a site where I have not been before - or not for a long time: Of course I read PU reviews before joining....

Outdated or not, I read all the reviews for a site I haven't joined before. Even if a review has old information, you still get an idea of what's there.

REPLY TO #6 - RagingBuddhist :
That would be me as well.
I let my fellow PUers' comments guide me whenever my libido is exercised by a site that is new to me but looks appealing.
The old reviews, when followed by new reviews that tell a different (better?) story tell me whether or not the webmaster really gives a shit about improving the site or is just interested in the revenue stream from porndogs who sign up without doing any research.

I read the outdated reviews most of the time but usually to read reviews from the people I know and respect. A bunch of short reviews from one and done PUers isn't nearly as informative as an old review from someone who's been around for a while. Besides, rarely do sites change that much after a year or two.

If I'm thinking about joining a site I have not joined before, I will read the most recent PU reviews. Then, if the site looks worthwhile, I might read older reviews if available.

I always look for a review before joining a site.
I prefer if it's more recent because that is more representative of where the site is now but an old review is better than no review.

Well sometimes you have too if there aren't any new ones. And they can sometimes shed light on sites that pretend to update by recycling content.

I always read any old reviews or any information here at PU. I often don't find enough about the site, but never waste a resource that may be helpful.

yes, but as mentioned before, too much changes to really get a good opinion. Always check recent stuff.
