I haven't yet seen a site where one doesn't work so why not.

yes. Makes my life easier to queue up downloads.
I'm to the point where if a site doesn't allow them I end up not getting everything I want due to sheer laziness.

I'm a slow learner. I'm still trying to learn how to use a download manager, and trying to see which one is the easiest and most convenient to use. I use DownThemAll on some sites, but other sites apparently won't allow that program to work.

There are now a few sites that limit the number of connections, and even lock you out if you use a manager, which is a big "con" to me. If they don't work, I tend not to renew.

Now and then - earlier I used my IDM for almost all files. But most sites are getting faster and faster AND:
When I find a large vid-file (apart from .rar , .zip, .tar ect.) I skip the manager for one reason: I want to watch the vid during download (thumbs or not) - and if it's disappointing, I skip it. You can't do that with a manager, but have to wait till the entire file is finish downloading.

I almost always use the Firefox download manager, although I also have DownloadThemAll, which I've had to use a few times. Between the two of them, I've never had a serious problem downloading anything.

I use DTA with most sites but there are actually sites where it is faster just to use the built in Firefox Web Browser.

I use the DownThemAll Firefox extension followed by JDownLoader for use with download sites like FileSonic which don't work too well with DTA.
I used to use Net Transport (from Xi Soft) quite a lot but when I upgraded and found that my lifetime licence no longer worked and the vendor ignored my emails, I stopped using it and would no longer recommend it to anyone.

Depends if the website will allow it. It's important to maximize your membership time getting all the content you can

I rarely use one. If there's pics I like I'll just zip them and with movies I like to preview them a bit before I decide if I'm going to download. Most sites allow for multiple channels of downloading so you can be sucking up a few vids while previewing the next batch so in that sense I don't use a DL manager much; only if I'm really time pressed on an expiring membership.

pretty much always, and i haven't experienced many places where download managers don't work - or there is some kind of workaround to get them to work.

I've rarely felt the need for a download manager as i have a fast reliable unlimited anytime internet connection that already downloads stuff faster than i can view it. I've played around with downthemall in firefox a couple of times to see if i can find a way to download pics when zip files are not present but sadly i've not been able to figure it out.

Being the fastidious connoisseur that I am I use download managers to grab videos and bespoke tools that I have developed to grab the rest.
