Sometimes on Twitter you can find a porn star who has an Amazon wish list with various items that she would like "YOU" to buy for her.
Of course this makes no sense to me since she's making 100,000's dollars more than I am and the items she wants usually are not that expensive.

As jberryl69 said, many US porn stars post their wish lists on social networks and ask fans to buy something off it, often in exchange for undisclosed "thank you packages" (signed DVDs most likely).
The phenomenon has been mocked but it's undeniable porn stars are monetizing their social network activity better than anyone as people do buy things from those lists: watch Puba.com's Asa Akira opening gifts at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCMW577_Rx0
99% of the time they are Amazon wish lists filled with relatively inexpensive items (around 50 USD). Porn star's physical address is kept private as long as it's Amazon and not a third party who serves the item.

Didn't know these things existed. Given what some of us have spent on porn over the years wouldn't it make more sense for us to have wish lists for items porn stars could buy for us? Really, how expensive is a box of tissues :)

I've never purchased anything nor do I plan on ever doing it but I've been aware for quite some time about this practice. It seems to be more popular now with Twitter and Facebook. It must work because many performers use it. I don't see the logic in buying a performer any gifts but if a fan has the cash and doesn't mind parting with it then who cares.

No way. I'm half amused and half pissed off that these women are asking for gifts from fans and that some are actually sending them.
I waste time and money for porn because I'm sick. If I'm feeling charitable I'll help out a person who actually needs it.

Can't really say I even know what this is. But that's probably b/c I don't watch much "mainstream" porn involving big name stars. Even if I did know what a "porn star wish list" is, I probably wouldn't buy such a thing anyway. Sounds like another shabby marketing scheme to me.

Since I follow a few stars on Twitter, I see a lot of this type of stuff, but one of the most interesting is the Twitter of Harmony Rose, who rants at people about her NOT BEING IN PORN any more and wondering why stupid people don't get that and the next Twit is asking if anyone wants to buy underwear, clothes and autographed DVDs she wants to sell.
I asked her how she expects people to think she's out of the business when she keeps one foot in it. I use to like her vids, but she is such a boorish Twitterer ranting about vegan food and animal rights and then about her trip to NY where she fucks the world. I just had to stop following her.
I suppose some people do buy these gifts in an attempt to be recognized by the favorite stars but seriously we've been supporting them in high style for years just so they can waste themselves on fast cars and good drugs.
There is nothing to be said for mental midgets. And like I said at the beginning of this msg, Wittyguy nailed it!

I believe buying used clothes from an adult model should fall into a different category, even if they are in exchange for some item from her wish list. Buying clothes would cater to a clothing fetish but it wouldn't make sense if guys who bought off wish lists were doing so because of the signed DVD, picture or magazine the porn star might send in return.
I can't help but think this wish list phenomenon is a postmodern version of what is shown in movies depicting the beginning of the 20th century where guys happily buy showgirls all sort of things and never get laid in exchange.

Mindy Vega (Cuban-American) used to model in lingerie that fans would send in to her site. So did Sanja Matice (Austrian), to hers. Maybe there were others; I don't recall. Linda O'Neil, perhaps?
I can see how a guy might be thrilled to see a model he likes actually posing on her website in frilly garments that he bought her and posting "Thanks, Clyde, for the lovely pink teddy!" And she takes them all off, too.
I don't think it has anything to do with being charitable, btw. If you want to give to those in need, stop subscribing to porn sites and forward to the proceeds to the organization of your choice.

To me this makes absolutely no sense. No way ever would I buy gifts for a pornstar. I may appreciate her work, but if I don't give gifts to others I also appreciate, why her? My female doctor is very attractive and helps me every time I visit. NO GIFT for every office visit.

Well, I'm in the "people do things that don't make any sense to me" club, too, although buying lingerie for an Internet model isn't one of those things.
However, I've never done it myself, and probably won't. Maybe if I had enough money to throw around, I could shower lovely ladies with gifts, but as things are, I can't afford such frivolousness.
