Somewhat important, at least in the beginning of membership. I don't know if tagging is considered search function but using tags is the most important search for me.

Somewhat important. It makes navigation/using the site easier. The importance of navigation depends somewhat on the size of the site. The larger the site, the more site contents, the more important it is to be able to search the site contents.
There are some sites that don't bother to name the models. That makes collecting the videos/photosets a real mess.

I'm with the 'somewhat important' crowd too. I use searching to find particular models, but I also like the ability to filter for certain themes.

It's not important to me. I find i never use the search feature as i just like to browse my way through the model index from A-Z.

It's very important to me because I've joined some sites that had no search option. All you had was a page number or pafe forward/backward. That's not a huge problem on small site because you don't have to scroll through too many pages to see all the content but when a site has been in business for many years and has many TB of content then scrolling through all the pages wopuld drive most insane.

As others have pointed out, it depends on how big the site is. I'll toss in another factor: How many models there are.
For a site like MetArt, or MetModels, or Hegre-Art, or any of the ATK sites, all of which have a huge volume of material plus tons of models, it's a must. But even sites that don't as as much as those, but have the simple chronological order click-through system, such as Alp Girls, should have a search function.
The poll answer could be selected in various ways. I chose "very important" just to make sure that the many sites that have gobs of stuff are accounted for.

Very important for me. It can be a real time & patience saver.
What I find most useful though is an alphabetical model list.

Can be a great feature. Especially with a nice, large-sized thumbnail to show what the model looks like. Plus hot links to the videos and photosets of that model.

I think it is somewhat important, although depends on the size of the site, not so important with smaller sites. I also think the model index is far more important than search.

Depends on the definition; to me, search means able to type in something, or perhaps list based on multiple criteria.
As others have said, the model index is the most useful. But I do like some facility to browse by some other criteria; eg photographer, setting (indoor/outdoor), body type etc. I find that going through the site again from a different angle often reveals stuff I wouldn't have found just from the model list.
But I haven't really joined any sites that are so big to make anything other than a model index strictly necessary.

Generally important - and for those large sites (you all know which) it's very important..

Particularly for the larger sites, a search function is very important. However, one irritating thing I've noticed is that older content on some sites does not get indexed/tagged; part of the appeal of a search function is that it is exhaustive - it is faster and better than manually combing through content. If only some of the content is indexed, then you are left wondering "are there really no hits for this term?" It's a minor thing, really, but it reflects a sense organization, but it's one of those things that makes continued membership a better experience than downloading all the content you want then cancelling the membership.

An ACCURATE search function is essential. Sites like VideoBox that are loaded with misspellings and frequently with no model identification frustrate the hell out of me.
With well over 10,000 DVDs a favorite performer is easily lost in the shuffle, and there's no easy way to find all performances by a favorite.

Very important. Mostly the date and weather video is hd or not and model names are the important ones to me.
