I'm with Cap'n. Discounts are always good.

I tend to do it the other way round, pick the sites that interest me, then see if any are discounted. if so, then I'll use it. I'd only use a discount for a site where the material interests me anyway.

Discount pricing is definitely a factor in the decision, but there are others: quality and volume. If a site doesn't offer a PU discount, I sometimes employ my own "time discount," meaning I'll bookmark the site and wait a while.

As with manholelover, I don't think a discount would put a site on my radar; but a discount on one that is would definitely bump it up my list - and has done a couple of times.
And whereas I tend to join via the TBP/PU link where possible, I also sign up for site newsletters; sometimes you'll get an email from the site itself with a discounted link, which again makes it more likely to join.

As others, I wouldn't join a site JUST because it has a discount, obviously; but if I see a site that looks good, AND it has a discount, I will probably join it.

I'd have to have some interest in the site, obviously, and the reviews here and at TBP would have to say that there are no serious problems, and then a discounted price would pretty much seal the deal.

Go for both Drooler and manholelover and their inputs in choosing sites:
Browse the sites I'd prefer and then look carefully for some kind of discount one way or the other - and then again:
A well known site, that I MAY want to go back to again - sure I look for some discounts - are we PUs conscious users or not...?

A discount is the main reason why I've recently joined a couple of sites. Since these aren't well known sites then paying 30$ for content that might be less than appealing is hard to swallow but much easier if it's 15$ to 20$.

I don't know why, since 10 or 15 dollars is a minuscule amount in my budget, but I have great trouble not falling for a "bargain."

Absolutely.
A lot more willing to take a gamble for a discount
A lot more willing to stay for a discount if I like their stuff.
If the material looks decent and in a niche I'm into, discounts only encourage.

Like others here, discounts help somewhat, but frankly a site I've never joined before better have a lot more going for it than just a coupon. In fact most 1st time subscriptions I've started are completely independent of discounts--I find a site and eventually (or sometimes immediately...) I join it, and if I like it hopefully I'll get a rejoin discount.
This is true outside of porn too. I don't use a lot of coupons at stores, like when I'm grocery shopping, because they're almost always for shit I don't need/have any interest in. Otherwise I'd have built up a nice strategic reserve of tampons and allergy medications by now. And what the hell would I have ever done with those? Lure single women over to my home: "The party's in here ladies--free Tampax and Claritin for everyone!" (Terrible way to outfit a bachelor pad, if you ask me.) : - 0

I put sites I have an interest in into the PU "my favorites" folder. When I['m ready for a new site to join, I'll check out up to 5 sites then check the PU/TBP listing for the one(s) that offer a discount at that time.
I don't think I've signed up for any sites over the last 5 years that did not have some kind of deal.

Yes i'm much more likely to join a site which offers a discount, not only a TBP/PU discount but in some cases recently the sites themselves offering reduced sale/promo prices such as Breath Takers and Petites Parisiennes. It would still have to be a site i'm interested in though in the solo softcore glamour/nude art niche, i wouldn't join any old site just because its cheap.

Sites contents plus no problems are most important, then how much it costs. So a discount makes a site more attractive, but the site itself has to be attractive in the first place.

It might help me resolve a this or that case but not really attract me to something I did not already consider.

Yeah. When Sites that cost like 30+ dollars and it goes on sale for 20 it usually is the deciding factor.

It would have to be really low discount, like 10 or under.
