Mostly I agree, although I find TBP reviews to be more objective where PU reviews can be a bit more subjective - which I think is a good thing.

Agree with slutty. TBP reviews are, almost by definition, objective - I suspect they have a quite well defined list of what contributes to the score in terms of updates, picture quality, size of archive etc.
Which is a good thing, and leaves subjective reviews - focusing more on the content - to us at PU. I've subscribed to a couple of sites which would get a bad TBP review because they are, well, disastrous :) but I've still enjoyed them because the material is up my street. The same applies in reverse; some top TBP sites wouldn't appeal to me at all, since I'm not interested in the material.

I like their official review and I agree with you that they are objective. I suspect they have a check list and they use that to base their score.
The one thing that is better at PU than TBP is in regards to sites with leased content or older material. I don't know if TBP doesn't use those two things when making a review but I often find sites that get a decent score and they are filled with leased content or older content.

Usually find I am at odds with their views as largely they are video enthusiasts where as I favour photos.

TBP reviews are useful for the "facts" about a site. But at least some PU reviews are more useful for giving the "flavor" of a site. So both sites can be useful or helpful in deciding whether to join a site or not.

I agree with all of the above. I always read both the TBP review and any PU reviews and comments before subscribing to a site. I rely on TBP for a lot of technical details and any warnings that might be useful. But I also rely on their reviews. They tend to be more objective and that's a good thing since many PU reviews are more subjective. Add the two together and you can get an excellent idea of what a site is like.

Sometimes I do, sometimes not. I'm here more for the user reviews as I tend to find they agree more with me once I get to know little what the reviewer likes and what not. TBP reviews are the best for checking hard facts but generally they seem to give more average ratings when users give higher or lower scores.

Good inputs above - and mostly, I agree...bottom line: Reviews got to be subjective even for TBP...it's people making them.
BUT: One thing that - now and then - is a serious slip in TBP reviews are the statement: Exclusive - when not..

I usually agree with their reviews but enjoy reading the PU reviews more and usually refer to TBP for site facts more than anything else if the reviews here are a little light on stats.

Sometimes I agree, and sometimes I don't, but that's understandable and not really different from PU reviews as far as whether I agree with the opinion. But it's really nice that TBP provides so much more in the way of detailed info than it used to so I can make a more informed decision. And that's what counts.

TBP reviews are near useless.
