There's no way I will ever join any site without seeing a review. I've been burned by some that had mediocre or worse reviews where I still joined so there's no way I'll ever go in blind.

By anywhere, do you just mean here, or anywhere on the internet?
For me, the answer is yes in both cases, as long as I feel I can trust the people that are running the site (usually because I've come in contact with them online before).

Yup. Several times. Somebody's gotta give new sites a chance, and sometimes it takes professional reviewers years to get to sites in the smaller niches.

Never so far. Luckily I found this site and some others before I joined my first pay site.
I could join a new site from a trusted company though.

Have I ever been stupid in my life?
Eh.....yes, often, in the past.
Am I improving and being more careful as I get older?
I sure hope so.

I've only joined a couple that didn't have any reviews and they were decent for the most part but I have also gotten so badly burned with some that I am very cautious these days.

Sure, several times before I found review sites. Now - sometimes I do but I'm reluctant to - has to be very hot with decent previews!

REPLY TO #3 - Toadsith :
Exactly as Toadsith. So far, I never had a problem with un-reviewed sites. Reviews are just one factor in deciding whether or not to join.

Yes once lost money and learned to rely only on information I get on TBP and PU is the simple answer.

I try not to join a site that has no reviews but I have done it too. I've been burned a couple of times but have mostly been successful. The one absolute no-no for me is an unreviewed site that doesn't use a reputable biller.

There is so little relevant material for me these days that I seldom join anything.
If I thought the material was on topic I would join though, if I thought it looked a decent deal.
If I found something new, I might ask for a review, but I would probably try it out myself before anyone got around to it.

Sure, especially back in the days when reliable review sites were in short supply. I think the first site I actually joined was Mac & Bumble. A year or so later, 1byDay, Pix and Video, and then Club Sandy. This was like 10-11 years ago.
But these days, it probably wouldn't make sense to join a site without checking the reviews. These days, reviews are a lot more common for lots of things, and they don't just show up occasionally in print media as they used to.
And the print media itself is showing up less often. Take Newsweek, for instance.

Like both Drooler and Capn and more - in the "old" days, I joined what looked like ok, because of the previews..
But as Capn says: "I seldom join anything" - or maybe like: Much less than earlier.
And: mostly some site never heard of before (heard of at TBP/PU)...still: porn is here to stay, so I join some well known sites - now and then - but not because of any review.

Once, way back, when I subscribed to a husband-wife porn site. I found out within minutes that I had made a grievous mistake (hardly any material) links that automatically added another subscription even though they were integrated with the normal ones, and it took me hours of sleuthing to find the "cancel" because all the buttons led to the sign-up page, even though I had signed in. Even the biller's link led nowhere until I GOOGLED them, got through that way, and threatened to sue the site for fraud. I got a refund but swore never again! And I haven't!

Several times when I first started joining paysites back in 2003 before it crossed my mind that there might actually be porn review sites out there. In those days I mostly subscribed to sites whose content I'd seen posted on picture posting forums so still had a fair idea of what I was buying and didn't take too many chances.

In the olden days, before I joined PU, I joined porn sites based on their preview pages. But since joining PU, I've been more careful about reading reviews. But I will still occasionally join a site without reading a review, if it looks really promising, and I don't see a review of it at PU.

I have amny times. If the content looks intersting I will give it a try. Reviews are helpful, but everyone's taste differs.

Usually I wouldn't. But ... when there's a niche site you're interested in, sometimes there are no reviews available especially if the site is in a foreign language.
So far my experiences have been rather good when joining a site without reviews (ok, one or two bad experiences : not much content) ; I'm always cautious about payment method : it should be a well known company who handles the payment, otherwise I skip it.
