No. I don't think I ever will either as I'm not really into hunting or target shooting.

Nope. I think people of a reasonable mind should be able to, but I don't have any plans to.

I bought a revolver and gun safe a few years ago, after someone tried to break into my house while I was home.

Owned a gun at 11, it was gone at 12, borrowed on my brother's guns for awhile, don't have one now or expect to have one in the future, though I hold the right to change my mind should I decide to use it as an exit strategy.

REPLY TO #4 - Cybertoad :
You know it was prompted by our discussion thread, though I was unsure if they would even consider it since it sooooo off the topic of porn.

But not so off topic that it hadn't been asked before back on 2-Apr-2012.
Do you own a fire-arm?

I was kinda curious myself as many viewers share conservative and liberal views on porn. Why not firearms. I think it is great you asked for the poll . Be curious how this unfolds.

I don't own a gun, never will, but voted "other" because if I lived in the USA where all my neighbors appeared to have handguns (emphasis on "appear") I would feel vulnerable without one.

Glad that this wasn't a quiz. And what hell was I doing on April 2nd? Oh, that was the one that got me looking at the Judge.
Anyone see my mind wandering through here?

No - and I'm quite content in a country/culture where it isn't commonplace to own one!

Is 'sort of' an acceptable answer? If so, then put me down for that.
Perhaps oddly, since I joined the military in 1986 I really don't like guns. They're a tool of the trade, and honestly, in a military environment they can be a serious pain in the ass since if you're issued one for training or operational reasons you need to have easy access to it all the time. You carry it everywhere, the point being that if you stop for a poop and a Taliban walks by he likely won't wait for you to finish before he finishes you.
But, I do actually have possession of a firearm. And sad to say for a law-abiding guy, it isn't fully legal in Canada. It is a 1920s vintage snubnose .32. I don't have ammunition for it, and I don't plan to get any. It was given to my long-deceased grandfather by a homicide detective in Boston, then given to my now very, very elderly father who gave it to me. It has no sentimental value but turning in a restricted weapon to the police is likely more trouble then it is worth.

I've target shot, but have no interest in hunting. I've got know problem with reasonable gun control laws - the recent past has shown the need to keep the mentally unstable away from dangerous weapons. But I'm certainly not in favor of out-right, broad, bans

No - I live in the UK and most types of gun are illegal. I wouldn't want one anyway.

I live in Canada and I grew up knowing that only police officers and the army should have guns. I have never seen anything to make me chnage my mind. I live in a neighborhood where it's still common to leave your door unlock. Mind you it is a very small community but it gives you an idea of my statement of mind.
There are a decent amount of rifles in Canada but these are for the most part owned by hunterss and farmers and strangely enugh few people ever die from them except in hunting accidents.
It's too bad that people feel the need to own a gun or guns because the chances are much greater that they will die from it or worse a member of their family will.

I live in the US, but my "gun status" might as well be in the UK or Canada, which is fine with me. I'd just as soon get a gun as I would buy an industrial press for making stainless steel sinks.

Did ......then didn't.
did again, then didn't
did a third time, then didn't
Currently, still don't.
Never paid for one. Those that come into my possession were usually gifts, bequeathed, or strangely enough, collateral for loans.
BTW ......
glad to see what I think is jberry's first poll entry...... Neat-o
Get in the habit, Dude

Too many laws and restrictions about buying a handgun in California. You even need to check to see if the handgun you are thinking of buying is on the approved list of handguns that can be sold in the state. To buy or to sell, legally, you need to fill out forms, and it has to be done through a registered dealer.

Being British it's an obvious no and as other Brits have stated on here I'm happy living in a country where gun ownership is not commonplace amongst ordinary citizens.
