I use my computer for work also, so anything remotely racy stays on an external drive - and is therefore gone when I unplug my laptop to take it with me somewhere. Also disabled recent items and the like, for the same reason!

No I don't. I like to keep it tidy with only one or two momentarily releavnt files on it. Otherwise it's a lost fight of useless files piling up.

There's nothing porn related visible on my desktop, it's all stashed on external drives.

No - I like to keep em in their folder, I occasionally show friends stuff and also use my laptop in public so could be embarrassing if I clicked the wrong icon!

All external for me. It never even gets stored there temporarily.

I really wish the people that picked yes to this would have at least posted a comment to explain why and which ones. I already have many of icons on my desktop so adding video files would simply cluter my desktop and I frankly don't see the point. I could see creating a special folder where your favorite videos are located for easier access but those can be in the video section of your computer. I use Windows 7 so access one of those videos would only be 3 clicks.

Not on my desktop, but I have a favorites folder on each of my external hard drives, and also have some that have piled up on my laptop in the video folder. I try to keep those migrated over to the hard drives, but get behind when I'm busy.

I'm glad pat362 brought up the cluttered desktop. I can't stand a cluttered desktop because you always seem to be struggling to find something. I keep nothing on my desktop, even going so far as to hack the registry to hide the recycle bin. And yet, I'm going to answer the poll by saying that I *sort of* keep particular scenes on my desktop. I use a nice little (and FREE!) program called Rocketdock. It's a customizable program that looks like Apple's OS X application launcher. You can drag any file or folder to it and it'll start it or open it from your desktop. And, yes, I have been known to drag a favorite scene to it once in a while. I almost always have at least one porn folder on the dock, either from a favorite site or a current or recent site I've joined.
If you're curious what the program is, you can go to rocketdock.com to check it out. And yes, I have a very small vested interest in this, a bit of shameless self-promotion maybe. If you find that you'd like to use the program, I invite you to check out the icons I created for use with it. rocketdock.com/addon/icons/35833. I don't get paid for it - but I do get a little kick out of 50,000+ downloads so far : - )

I use shortcuts to files on external drives. When the desktop starts getting messy, I put the shortcuts in a folder. And for fun, I name that folder something like "Tues Jan 24 docs" just to fool anyone out of thinking there's porn in there.
But there is! And it's really good.

I don't know how any Windows beyond XP work, but I know on XP you can change the icon to anything you want. Before I had Rocketdock, I used a completely transparent icon for a desktop shortcut and dragged it down to where the name of the shortcut was below the taskbar. That way, nothing showed at all. But I knew, for instance, that the bottom right hand corner was one of my shortcuts. Super stealth mode.

No... Too risky to leave porn readily available, even to myself. All files are hidden and encyrpted requiring several steps to open using strong passwords.

Nope, keep everything stored in folders elsewhere, although I do keep a folder of favorites.

I had no idea, or noticed then forgot, that the user can change the icons of individual folders. In 7, I've found the collection of options (in "properties," of course), but even the transparent ones (there are a few) show that curving shortcut arrow. Still, it's a neat trick.

You can drag that shortcut arrow below the taskbar, too. If there's a TweakUI for W7, you can fade the arrow or remove it altogether.
