Boy Drooler, you made me go looking for the poll of May 13, 2013 which asked about thumbnail photos. But since this one was contingent on the whether full thumbnails influenced me to join a site or not, that made it different.
Interestingly in that poll I answered YES - that full thumbnails should be included but on your poll I answered NOT AT ALL, since I very seldom include still photos in my downloads and it would never influence my decision to join a site.
Most times if I want to include a still in my video edits I'll screen capture one out of the video. I do have a sizable selection of "balls deep 69" photos which are just there for my occasional viewing pleasure and were only available through screen capture.
The only other time I got into stills was from the preview e-mails that MET Art sent out. I would select certain ones to play with in my photo editing program. Between June 2006 and Aug 2011 they sent me over 500 e-mails, of which 120 of them remain unopened.
I guess you can ascertain from my ramble above the value of stills in my porn life.

There aren't a lot of sites that offer public preview thumbnails of their galleries.
I am more interested in whether a site offers a complete listing of their models, with a nice thumbnail to show what they look that.
I like to use the slideshow that many sites offer, to view the galleries, to see what the photos look like, before I decide whether to download the set or not.
Because at too many sites, when I look at the thumbnails of the individual photos, the thumbnails are too small to see what the photos looks like.
Even at Metart, which is still primarily a photo site (even though a few of their newer videos are almost interesting), I can barely make out what the model looks like from the thumbnail.
Years ago, the model thumbnails seemed larger. Maybe it's my eyes, but the thumbnails today are just too small at Metart to clearly see what the model (or her individual thumbnail photos) looks like.
You can increase the image size, but that means part of the page is offscreen, and then you have to return to normal size or fiddle with the mouse if you view different pages. Normal size means less fiddling.

I seldom see any to use as a comparison.

Unfortunately, they are not often available these days.
Those that are, I do appreciate.

The funny thing is that I don't even remember when I came up with this poll question. I didn't recognize it as my own until I looked at the poll results and saw my "name" along with it. Doesn't matter to me when it gets posted, though it's kind of funny that a related question was up not long ago.
I guess it's "Thumbnails Month" at the PU polling station. LOL.
Regarding Ik2Fireone's comment, it seems that sites aren't keeping up with monitor resolutions. These days they demand larger thumbs than before. (Remember, anyone, my forum complaint about that?)
Example: ALS Angels. I can step up the size of the page w/cntrl+, but the thumbs look like something out of 1998 when I do.
Getting back to the main point, I think thumbs for visitors is a smart idea. TorridArt does a good job with it, for instance, except, again for the sizes (just as bad as ALS Angels).

Have you ever asked for Met-Art's newsletter? If not, those can be viewed much larger than thumbnail. Maybe not full screen but pretty large - like about 4x6 inches... 1024x683 pixels dpi 72 certainly not what you'd get from the website (5600 pixels) but it still much better than a thumbnail.

I don't recall asking for it, but I've been getting it. Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll give it a lookie next time.

Just click on a photo of a girl, it should take you to a thumbnail page of about 8 -12 photos - then click on an individual photo to blow it up. But I must post this disclaimer - as I pointed out, I haven't received one of these e-mails since Aug 2011, so it's possible they might have changed how it works.

Definitely. Full previews that let you into the actual content are too rare but for me they are a deciding factor.

Yes, I signed up for the MerArt newsletter earlier this year, after belonging to MetArt many times over the years.
The thumbnails in the newsletter are easy to see. And clicking on a thumbnail brings up a sample gallery of the model's photosets, with nice sized thumbnails.
Clicking on any thumbnail in the sample gallery brings up a 1/3 full-sized photo of the thumbnail. Which is easier to use than the slideshow display for viewing galleries at MetArt.
Even though I am currently a MetArt member, I sometimes use the newsletter thumbnail system to look for new models.

I'm not as interested in pix. To me I want to see a decent set of Video previews. I say there should be about a dozen, to show of the different type of content, and the length should be at lease 3 minutes.

In the rare instance that I do branch out and join a new site, thumbnails definitely help me make the decision. But to really nail it down, I like to see some technicals - number of pictures/videos, resolutions and update schedule.

I guess it would be nice, but wouldn't really effect my decision to join, ideally I prefer a model index with a screenshot or one shot from each scene they are in, but even that is often asking too much.

Not many sites show thumbnail previews of all pics in a set - but it is appreciated when they do. But at least showing a few definitely makes a difference. I'm reminded of Stagg Street, which shows 5 thumbnails when browsing through sets rather than just one - even when a member this is very handy.

Not really as long as there is a good preview showing the models and how many photo sets she has.
