I was so blown away by the technology that I guess my brain decided not to remember the simple name of Videobox. I even vividly remember thinking it was FurryBox. It seems my own fetishes took over my vocabularic reasoning ability. But here I am, 15 years late and though the blown away feeling is more like tipped over, it’s still a site I can say I am happy to be a member of. One of the pros that I don’t think was very clear to me until now is the number of DVDs. When I am a member of a porn site, I regularly call each individual video a DVD or a movie. Doing that on Videobox, sells their vast collection way short. It really does have over 15,000 DVDs. But if you’re too young to remember DVDs, that number is representative of the full DVD. There are 4-6 scenes on each of those DVDs. I can only imagine how overwhelmed I would have been as a member back in 2010. Navigating Videobox is relatively easy. I have favorite porn studios and can search through their 500+ studios. You can scan through the long list and pages of studio names or you can alphabetically search through the studios. I don’t have the time or patience to go through and see just how accurate the studio listings are, but I will say the advertised numbers look right. You also can search through the 13,000 female models and can do that by scrolling through all those models, each with a thumbnail of the model or alphabetically. Furthermore, you can select from the nearly 100 niches/categories. I am sure there are some mistakes in their numbers and in accuracy, but I would be more worried if they were 100% right. I found searching directly for a specific model to be the best way for me to find scenes I’m interested in and I use Down Them All successfully on Videobox. I do think a site like this one adds a very high probability of causing the user to download more scenes than they will ever watch. It is happening to me. Using this “model” name way of searching has shown me at least a few inaccuracies Videobox likely can’t fix. They have multiple versions of certain scenes. This is from a studio licensing a scene to another studio and the other studio changes the name of the scene to match whatever DVD they release the scene on. If only it was as simple as the same scene being released with 2 different names. It’s not that simple. Sometimes, one of the scenes will be let’s say 23 minutes and 18 seconds. What is the same scene with a different name may be 36 minutes and 12 seconds. You get firsthand experience in understanding video editing when that happens. The video quality has to be one of the most important parts of a site like this one. I have found hundreds of scenes in HD quality that I’ve downloaded, but that’s not to say there’s not some poor video quality scenes. I have a couple that are under 360p. My thinking is it’s probably a bigger deal to remove those from the site than it is to just leave them. I am very happy to have found this site and do believe content has been removed and possibly recycled, but since it was my first time as a member, I didn’t have anything to go by or draw a baseline. For the cheap price, you will have a hard time finding this much porn and they have made the site easy enough to use that it’s fun being a member of it. I am sure the largely negative reaction from users was one reason. Now VB3 is back. From my point of view, VB3 still sucks. Some reviewers have pointed out a few advantages of VB3. For example, more niches make it easier to find videos of specific interest. Nevertheless, here is why I do not like VB3. I took a standard operation that I go through almost every time I access the site. It took 7 mouse movements and clicks under the old interface and 28 mouse movements and clicks under VB3. That means it is four times the work to get to what I am looking for. A second seemingly minor but very real frustration is that the pop-up floating windows often block the link I want to click. One has to back up and try to approach the link from a different direction to avoid triggering a floating window. Mouse-over pop-up windows may be the latest cool thing in web programming, but they are a pain in the ass for most users. The new VB3 is a slight improvement over the old VB3, but I still prefer the pre-VB3 interface and would like the option of continuing to use it. At least one other reviewer commented that the quality was going down. With so many DVD's, (5 new every day at 5:00 AM PT), there will be some good and some bad. Also, VB tries to have something for everyone. In my case, only one or two videos per week interest me. That is a sufficient number to justify the $15 monthly cost. Five updates are offered at once but the updates rarely change by production companies. Content of said videos has fallen dramatically. VB appears to have substituted bargain basement vids for quality, and by that I mean attractiveness of "actors/actresses", action and plain old good pornography. It's cheap production, unattractive sex has made it less than desireable. It continues its downward spiral. Studios such as Private, Harmony, H2 are no longer posted. Very poor quality porn scenes/unattractive women/slow downloads....I could continue. As exotics pointed out there are more niches to pick from and things can really be fine-tuned to a point where you get (mostly .. there's still the odd mistake) exactly what your heart desires. It certainly encourages lengthy browsing, something I normally don't do, and just like exotics I have found, and downloaded, scenes I would have never looked at before version 3. I was tempted to stay with a listing of the DVDs rather than with the scenes but am starting to see the advantages of the latter. I also find the streaming impressive. I am not sure if they improved their flash player since last I was a member, but most scenes appear to play cleaner and clearer than I remember. I would still like to see more niche content but, as to VB3, I think it's nice once you get used to it. I wonder when we can expect "My VB3" to be functional? The old interface gave you large previews, was fast and easy to navigate. None of that is true with the new interface. After a few test runs on it, I actually like the new search engine in VB3 better than the one in the old version of VB. The big difference you will notice in the search engine is that the old search engine had roughly 40 niche categories, where as the new VB3 search engine has 112. Just off of basic searches, clicking a niche, I've found quite a few DVDs I hadn't seen on VB before. Also, if you're taking it for a test run be sure to sign in. For whatever reason, if you're signed into the old version then click to go to VB3, it doesn't automatically sign you in. Once signed in, most of the clutter is reduced. Where things get confusing is when you look at the top of the VB3 page, over to your right, a "channels" button. When you click this, you expect to see Evil Angel and Vivid, which I have subscriptions to both, but now there's two more channels. Those two new channels are Kink.com and RealityKings.com, both of these are in my favorite site groups so I'm of course going to click on them. The Reality Kings one only has 90 some scenes and the Kink one only has 70 some scenes. Now the confusion really comes in. You can stream 4 videos from these sites, called previews, but it looks to be full scene streams. There also is a choice to download the scenes. When I click download scene, a box pops up that asks if I want to subscribe to the channel. The Kink channel says they add 4 HD scenes per week. The Reality Kings channel says they add 1 new scene per day. It says my amount due to subscribe is $0 so I click subscribe and I receive a server error message. Most likely since my subscription has been canceled. So, I'm wondering if anyone knows the prices that these are going to be to subscribe to? I'm not for sure the Reality Kings one interests me that much since I join it every 3 months anyway and RK is a network so I could get all these scenes with a Reality Kings subscription. On the other hand, Kink isn't a network and requires you to join multiple sites to see the different niches they have, so that one would have some interest from me. I did a test join using another browser and neither are offered in the sign-up process like Vivid and Evil Angel are, so I'm guessing those are add-ons for members only. Anyone that has joined the Kink channel? I would like to see what the price is going to be.
