Streaming Only! Today's poll reminded me that with "streaming only" gaining favor with some webmasters we, as users, should make it very clear in our comments and reviews if a site practices this. I would never join a streaming only site, but some webmasters are so silent on the subject on their tours that many an unwary soul might subscribe without realizing this. It would also be nice if the TBP review summation on the right-hand top of the page (in Porn Users) carried a special warning about this practice. This is the most important and restrictive development in Porn since DRM and I know that I would be severely ticked off if I found myself subscribing to a site like that inadvertently. | |

I am also a big fan of sites not going the streaming route. Can download streams often, but that is a pain. I have made it a practice to avoid streaming sites. I do not feel I get my moneys worth out of them. I have a fast internet here, but it is not faster than my hard drives so skipping around the videos is much easier for downloads. That's good to hear. I don't stream any of my members' area videos, and make it clear on the tour that they can be downloaded and kept. I think it's very important for site to be honest about the type of videos they offer. I'm a memeber of a couple of streaming sites and it's a pay as you go system. It's not the greteast thing on the planet and can get expensive over time but some of their content is nearly impossible to find so I can live with the cost. I recently got burned because a site was not upfront about their videos being streaming only. My review mentioned that aspect and they lost me as a future customer. Long live the Brown Coats. | |

I have only been caught a couple of times by sites that are stream only. I have yet to find any type of stream that cannot be downloaded using one trick or another but as badandy400 said its a pain in the ass. I do already make a point of mentioning and deriding sites that are stream only so hopefully others wont fall into the same trap. The problem with the world is stupidity. Not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself? Frank Zappa | |

ok...so maybe im missing something.... am i the only one that actually prefers streaming? ill even admit i had read previously how most dont like streaming sites..and this and that...so i tried it..i started downloading all my new vids...granted i dont do the dwnld manager thing..(only because i have no clue how to even start with one)...in addition, i have to say..i maybe on a very rare occasion have went back into my new library and watched one of those downloaded vids... so, for me, all this has done is take up basically all of my memory!!.. anyways, maybe some of you can educate me on this?? as always, THANKS for helpin this poor newbie!..lol devmsr (formerly rsmdev  ) | |

Yeah I mean for some maybe streaming is best cause you save on hard drive space (memory is something else) but lots of people and me included like to watch a vid say after a months subscription to a site, especially if its one of my fav girls who I collect all I find of them. So streaming only sites to me are worthless. When I look at porn I like to simply turn on, look in my collection for what mood I'm in and its there, with streaming you are stuck with less choice, can't forward on movies as well without slow buffering, well on my internet connection you can't and even watching a movie I get re-buffering which is so annoying. Hey devmsr, I think most of us are collectors at heart. We like the organizing and everything that goes with it. I have separate folders for various websites and among my DVD collection I sort by 6 different categories. So, as the mood strikes me I can look at the videos or picture sets that appeal to me most on a particular day. Others collect everything of a favorite model. So, there's value to downloading. As to memory, I would be willing to bet that 90% of the Porn Users in this forum use external drives rather than their computers' hard drive in order to accommodate their ever growing collections. But to each his own, there must be others who like "streaming only" otherwise paysites wouldn't ever consider switching to that model of doing business. It's just that I don't! | |

There are infinitesimally few things of which I disagree with you on, Sir messmer....this might be one of them. I prefer streaming because it's immediate (no waiting for download), includes stop, backtrack, and go control, stays off your harddrive, and basically just gives me more flexability. However, and this is of paramount importance, if streaming nullifies my ability to download (save) -- should I want to -- then I take a whole different approach to the situation. An example of that was a site called Hypnogirls, to which I had the dreadful misfortune of being sucked into joining. (see my review). Herewith (below) is an introduction to a scene from a mainstream movie called Jolene ..... I thought it might wet your appetite.  Jessica Chastain doing a sexy striptease on stage at a club, starting off in a slinky black dress that she peels off to go topless while leaning against a stripper pole and then bending over backward on the stage floor. I prefer even DRM over streaming. Both limit my viewing to the subscription period but with DRM I'm not limited to viewing in browser, interrupted by occassional bad data rates etc. Still, they both suck (streaming as an option is nice but as the only method of viewing not)  | |

Agree entirely with messmer in this thread. A lot of sites have streaming too - for those who like that. But streaming ONLY is absolutely a no-go for his user - would never join. But alas: some of these sites seems to hide it pretty good in the preview - not ok. And yes, it would be great with a special warning at TBP for each of those sites. Streaming only is a definite no, as far as I'm concerned too. If the site has reasonable speeds I will quite often stream. I like to stream, but if you join a site you need the ability to download and keep, or view at a later date. I agree that we need to be warned against those which are streaming only. Those that hide it are clearly out to con people into subscribing. | |

Sometimes use streaming service if provided, but to pay for stream only...even for a DVD site for preview/rental purpose, pass. Unless space is at a premium for you, even DRM is better, though neither as great as owning the clip to fire up years later. | |

Count me among the non-streaming folks. I was looking at a site yesterday (I forget which) and my credit card was out. When I saw it was streaming only that shut the deal down. To all webmasters out there: there are still some of us who WILL NEVER SHARE MATERIAL. NEVER. EVER. EVER. But I need to download it to use as I want. | |

Yes, I know how pretentious it is to quote yourself, but I realized that I didn't leave myself any wiggle room. Let me make this clear: if Aubrey Addams, Lexi Belle or Jada Stevens wants to trade a couple of hours of their time for my entire porn collection, then call me a pirate. A man has limits. And if that ever happened it'd end my posting at this site because I'd probably suffer brain damage from lack of oxygen for burying my face in their nether regions. | |

Some of my members are still on connections which are too slow for realistic streaming anyway. I might offer it as an option in future (but there's little advantage with harddrive space as you could always download the video and delete it after you've watched it) but I would never replace the option to download the videos to keep. Members download photosets to keep, so what's the difference with people downloading videos too? Webmaster of StripGameCentral and A Measure of Curiosity. | |

I remember the website from pink visual and all reality pass only had streaming videos a good couple of years back. They had so much quality content, I remember saying if only youcould download the vids it would be great. Thankfully now they've got the option to d/l but with pink visual there is a catch - you have to be a member for over 3 months to be able to d/l all their content. And with Allrealitypass the quality of the videos is poor when you download them. Another annoyance for me is when a site doesn't provide full download option but you have to download in parts. How hard is it to link the vids together? Completely a deal breaker for me. | |
