What would the social consequences be if your porn habits/PU nickname ... ... became public knowledge at home, neighbours, among collegues at work etc? On my own behalf I would expect feeling very embarrased  and receiving a mix of reactions from disinterest to mild condescenting pity, but limited amount of more serious denunciation. | |

What family, relatives, and others who know me, are well aware of my porn habits. For awhile, there were a handful who mightn't still not known .......... But then My daughter, through my health concerns,,, exacerbated by repercussion's of a grossly misguided, major cervical attempt at correcting a mal-formed cervical alignment. hers, whose house adjoins mine --- thereby while I'm away, consequently have examined every nick, corner, crevice and possible hiding place of which I could conceivably hide, of whom I must bring in to lessen the confusion, ..... all Of whom, through her unending broadcasting my every move, particularly involving porn, have now left no stone unturned upon getting out all the juicy details. | |

Oh, I can only imagine...but I don't like it when I do!  Family--well, immediate anyway--would probably be ranging from less than thrilled to an angry level of embarrassment. There are certainly plenty of other things about me that don't make loved ones particularly proud of me--but hey, unconditional love's a bitch! So they might understand that I'm not exactly Ned Flanders (though maybe this version, a little) when it comes to my surfing habits. Friends, it depends on who. Those who've known me a long time know my general views on sex, masturbation, porn, and personal freedom and that I'm not one to restrict any of them. The exact details of my tastes may make a few shudder and probably even some women cry, but you know what they say about making an omelet...  Really the devil's in the details because of my hundreds of sorted posts here in the forum would make for some interesting and revealing reading. I am a public person, my jobs get me noticed allot. That said, everyone tosses off, EVERYONE. I think that we focus to much on what we do with own bodies in private. Except the half of the senate who wasn't of the same party; just look at the breakdown of votes during his impeachment. Only Republicans voted in favor of the two charges brought against him, with a handful voting against. But it's really the hypocrisy that gets my blood boiling. That somehow only the people whose sexual peccadilloes are revealed are guilty, when in reality, as you said, "everyone tosses off." Hence the hilarious (but deserved) investigation by Larry Flynt to out the hypocritical congressional adulterers who were in favor of impeaching Clinton. Maybe those assholes just thought that boners weren't allowed in the Oval Office so their extramarital affairs were okay. Or it was just the oldest, flimsiest trick in the book with which to attack someone they didn't agree with. My real name does not turn up much. By if you google my email address that I give to most people (except employers) it would turn up a number of things....such as reviews to a rather large number of porn sites.  At least for now I am not worried. Future is unknown as usual. The wife knows about this site and my porn collection. My boss even knows I used to sell porn DVDs on ebay. Can't say why, exactly, but I don't think my family or friends are going to figure out that I'm on this site. What I do know is that there's gonna be a lot of unanswered questions and red faces when I kick off and they find all the porn on my drives. A shame I won't be around to witness it! That's why you need more than one address, badanday! I just wish I could have a separate mailbox for all the junk snail mail I still get (apparently junk mail is one of the revenue generators for the USPS)--then hook it up to a pneumatic tube and send all that crap into an incinerator. I probably should be a little more careful about what I write--I don't mean because of any hidden Ron Paul-like controversy--but because I'm never really aware when my style and voice carries over, regardless of subject. For example, I once commented on a professor's blog back in college. Much of the work of the class was done by posting writing assignments (privately, so only the professor could read them) online and the next time we had class I mentioned having checked out his blog and he had assumed I was one of the commenters on that entry just from recognizing my writing. Maybe in the future everything posted online will be up for grabs, or at least political gaffes. The "fact checkers" will just plug in a speech or writing we know is a candidate's and then hunt down all the writings an algorithm determines are authored by the same person. Well, I work at a porn site, so colleagues are no issue. Most of my friends know too (because who wouldn't tell that story). Family is dicier- it's openly known and joked about in the down-to-earth part, and spoken of in hushed tones of scandal amongst the stuck-up part. | |

Conversely, though, a lot of people are super-interested in the daily mores of a porn company. But you sure are right; if you want to work in the adult industry and keep it a secret, you're going to have a bad time. Best to preclude any crises by 'owning it', IMO. | |

For some reason this is the only thing that worries me regarding my collection. Or say I leave a certain website open on my computer when I step out to pick something up at the grocery store. I get in an accident and while at the hospital a friend goes to my apartment to get some things for me...and then mysteriously don't return my calls. But if I suddenly kick the bucket? Yikes! Yeah, I'll be dead but I don't want to be haunting my family (friends will mostly understand...mostly) by way of hard drive content. It would be like opening up a King Tut's tomb of embarrassment. Without saying too much, if my porn habits were widely known, it would be a scandal of sorts. I'm still pretty young at 30, but I also wonder what will happen to my collection when I eventually go. Will it come to light and what will other people think? Yeah, digital porn is easier to hide, but nine 4 Tb hard drives are kind of hard to overlook. Will it be wiped or will it somehow find a new home? This is where a "porn buddy" can come into play, at least in theory. A porn buddy is a friend who you make an agreement with that if you die unexpectedly, they will come and discreetly pick up your porn collection to either get rid of or keep. The agreement is generally mutual among "porn buddies." It's a concept that's been thrown around online, but I'm not sure if anyone's actually done it. In order for it to work, your porn buddy would obviously have to be a close real-world friend who your family would recognize and trust inside of your home. This is where the practicality of "porn buddies" falls short. For kicks, I'm going to tell my wife about the "porn buddies" idea now and see what she thinks. She watches porn too, but her interests are more mainstream than me, and I don't think she would know what to do with pee fetish porn from over 600 sites and other sources. Better to be pissed on, than to be pissed off. | |

I have never been able to stand Kimmel, or Adam Carolla, or shows that call themselves "The Man Show"--always made me embarrassed to be a member of the same sex as those two asshats.
