Porn Calendars...would you hang one up? Before I start I want to say that this is not a thread to sell anything I just have a question. I just finished the last of 5 calendars ATKingdom putting out. We are going to be using them for promotional material so this is not something anyone can buy. My question is, I spent a month picking all the photos for these calendars and I am wondering if anyone is actually going to hang them on their wall. I know porn is a private thing so how many of you would actually hang a porn calendar up? Some pictures are tame but some are explicit. I would appreciate all of your thoughts and opinions on this. Hanging a porn calendar on a wall? No way, even if nobody ever saw it. The same way, I don't need a tattoo on my forehead proclaiming: "I am a porn hound." Some guys might think that's a good motto to shout out, I'm not one of them. In the same vein, why did this site allow users to pick an alias? Most people want at least a little privacy for their enjoyment of porn. A book of erotic art, or a book of nudity, just seems a different category. It has a history, a legitimacy to it. There have been cheesecake calendars in the past, but I've seen no porn calendars. Perhaps I've had a limited education? Please understand, I don't mean to be critical. But I would imagine most porn calendars would be kept in a desk or drawer, not hung up on a wall. Perhaps a stud like Rocco Siffredi or Pierre Woodman might like to hang up a calendar of their conquests on a wall, as advertisement, or a badge of their greatness. Shouldn't you have asked that question before you started?   To answer you question. It really depends. In a commercial workshop or garage, yes , ok that's fine. Most other places of work probably not. Home, perhaps in my garage, but nowhere else. Cap'n. We did not pose the question to users because as I stated it is not something we are trying to sell. We will mainly use it as a marketing tool at the conventions. We thought that some of the people in our business would not mind hanging it in the office or breakroom. I know porn is a private issue with most people I just thought it would be interesting to see if a user would hang a calendar. For the record, we have no problem with you asking this question. As far as the question ... It really would depend on how "explicit" they are an who you planned on sending them to as a "promotion". For example, we (my wife and I) probably have 6-8 calenders hanging throughout our home/office. The one in the garage is from a famous fantasy artist who does semi-nudes. The wife doesn't have a problem with it but that's because it's in the garage. I probably wouldn't have a problem hanging a softcore calender there (if I liked the pics) but that's about it. And remember, my wife is a TBP Editor so it's not like she isn't exposed to porn every day (more than me actually). If you're targeting these promotions to adult webmasters, then I'd guess there's a 50/50 chance they'd hang them. It would mainly depend on if they had a "real" office or if they worked from home like me. For consumers I'd say the odds drop to maybe one in a thousand (maybe even fewer) would actually hang one. Still, will be interesting to see what response you get here. It is only solo girls so no hardcore. I did one for Social Media Babe of the Year, Hairy, Galleria, Premium and Petites. Not a lot of touching going on but of course they are naked with legs spread. I know it is not something everyone will want but I thought it was something different and it would make good giveaways for our members, affiliates and such. If they wanted them. I am excited to see the different views on this from the PU members. Advent, I think Khan is right if he puts the figure at one in a thousand when it comes to the average Porn User. The single ones wouldn't want to escort their dates into a sexy calendar adorned room, and the married ones would not want to face the wrath of their significant others. Women can be funny that way! My spouse tolerates my Porn habit but would not be happy if I did it openly in front of her. She reads her book or watches her TV while pretending to herself that I'm looking at news headlines on the Internet. A calendar on the wall would confront her with the stark reality that (even though I love her more than anything) I still like to ogle pretty women at the same time, because boys, no matter how old, still will be boys! | |

Ditto for me in that I have no need for a softcore calendar. I live alone and I don't even put anything risque on my desktop just in case someone drops by. As one who occasionally pretends to live in the business world I wonder why people even bother with most of the business swag stuff out there. I got a bunch of pens and coffee cups with logos on them and I'll be damned if I can remember the names of any those companies without looking at them. Conventions maybe a bit different because people sort of expect to pick up a bunch of "booty" (using the term literally and figuratively) but most of that just gets dumped or shoved into some drawer and forgotten about until you die and your family gets to find out how big of a perv you really were. Frankly, I'd spend the money on a jazzed up (not jizzed up) display or hand out membership discounts or limited memberships (free 30 minutes) or something like that. Give them something that gets them to your site, not something old and stale ... even if it does you a case of morning wood checking the day of the week. | |

When I look at a calendar it's usually for a reason that is pretty much unrelated to porn. I don't really want to think about the garbage pickup schedule and one of your hot booty babes at the same time, for instance. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England. | |

I think calendars can be a good promotional tool but not all types of calendars. There's a cost to return ratio that has to be taken into account. The days of cheap printing are over. I'm pretty sure that many newspapers and magzines are going out of business because of it so you have to take that into account when looking at how much money will have to be spent in the printing. The more you print, the cheaper the cost per unit but it also means a bigger budget and you already know that most of us would not hang the calendar up except for some obscure places. I can't see you making any money back from the venture and that would make all the time and hard work you put into the calendars a waste of better spent energy. Long live the Brown Coats. | |

Like many of us here, I live alone.. and for all practical purposes I shouldn't care less one way or another about explicit display (tame or otherwise) shown anywhere in my home. But I do. I eschew even pinup pictures hung where they can be seen --- an I don't get all that many vistors. My private porn domain, however.....Ahhh! but that's a different story. Only will those who enter that sealed domicile to collect material to ultimately settle my late estate will the truth of my fondness for displaying the female form be adoringly discovered.... as well as my treasure trove of time-honored porn collectables. So, ATA Kingdom.....thats the best I can do. | |

I have a liking for retro (more retro-style than actual retro) cheesecake and pinups - the kind of thing with some actual nudity but more tease. I'd put that kind of calendar up - and the tamer of my photo books are shelved where they could be noticed by the casual observer. But as to porn/legs spread material, I think I'd be (rightly?) branded a DOM if I were to hang that up! And agree with Drooler that I'm never going to make that deadline if there's an enticing naked girl looking at me every time I check when it is. But OTOH, I do somehow think it's a fun thing to give away eg at conventions - where your average visitor is probably in a different demographic to most folk... | |

I did a calendar for StripGameCentral.com a few years ago which I offered to the public via Lulu. I didn't know if anyone would buy something like that so it was something of an experiment. I don't think I'd ever put one on the wall to be honest, I buy a Kylie calender every year and have done for 10 years or so, its sexy photoshoots of her but of course fully clothed, I don't think I'd have a nude calender in the house. The garage is a different matter though or the garden potting shed, I might possibly put one up there. tastefull nudes though, a hardcore calender would be funny but I wouldn't ever be into putting one of them up if they even exist lol.
